Ok, well I don't think you can pull stats from one game and call them shooters. AJ has been very inconsistent and I don't think anybody here will argue that one of Lorenzo's strengths is the three ball.

This season I've decided to avoid the game threads while the game is happening. It's a lot better for your heart. Bunch of weiners bitching and crying.

I know its a little early to ask this question...and I don't want to jinx us, but if we win Friday, do we know what day the next game would be?

Winners play Thurs/Sat and Fri/Sun.

Saturday and Sunday times TBA based on matchups (for ratings obviously). Could be as late as Saturday morning before they announce Sunday game times.

does anybody even bother looking up who the top 3P% are before they say Wood is the best?

ESPN has him at 5th in the ACC. Maybe other sites use different quantities to qualify, but theirs is play in 75% of games and average at least 2/gm.

[Edited on March 14, 2012 at 7:56 PM. Reason : theacc.com uses higher qualifications, but Snaer and Jarrell Eddie should count]

Problem with Scott is that he might've created half a dozen shots for himself in three years. Like I said earlier, outside of his height and shooting ability, he's no different than the average Carmichael All Star. Athletically, he can't compete with ACC caliber talent, and probably not MWC talent either. He feasts on weak teams that have a bunch of slow white guys who occasionally lose him on a screen. If you have an athletic wing over 6'4", its pretty easy to shut Scott Wood down.

You can only improve marginally athletically, so his focus should be working on the other parts of his game like defense, passing, rebounding so that when he can't get open or his shot doesn't happen to be falling, he can still stay on the floor without being completely useless.

Good god can we get some optimism here?

We're favored in the first round of the NCAA tournament. (refuse to call play-in first round, sorry).

We have a CHANCE to make the sweet 16.

In other news I have $5 at 200:1 odds on Georgetown to win the NCAA title. Pisses me off they're in our bracket haha.

http://www.theacc.com/sports/m-baskbl/stats/2011-2012/confldrs.html#conf.wki

1. Scott Wood-ST JR 33 88 214 .411

Unrelated, I didn't realize Howell was 3rd in ACC for rebounding, CJ Leslie is 3rd in ACC for FG%, Zo is 2nd in Assists and 1st in steals, and Wood isn't even on the chart for FT%.

shit that turned out to be a good bet.

honestly though, i think we'll win. i'm just going to assume that we're more talented than san diego state, and i love how gottfried has the team playing.

dollar bills.

you must not have watched a single state game in the last two months then.

Yeah my bets turned out great for NCAA champion. $10 on Stanford at 300:1 is the only one who didn't make the tournament.

Other than that I got:

Wisconsin: $50 at 60:1 odds ($3k)
Missouri: $20 at 50:1 odds ($1k, wish i had more ugh)
Marquette: $20 at 75:1 odds ($1,500)
Indiana: $20 at 50:1 odds ($1k)
BYU: $5 at 500:1 odds ($2,500)
Purdue $10 at 100:1 odds ($1k, ew they ended up sucking)

And Wolfpack $15 at 200:1 odds ($3k, ugh they are 300:1 now haha). I took this one just for fun, but the odds weren't that awful.

Sucks I only put $5 on georgetown but they weren't playing that well at the time.

probably a min # of attempts is 100. Wood just doesn't get to the line that much.

what? are you talking about 3 pointers or free throws? acc.com has him at #1 in 3% at .411, and second in made (88) and per game (2.7)-just barely behind stoglin. and he's shooting 82% from the foul line, with 2.6 attempts per game (according to espn)

Sorry, help me understand this. ESPN also has him with 41% from 3, with 2.7 made per game.

Edit: Are you trying to say that a guy who's only shot seven 3-pointers all season, but made 4 of them, is a better 3-point shooter than Wood?

He's trying to explain why he jumped the gun, and accused us all of not "doing our research" before we posted. Seemed to backfire on him though.

i'm trying to say that snaer, who shot 152 but for some reason that isnt enough and shot a better percentage than wood, might actually be a better shooter.

and yeah, this:

Saw on PackPride that San Diego State has won 69 straight games when leading with 5 minutes to go in the game.

ok, i see your point now. he does have a higher 3% (64/152 = 42%). So I guess he's not ranked because he only averages 1.9 made per game, and you have to average 2.

The other three guys in front of Wood, in terms of 3%, have only made 54, 28, and 49 on the season.

[Edited on March 14, 2012 at 10:13 PM. Reason : Wood's made 88]

geez, 152 3PA should be enough to qualify you'd think. That's like 5 per game. If you shoot 5 threes per game you are shooting a lot of 3's.

That stat is just showing how streaky Snaer is from 3. He's shot 152 3s for 42%, but:

he's played games where he goes 1-4, 0-3, 2-8, 3-9, 1-5....
he's played games where he goes 7-12, 8-16, 6-9, 5-11....
damn, sorry. this shouldn't be in the game thread.

Hopefully Wood meets or exceed his average of 2.7 of 6.5 3s, and 12.5 pts!
