That's game overAt least Norv will be gone now.[Edited on December 24, 2011 at 6:33 PM. Reason : Enjoy 1 week in the playoffs]

Can someone explain why they are eliminated? if they win and Denver loses they would all be 8-8 and alllbe tied in the division
12/25/2011 3:01:04 PM
http://sports.espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/50854/nfl-playoff-scenariosonly the Broncos and Raiders have a shot to win the West
12/25/2011 3:16:31 PM
Gee thanks, I said can someone explain a Denver loss and a Raiders loss and a SD win? that link doesn't say what happensthey imply that denver would win but to me it would be a three way tie[Edited on December 25, 2011 at 4:38 PM. Reason : .]
12/25/2011 4:20:34 PM
Goddamn you're stupid. The Broncos have the tiebreaker edge case of a 3-way tie, or a 2-way tie with the Raiders for that matter. How hard is it to understand?[Edited on December 25, 2011 at 7:18 PM. Reason : 2]
12/25/2011 7:17:57 PM
And his location says Denver...
12/25/2011 7:49:53 PM
I asked WHY and you still haven't explained why Denver has the tie-breaker edge, you are just repeating yourself and being a dick... of course I know that Denver has the edge, try reading before insulting
12/25/2011 9:32:24 PM
Win % in common games. Denver won more games against the NFC North and AFC East than the other teams in the division.
12/25/2011 9:45:51 PM
Thanks Andy, I was asking specifically because Denver, Oakland, and San Diego would all end up with 3-3 against all their division and 7-4 in the conference, in that scenario, which is normally the tie-breaker[Edited on December 25, 2011 at 9:52 PM. Reason : .]

Why did they get rid of Sproles?
12/26/2011 10:47:05 PM
Because AJ Smith hasn't made a good personnel decision in 5 years. ]
12/26/2011 10:53:02 PM
We got rid of sproles so that we could run with Ryan Matthews in order to stir nostalgic feelings within Philip Rivers, back to a time when TA Turn-over Anytime McClendon perpetually fumbled balls in key situations during their stint at NCSU. [Edited on December 27, 2011 at 8:44 AM. Reason : l]
12/27/2011 8:41:18 AM
Because they couldn't afford him. You guys don't pay attention to shit.
12/27/2011 8:53:37 AM
On a positive note at least Norv is out the door (hopefully AJ Smith to) and we get bumped up a few slots in the draft!
12/27/2011 9:00:44 AM
lol if you think sproles would have been a difference maker for this offense
12/27/2011 10:05:34 AM
Sproles was going to be the highest paid RB in the NFL (other than maybe Chris Johnson and AP) if they kept him this year.Besides, Matthews does have a fumbling problem but he's still really good.
12/27/2011 10:35:01 AM
Oh, bullshit. Sproles got a 4-year, $14 million deal with New Orleans. The Chargers could've easily afforded that. Instead they made Jeromey Clary the highest paid RT in the league. It makes no fucking sense.
12/27/2011 11:00:04 AM
Jeromey Clary was overpaid, agreed. But their issue is not at the RB position; when healthy, Mathews has been phenomenal and Tolbert is more than adequate as a change-of-pace back filling in for Mathews. In my opinion (and I've thought this for several years), the issue is their coach. The media-hyped notion that the Chargers are the most talented team in the league isn't true at all, but they DO have enough talent to be legitimate playoff contenders, just as they did last year. Sure, Rivers was turning the ball over left and right this year, but I still think if they had a better coach than Norval they'd be in a much better position in the standings. It's for those very reasons that they NEED to keep AJ Smith on as GM. Smith supposedly has great relationships with both Jeff Fisher and Jon Gruden, both of whom would make for excellent replacements for Norval. There have been numerous reports that both Fisher and Gruden would like to work with Smith wherever he ends up (most recently, there are rumors that the Rams plan to hire Smith to lure Gruden into their HC vacancy). Not to mention that Smith has, for the last near decade, consistently compiled enough talent for the Chargers to contend for the Super Bowl. Now, at the same time, his arrogance in contract negotiations has contributed to their loss of several players (Drew Brees, Michael Turner) that have gone on to be great for other teams. Still, I think that if he's paired with a great coach like Fisher or Gruden, they can take the Chargers deep into the playoffs for the next several years, possibly even the Super Bowl. All that being said, there are also rumors that Cowher may have interest in the Chargers job. He's such a big name that he might want total control of personnel like Mike Shanahan in Washington. If THE CHIN really does want to come coach the Chargers and is requesting a dual front-office rule in order to have total control over Chargers personnel, fuck AJ Smith. Fire the fuck out of him. Cowher as the Chargers' head coach would be absolutely amazing.
12/27/2011 2:23:31 PM
You make a reasoned argument, and I agree that Norv is the problem, but AJ Smith HAS to be fired for hiring Norv. It was his decision, and there were several solid candidates out there when AJ settled on Norv. Couple that with his poor drafting over the past 5 years, and it's obvious that AJ is a liability. Time to turn the page.I would be ecstatic about Cowher as Head Coach.

Rivers in the pro bowl, in probably his 2nd worst year. It's incredible how crappy the QB situations of the AFC has been this year. Brady, major drop off to Big Ben, then who? There are probably 7 NFC QBs that would deserve a pro bowl over the #3 in the AFC (which turned out to be Rivers, I expected Dalton or Flacco).

Keeping both AJ and Norv [Edited on January 3, 2012 at 2:34 PM. Reason : Winning the raiders game cost them any chance at future success]
1/3/2012 2:33:47 PM
I'll blame Rivers and the crew for sticking up for Norv when they barely miss the playoffs again next year.
1/3/2012 3:26:02 PM
Yay another year of mediocracy with Norv and AJ.[Edited on January 3, 2012 at 3:38 PM. Reason : a]

just win, maybe

as if there was any doubt, Spanos is absolutely going Major League on San Diego and the Chargers in an effort to suck their way up the 5 to LA
1/3/2012 3:58:06 PM
If they had a real chance at Gruden, Cowher, or Fisher....then they deserve to be stuck in mediocrity with Norv.
1/3/2012 4:16:52 PM
Son of a bitch. I cannot believe they are keeping Norv. This news makes me

Kenny Wiz is the OC. He helped Kurt Warner have a pretty amazing career resurgence in his late 30's. Rivers is only 31 and he has some good young receivers to throw to. They (partially) revamped the OLine, and there will be less reliance on the slow-developing vertical offense. More misdirection, quick strikes, slants and the like, which Rivers excelled at here at State. Don't be surprised if he has a very solid year.
6/20/2013 12:41:35 AM
heard most of an interview on NFL Network (radio on XM) with Philly Cheese a week or two ago, he sounded pumped up about this year, appreciating the draft picks, without saying they're a better team than last year or anything, but more importantly, acknowledging that he made some mistakes...as a Phil fan who doesn't really care about the Chargers but who had him as my fantasy QB recently, for whatever that stipulation means, he seems just as excited as ever for the new season...wouldn't be surprised for a nice 4000+ passing season and 10-6 record and possible wildcard playoff spot...Denver is obviously legit as long as Peyton stays healthy, but I don't buy all the Chiefs hype, they had like 6 Pro Bowlers last year and won like 2 games...only reason they beat the Panthers is cause dude killed himself...but anyway
