Injustice anywhere is an injustice everywhere.

Are you suggesting that we should tolerate injustice, as long as it hasn't been as long or deep as a past transgression?

This amendment does not go far enough! They should modify it as follows:

Quote :
"Marriage between non-homosapiens is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this state."

That will show those gosh darn dirty apes we mean business! We don't want those types in our state, Skeeter. Now lets get 'er dun.

Prop 8 passed in California on the same day Obama was elected. One of the Bluest of blue states, and they still had to deal with the repeal of gay marriage. The African-American community tends to vote against gay rights.

So it looks like the most downtown-ish place that's open the full hours is

Roberts Community Center
1300 E. Martin Street
Raleigh, NC 27610

And that means these hours apply.

Quote :
"Friday April 27 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Saturday April 28 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Sunday April 29 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Monday - Friday April 30 -May 4 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Saturday May 5 10 a.m. - 1 p.m."

Then the board of elections place closes at 5 or before.

What do you need in order to early vote? Someone told me the Republicans were trying to make it required that we show a drivers license and title to at least 40 acres of land"

I can't wait when this amendment passes!

I've heard some of our elected officials are already working on an amendment 2 to follow this one up.

Quote :
"Amendment 2: A marriage between 1 man 1 woman shall be considered valid only if the woman is a virgin. If the woman is not a virgin, she shall be executed by the state of North Carolina."

We need to protect that sanctity of marriage!

It doesn't matter if it passes, it will be struck down in the courts. That being said, if you vote for this you should be punched in the face because you're a fucking hateful bigot.

Dear Lord, Jesus Christ,

I pray to you tonight to smite all the faggots, Muslims, sluts (non-married non-virgins), people that use drugs, cheaters, thieves, people partaking in anal intercourse, liars [for my full list, see my awesomely amazing blog, Jesus].

Your pal,
Billy Biggot

P.S. I'll see you at church this Sunday. Praise Christ!

Heard a great radio ad supporting this amendment today. Basically said that South Carolina attracted Boeing to build a plant down there and they have a same sex ban in their constitution, therefore we should put one in our constitution because clearly it helps attract business

No one has to respect your opinion, dyne. We have freedom of speech and freedom of religion. That means people are free to believe a book of poorly written fairy tales cobbled together by barely literate nomads thousands of years ago should guide laws in 2012. And others have the freedom to say, no, you're wrong, that's stupid.

well i mean, no, religion is not supposed to "guide laws".. that's why we're here. i guess people can think that, but that's not what our country was founded on.

Mr. Marriage, Leroy Gingrich, giving us this little trinket on Amendment One. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h19BiPhX2h0 Do you FOR people really want this guy representing your notion of the sanctity of marriage? Or is it okay to be on your third marriage as long is it's with someone of the opposite sex?

Street festival on Fayetteville St. from 10am-7pm on Saturday. Free event.

Quote :
"The 2nd Annual OutRaleigh festival will be on May 5, 2012 at City Plaza in Downtown Raleigh! There will be stage entertainment, vendors, food, and a dedicated Kids Zone!"

Quote :
"The first annual OutRaleigh festival was held on May 14, 2011 at City Plaza in Downtown Raleigh! We had 6,000+ attendees and this will be an annual event of The LGBT Center of Raleigh."

Gotta imagine there will be plenty of anti-amendment signs and swag available there.

David Crabtree worked on a special about the amendment. He asked pro-amendment groups to provide him with the name of a prominent CEO in NC who'd go on camera in support. The groups could not provide a single name.

I'm actually reaching a zen-like state about this abhorrent amendment and its imminent passage. Given its hurried and overly broad language, I can see legal precidence prevailing and this getting rightfully obliterated. I hope that dyne and his ilk are happy with the new layers of big government they've seen fit to heap upon the rest of us (however short its duration). GG, Oliver Cromwell would be proud...
