so in Black Skinhead when he says "I keep it 300, like the Romans"I don't get the reference at all.

I didn't like Yeezus after the first couple of listens, but it definitely has grown on me. Theres a few tracks that i cant stand, and not any instant classics, but There are a lot of solid tracks. It's not quite at the level of Twisted Fantasy, or his first couple of albums, but it's a respectable effort. In other news, Circus in the Sky by Bliss n Eso came out today. If you like hip hop, check them out.

I still can't get enough of Yeezuslistened to a Grantland podcast last night and Klosterman absolutely hit the nail on the head in comparing Kanye to Paul Thomas Andersonnot only are they at the absolute top of what they do, but they have the freedom to do whatever the hell they want AND succeed while doing it
7/2/2013 4:59:26 PM
I tried to go to that Deafheaven show 3 times and it was the wrong day every time. #drunklife Didn't end up going. Not a huge fan of them anyways so Im not even mad.I'm Krallum and I approved this message./]

what bothers me the most about Yeezus is the lyrics are by and large SHIT.

did i just read that someone call kanye a good rapper? UNREAL.kanye is clever but a good rapper overall he is not. his best albums has many features and they take him to school. every time I heard someone say " the album is growing on me" that translates to " the album is bad but I'm getting use to it"I have to listen to yeezus a couple more time but right now it's not my cup of tea. I dont feel like it's cohesive which Kanye's album always had a handle on . I was three songs in and there wasn't one head nodding track, which was rare for me in a Kanye album. so I ignored the production and listen to the lyrics.....bad idea . garbage. aint talking about shit. kanye believe he's bigger than rap. no lie. which makes a lot sense since he cant rap and spent his career making classic rap beats. {/sarcasm}[Edited on July 4, 2013 at 8:51 AM. 7/4/2013 8:42:26 AM
I downloaded it to my S3 this morning, but apparently it doesn't save the album in my phone music player, pretty lame. I'll be giving this a thorough listen between now and Monday

New Jay-Z is the heat. Can't wait to listen to it on the way home this afternoon.
7/5/2013 1:14:33 PM
^^ explain this to me. when all he's done is make hip hop albums and produce for hip hop/R&B artists.(I believe) Timberland and Pharell(sp?)are bigger than rap. they produced for other people at least[Edited on July 5, 2013 at 1:30 PM. Reason : maybe kanye has produce for others and I dont know it]

so i'm thinking the knife and the haxan cloak are far and beyond the best records of the year so far. what else am i missing?

i loved kanyes previous albums but he has completely transformed into obnoxious drivel for this yeezus album. I can put up with it on a feature with a bunch of other people but not a whole album of "I GET ASS IN THE PENTHOUSE GOTA MILLION DOLLARS AND IM BLACK SHES WHITE WAHT THE FUCK STOP HATIN"

While I can't say I enjoy Yeezus, there are definitely "grower" albums and albums I love right away. That's nothing new to me in music. Some of my favorite albums today are albums that either slowly grew on me over time, or albums that I shelved after not liking right out of the gate and then gave it another chance a year down the line and loved it.
7/9/2013 6:20:54 PM
^^I don't know about Yeezus but spending more than one listen with an album and gaining appreciation is not an unusual concept.
7/9/2013 6:22:22 PM
^^yeah, definitely. i tend to burn out on albums i love right away.a recent example of this for me was King of Limbs. Really has held up well despite me not being crazy about most of it initially.[Edited on July 9, 2013 at 6:48 PM. Reason : that scat "new slaves" is awesome in a weird way]
7/9/2013 6:47:01 PM
the Kanye is still growing on me... even some of the autotune tracks.there are only one or two i just outright skip now, and i don't think i'll ever come around on those, but it's definitely better than most rap out there.

Enjoying the new A Great Big Pile of Leaves album a good bit. Not as much as some of my top-tier from this year yet, but it is a fun listen and has the potential to be a grower for me. Also really hoping that Mansions puts out their record as expected this year. Was hoping we'd already have news of it coming though. The new Sigur Ros album has been spun quite a bit lately too, especially at work when I just need something to get me in the zone without distraction.Overall, 2013 hasn't had a large quantity of albums I've loved but the quality of the albums I was looking forward to has not disappointed.[Edited on July 14, 2013 at 9:07 PM.
