I have less respect for the person who claims to believe something that is the key to fulfillment/life/truth/happiness, but keeps it to himself. Selfish bastards.and if you enjoy taking things out of context, pdrankin, then i repeat...

I was pretty clear, there is nothing more self-centered and prideful that to believe god is taking a role in allowing you to win football games and letting children die of starvation. God would rather Tebow win. That is a self-centered world view.i also find it humorous that you demand empirical evidence for Tebow acting self-centered, but (based on your posts) it seems you are a believer. Why not the same demand for empirical evidence?[Edited on December 16, 2011 at 4:22 PM. Reason : ...]

but I'm not entirely certain that Tebow is saying that. maybe he has, and I'm not gonna go searchin the interwebs for it, but from what I have seen, Tebow is thanking God for his talent and ability, which is a far cry from saying that God is helping him win games
12/16/2011 4:21:56 PM
12/16/2011 4:24:04 PM
Yeah, I'm not sure where that statement came from besides his pastor, who Tebow disagrees with, since Tebow actually stated himself that God had bigger things to worry about.so stop making stuff up.^with the hundreds of interviews of Tebow talking about God, no one can find a quote from him? weak.[Edited on December 16, 2011 at 4:25 PM. actually, Tebow thanks God for everything he has, then thanks his teammates for winning the game. There's nothing that's self-centered about that, and if you think otherwise, you're a gigantic douche.
12/16/2011 4:24:43 PM
@ aaronburro i think you raise a valid point. It has also been discussed that there are plenty of athletes who take a quick knee or give a point skyward to acknowledge their god, but Tebow makes a production out of it. His "kneel" goes on for quite some time and as such draws way more attention to himself than when Vick points up after rushing for a score. If he did a quick point and gave a quick knee most people probably wouldn't roll their eyes, but its disingenuous to say he doesn't make a production of it.[Edited on December 16, 2011 at 4:26 PM. are yall missing that quote right there where tebow told his teamate not to worry, because god spoke to him? maybe i'm reading too much into that (no), but i'm pretty sure he was saying that god told him they were going to win.[Edited on December 16, 2011 at 4:27 PM. Reason : ]

@AXL Why is it that god seems to disproportionately give "gifts" and "bless" white people? Not just athletes, anecdotally (which can be argued here because anecdotal evidence is what religion is based off of) I have heard plenty of successful business men thank god for a bonus or for floor seats etc. You get my point. God should spend more time blessing inner city children and children who are in poverty than middle-class white people is all.
12/16/2011 4:29:36 PM
Or the second hand quote was taken out of context?Tebow is a notorious hard worker known for putting hours and hours of extra studying and video work in while his teammates are chasing pussy around.http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=lc-carpenter_tim_tebow_alex_smith_draft_broncos_121411Read if you actually want to know what HE says about it...[Edited on December 16, 2011 at 4:34 PM. But there is no context to it! From everything I've read directly from Tebow he doesn't believe God is "pulling strings" for lack of a better phrase to win football games but rather inspiring him to put the hard work in and to best prepare him for those situations.Maybe you're not doing it but many people seem to have this vision of Tebow where he is soft and thinks Gods will is what will help him win games which couldn't be further from truth..
12/16/2011 4:41:39 PM
Yeah, no, i definitely don't think he's soft. I know he's got a serious work ethic. There's no questioning that. However, he does think that god gifted him with his athletic abilities, right? So doesn't that suggest that he didn't gift other people? So he specifically selected Tebow to be a good football player?

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocritesTebows are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues stadiums and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.FIELD GOAL TIME
