Thanks for the heads up. I read the Theon chapter when it was up but don't really remember much from it now Definitely will read this too though.

As much as I loved these books...I can't imagine re-reading them before this fat fuck releases the next book. I'm sure there will be some "cliff notes" version that I can refresh my memory on. I think wikipedia does a good job of that.
1/10/2013 9:52:19 AM
tv show might be caught up by then
1/10/2013 11:07:42 AM
Just finished the last book. Might see the next one in stores in the next couple of years.

GRRM has signed a 2-year development deal with HBO to develop original programming. On top of still serving as Co-EP on GoT. On top of writing one episode per season of GoT.On top of finishing ASoIF. Which at this point seems like it will never happen.
2/6/2013 10:13:56 AM
I knew it. That fat fuck will have a heart attack and die within the next 5 years. He'll never finish the series. Some uber-fan will come in and wrap up the books like that bitch who finished "The Family" by Mario Puzo.
2/6/2013 10:29:15 AM
i have a feeling if that happens they'll just try and finish it on the show if it goes that long since he already told them the general story of how it ends[Edited on February 6, 2013 at 10:38 AM. Reason : ]
2/6/2013 10:38:25 AM
he's got that assistant/confidante that has his own series of fantasy novels right? I'm sure GRRM has entrusted him on what to do if things turn for the worst.
2/6/2013 10:43:43 AM
i hope he kills everyone at the end just to spite all the morons spouting "fat fuck" comments
2/6/2013 10:44:39 AM
ITT we learn that adultswim is a closet fattie??I've always seen GRRM as what the fat comic book store guy from the Simpsons would look like when he got older.
2/6/2013 11:11:48 AM
im skinny as hell son!anyways it's not the fat comments really. it's the attitude of "hope this asshole doesn't die before I get MY books."
2/6/2013 11:21:25 AM
Yeah, apparently GRRM has already told the producers of HBO's GoT the broad outline for how he intended to end the story arc as well as the fate of the remaining characters. So at least the show will go to its final conclusion...
2/6/2013 1:41:09 PM
yeah, nothing like ending a 6 novel anthology via one watered down 13 episode television season. can't wait for that.]
2/6/2013 1:46:30 PM
i almost wish i hadn't read the books between season 2 and 3. Now i'm spending all of my time thinking "this wasn't how it happened or, this wasn't what she said to him" instead of just enjoying the show. oh well.as someone mentioned in the show thread, I was kind of bummed to see them jump right into Barristan Selmy's identity instead of playing the Whitebeard angle, but in such a short amount of time there had to be cuts. ]
4/1/2013 8:08:55 AM
Where is Belwas?
4/1/2013 9:38:47 AM
a casualty of time constraints i'm sure.i was reading Sepinwall's episode review this morning. He's a non-reader and listed Selmy's appearance as one of the most underwhelming reveals in the episode. I hated that, because the Belwas/Whitebeard to Selmy discovery was one of my favorite parts of ASOS]
4/1/2013 9:40:23 AM
i miss strong belwas. he was one of my favorite minor characters.
4/1/2013 9:48:53 AM
I find it completely ridiculous and arbitrary that the "book" thread is the only appropriate thread for discussion commonality between the book and show. A Storm of Swords was released 13 years ago for fuck's sake.
4/1/2013 10:12:41 AM
4/1/2013 10:20:35 AM
i really don't understand why it's such a hard thing to ask from you people
4/1/2013 10:48:03 AM
I don't want anyone messing up my book thread with comparisons to the show!!

