I like the pick. It isn't Coples.
4/26/2012 8:57:52 PM
Hmm...Could be good, although kiper saying he will be the leader of our D is pretty dumb.
4/26/2012 8:58:13 PM
I think they could be implementing some 3-4
4/26/2012 8:59:04 PM
just PLEASE don't trade back into the first round with a future first rounder
4/26/2012 8:59:33 PM
4/26/2012 9:00:12 PM
Hard not to like a guy who leads the nation in tackles as an OLB and an ILB. Just hoping he's more Urlacher than Dan Connor
4/26/2012 9:01:03 PM
And this ... absolutely this
4/26/2012 9:01:27 PM
so you've got beason, james anderson, and keuchly.......what happens if TD comes back full strength?
4/26/2012 9:02:45 PM
Anybody heard him talk? Hope he doesn't sound like a douche. Hard to pull for a douche.
4/26/2012 9:03:28 PM
that would be an added bonus...you have TD coming off of 3 ACL tears...its a low chance of him coming back full strength...plus you have Jon Beason coming off an achilles tear...some people never come back from those
4/26/2012 9:04:29 PM
i really like the player, i just want them to address the d-line and its tough to see them go elsewhere with a first round pick. i'm sure they have a plan though, and our linebackers oughta be pretty solid going forward.
4/26/2012 9:09:15 PM
4/26/2012 9:13:34 PM
I never posted it, but he was who I was hoping for the entire timeI'm happy with the direction this team is heading/obvious(pour one out for Justin Blackmon tonight if you haven't already)
4/26/2012 9:49:54 PM
Good, safe pick. Out of all the guys left, he has the best chance of being a productive starter for the next 10 years. That's exactly what you need with your first round pick.
4/26/2012 10:02:21 PM
great pick and looks like with 7 to go til our next one there will be a quality guy there, CB, WR, OL, DL
4/26/2012 11:11:17 PM
not sure on his current projection but Devon Still, DT is still there. definitely remember him going to Carolina at 9th overall in the very early mocks.[Edited on April 26, 2012 at 11:14 PM. Reason : foo]
4/26/2012 11:13:41 PM
just listened to the interview with Charlotte-area press via the Panthers appa little surprised that there wasn't one mention of Cam by the writers, but oh wellsays he is ready to play anywhere in the linebacking corp and he has family that used to live in Charlottle so he knows a little about the QC
4/26/2012 11:40:26 PM
TD isn't coming back full strength. No reason to get your hopes up there. Beason, Anderson and Keuchly will be the LB corp by start of regular season.
4/26/2012 11:48:52 PM
Reuben Randle would be a great choice at #40. The next Anquan Boldin IMO.
4/27/2012 12:20:36 AM
Screw character. Let's draft Janoris Jenkins and his four kids. Seriously. If not him, there's a massive DT from Washington who'd be a great pick, though no one is talking about him. His name is Alameda Taamu ... not sure how it's pronounced, but I'm positive he's a monster: 6'2 350 lbs. NFL Draft Countdown gave him a first-round gradeStrengths: • Outstanding mass and bulk w/ thick, sturdy build • Excellent brute strength and extremely powerful • Is stout at the point of attack and stuffs the run • Ability to take on and occupy multiple blockers • Terrific bull rusher and can get some penetration • Good balance and rarely off feet or on the ground • Understands leverage and uses hands / arms well • Is a reliable tackler who hits with plenty of force • Nice instincts and awareness w/ high football IQ • Impressive motor with surprising range in pursuit...
4/27/2012 12:28:41 AM
you had me at
4/27/2012 12:38:34 AM
Taamu would be a good pickup if we're switching to the 3-4. Otherwise there are better defensive tackles available.
4/27/2012 12:00:53 PM
radio interview with Kuechly from this afternoonhttp://charlotte.cbslocal.com/2012/04/27/panthers-first-round-pick-luke-kuechly-im-open-to-wherever-they-want-me-to-play/]
4/27/2012 6:49:29 PM
Taking a lb at #9 is sketchy but he's great against the run and supposedly good in coverage. And we need a LB badly so overall I think it was a good pick. I hope we go S, DT next in either order.