this motherfucker will never finish the next book.
4/15/2013 8:43:45 AM

i'm legitimately worried he will die before he finishes the series

A Game of Thrones: 1996A Clash of Kings: 1998A Storm of Swords: 2000A Feast for Crows: 2005A Dance with Dragons: 2011He is 64 now, and is involved in many more side project distractions, like Dunk and Egg and the HBO series. He says that The Winds of Winter will be 1500+ pages and will not be split like the last two. It took him 5 years to write a book half that size. These books are not going to be finished.
4/16/2013 2:13:38 PM
I cant find any Dunk & Egg books online that aren't $texas
4/16/2013 2:24:49 PM
Some were initially released as parts of anthologies and they were pretty cheap little paperbacks if I recall. One was then released in his Dreamsongs books but I can't remember if that was the only place it was ever released or not.In either case, we bought Dreamsongs used and the other two paperback anthologies for pretty cheap ($5 and $7 if I remember correctly). Where are you looking? Maybe the price has gone up or something now?
4/16/2013 2:29:33 PM
I had the same issue when I was looking for them. They are pretty easy to find in pdf form on the internets with just a google search. If you don't mind that sort of thing.
4/16/2013 2:36:28 PM
Wow, I just looked online and they definitely have gone up. I got them just a couple years ago for <half of what Amazon is asking. Guess I shouldn't be surprised with the popularity of the shows and books now.A couple years ago I actually also picked up the comic version of the second tale. It's fun to read but only worth it if you find it for a good deal
4/16/2013 3:07:09 PM
i've really only looked on amazon. i haven't dug around too much because they are SO expensive there, i just don't know that i'd find them anywhere for even close to what i could afford. i'll definitely look for some pdfs. thanks for that idea. (any links? that way i can be lazy about it )
4/16/2013 4:09:17 PM
is there even enough story left for him to cover if jon snow is a targaryen or not and if he is dead in winds of winter does it even mater anymore?
4/16/2013 7:43:41 PM
hes got at least 3000 pages left to work with, and thats assuming he only does 2 more books and doesn't end up being like robert jordan and deciding to just keep making more till he drops and leaves the story to be finished by his editor/spouse.I'm waiting for it all to end up being a dream by bran and martin to just end it with the words "fuck you"
4/16/2013 9:32:30 PM
4/16/2013 11:02:58 PM
If john snow is Lyanna's kid instead of Eddard's he would still be a bastard correct
4/30/2013 9:46:28 PM
^ yes, since rhaegar was married to elia martell
4/30/2013 10:31:33 PM
a little irritated they left the other tyrell brothers out of the storyline for the show. what say you all to that? i guess it's not a big deal but i found it interesting in the books.
5/6/2013 2:15:50 PM
^^^Not necessarily. The theory is that he actually married Lyanna before dying on the Trident, so Jon may in fact be legitimate. Aegon the First had three wives and there were other Targaryens who practiced polygamy so it's not unprecedented. I mean, why would three Kingsguard remain at the Tower of Joy to protect a mistress and an illegitimate bastard?[Edited on May 6, 2013 at 4:21 PM. Reason : :]
5/6/2013 4:20:29 PM
Yeah actually the more I think about it the kingsguard are supposed to protect the royal family and that is the only thing that would justify three of them being in the tower unless they were just ordered by the prince to stay there

So I just finished listening to the fourth book in audiobook form, and I am not entirely sure I want to buy/read this summer the fifth. The pacing of the fourth book was god awful and the ending was extremely disappointing. Here's what I want to know since this thread allows spoilers:- What's the deal with Arya being blind? More aptly, does she see again? ("Sorta" and "it's interesting" are acceptable answers in lieu of an explanation)- I imagine that book five deals a lot with Danarys (sp.). That said, will I actually give a crap when reading/hearing about her unlike in the past books?- Will there be more about Bran and his nifty "dances with wolves" ability?- Will Littlefinger continue to be interesting/scheming?- Is the pacing/plot better than the fourth book? I know this is subjective, but I can not imagine people honestly loving the fourth book.
3/21/2014 9:59:48 PM
The fourth book was awful compared to the others. Dany is by far the worst storyline just get over it.http://antidaenerys.tumblr.com/page/2Read the 5th book, don't be a pussy.[Edited on March 21, 2014 at 11:24 PM. Reason : ]