4/27/2012 7:05:45 PM
we better go D-Line at 40unless we take a flyer on Jenkins]
4/27/2012 7:12:08 PM
Maybe Curry will be there
4/27/2012 7:16:19 PM
i want WorthyMidwestern State?[Edited on April 27, 2012 at 7:37 PM. Reason : .]
4/27/2012 7:32:26 PM
what/who the FUCK
4/27/2012 7:37:27 PM
wow that dude is a monster]
4/27/2012 7:38:05 PM
4/27/2012 7:38:57 PM
so I guess we're just going to pretend we don't need a tackle like we've been doing since fatass jenkins left
4/27/2012 7:39:32 PM
at least Rucker didn't have trouble pronouncing his name
4/27/2012 7:40:26 PM
I guess they think highly enough 4th round projected D-linemen.
4/27/2012 7:41:23 PM
famous Midwestern State alum
4/27/2012 7:43:57 PM
Panthers are always good for at least one what the Fuck pick. Rashard Anderson, Armanti Edwards, that defensive end who only wore half a jersey in college....What the Fuck just draft someone who played division one in college
4/27/2012 7:48:30 PM
well he sure looked like he beat the shit out of the 5 year olds he was playingif this guy busts i'm chalking it up to hurney packing after the rams stole janoris from us
4/27/2012 7:51:26 PM
This dude is a monster, I'm pretty pumped about this pick actually -- our running game is going to be pretty fucking awesome
4/27/2012 7:53:38 PM
4/27/2012 7:54:29 PM
^1-AA not D2
4/27/2012 7:54:50 PM
If Otah can get healthy the line could be NASTY! or it could be average, guess we'll wait and see.
4/27/2012 8:08:35 PM
Our rushing offense was ranked the best in all of the nfl for the past twenty years so yeah its obviously going to be pretty good this year barring a gangrene outbreak during training camp
4/27/2012 8:24:39 PM
OH MY GOD LOOK AT THIS UNC HAT! YOU CANT EVEN SEE THE PANTHER!
4/27/2012 8:41:59 PM
what about chase minnifield from uva? obviously a position of need and i haven't heard one word about him from any of the talking heads
4/28/2012 9:47:36 AM
i would've liked to see us go with a safety in the 2nd round. You can usually get a quality starter there, but i guess we did need a guard too.Looks like we're still at least a year away from having a competitive defense. Too many holes at DT, CB, S... and possibly LB still depending on our health.
4/28/2012 10:02:42 AM
i'm actually not as worried about the d-line as i was. edwards should help immediately, johnson is still a beast, and hopefully one or both of the rookies makes a good step forward from last season. safety and corner though, well.....
4/28/2012 10:08:28 AM
look- we took two early round DTs last year. they should be improved with time to learn in the offseason and healthy. McClain and Fua will both get a chance to get decent playing time. Ron Edwards is going to start there. we just shored up the spot that is left from releasing Travelle Wharton. I see nothing wrong with that. Clearly this is a guy that Hurney and Rivera saw something major in EARLY on. I am definitely trusting them on this one. He looks flat out mean and plays with an edge. If we can get some secondary with any of our remaining picks, and maybe another DT, i would see this draft as a success. We're really close as a team. Things could come together quite nicely and quickly this year.
4/28/2012 10:31:51 AM
I don't trust Hurney to do shit.Well I guess I trust him more to draft players than to sign free agents, but that's not saying a whole lot.
4/28/2012 10:39:46 AM
Not happy with 2nd round pick. Panthers must show so GREAT decision making and effort today to save the draft. III
4/28/2012 11:52:07 AM
@willbrinson
4/28/2012 12:29:25 PM
goddammit sounds like hurney got that 4th for a 6th this year and next year's thirdalexander and adams better produce
