lol i have never heard of any of the bands on this bill other than the local rock/metal bands and the 3 big metal/rock bands that are coming, which is like 7 total bands. lolI'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.

Ugh, I'm really mad about the schedule. Almost every band I want to see overlaps at 10:30PM to 12:30AM on Saturday. In that block alone I want to see: Bombadil, Lost in the Trees, Titus Andronicus, Yelawolf and The Old Ceremony. Bombadil has first priority, and secondary priority is split between Lost in the Trees, The Old Ceremony, and Titus Andronicus.
6/13/2011 2:51:56 AM
Don't be dumb. Old Ceremony and LITT are local and play around here x293023. Go see TA (McClendon).
6/13/2011 11:24:11 AM
Earth, Toro, swans, rhys, thats whats up
6/13/2011 11:53:09 AM
i really wanna see twin shadow and swans. and i forgot about earthi just can't look at the schedule until like august. i am getting too anxious about conflicts. last year everything worked out and i ended up at some shows i hadn't planned on going to and missing some i had and i was still happy with the experience. MUST REMAIN CALM.
6/13/2011 3:07:47 PM
Lol I can't believe you like earthI'm astraladvent and I approved this message

I, also, will be at the Earth show.

People really like Yelawolf? I know it's cool as all hell to like the new underground darlings whenever they peep their heads, but can't we uphold some kind of standard? It's just not very good, or new, or anything.
6/13/2011 6:07:49 PM
i like having fun and i think it has the potential to be really fun considering the rest of the night at lincoln right before that but there is also other stuff i'd like to see that night. i'd like to catch part of it.in general i like fun and am not a fun hater. so i like to go where i think i will have fun.
6/13/2011 6:29:07 PM
I've got three categories; the must-sees, the maybes, and the hell no's/the schedule screwed me. I recommend doing this maybe category, because I challenge anyone to strictly adhere to a schedule. My mentality is that we'll just see what we feel like when the time comes, and there's also the possibility of the venue being crammed full. Unfortunately, the Love Language gets an X this year, and it's only because of schedule. I have no idea what they were thinking with this. And though it looks like they just threw darts at a bunch of bands to figure it out, I'm more excited about Moogfest this year anyway...
6/13/2011 6:45:31 PM
I don't really give a shit about Yelawolf, but he's signed to Interscope and his album features guest spots from Gucci Mane, Bun B & Raekwon. not exactly underground.

something inside of me fosters deep hatred for surfer blood. maybe its weezer's embarassing decline. or maybe its their shameless embrace of reverb (think best coast) because its trendy. I dunno. I think I like Vampire Weekend better.
6/21/2011 6:34:33 PM
surfer blood is a really odd band to hate
6/21/2011 6:38:18 PM
The trend of pushing reverb-soaked bands came after Surfer Blood had developed their sound, methinks.
6/21/2011 8:42:39 PM
This is apparently going to be GBV's last show. From Bob's Facebook page:

7/19/2011 1:39:57 PM
I only listened to them when they were called Monarch...
7/19/2011 2:22:16 PM
Would anyone care to have a serious conversation about the band Mouthus and how they're considered music or a band?
7/20/2011 11:19:50 AM
not familiar with what mouthus has done in the past few years, but they used to always be classified as noise. they had some floppy-ass strings on those guitars. they were okay when i saw them open for yellow swans at duke. pretty sure a few more tdubers were there.
7/20/2011 11:22:48 AM
I guess I understand all that, I just don't understand anybody's desire to attend a "noise" show. Anyway, I've been casually going through this lineup trying to determine who not to see. I'm compiling a list of the worst bands of this year's fest, and have come up with these so far:1. Mouthus2. Frontier Ruckus3. Filthybird4. Oxbow5. Xiu Xiu6. Little Scream7. Dinosaur Feathersetc.[Edited on July 20, 2011 at 11:42 AM. Reason : d][Edited on July 20, 2011 at 12:00 PM. Reason : Too soon on that last one.]

itt scrumples shows a misogynist streak
7/20/2011 11:53:29 AM
I like Oxbow and Little Scream but I probably won't see eitherfuck that Xiu Xiu dude though and his bullshit music. it seems that once you get in your 30s (really after you get out of high school) you might drop the whole "life sucks I'm miserable" thing but not him.
7/20/2011 12:03:41 PM
I still like Xiu Xiu, but he's not been essential listening for a while.. And they scheduled The Love Language during his set, so I'll be missing him at hopscotch
7/20/2011 12:27:49 PM
Since the first I'd heard about that Williford case was just a few minutes ago from some pre-trial hearing, can someone tell me what band this creep was in?
7/20/2011 1:59:29 PM
One Xiu Xiu album did it for me, A Promise. That was the only record ive heard in a long time that made me feel uncomfortable and thoroughly scared/creeped out. granted i was essentially baked and listening to it for the first time on cranked headphones alone in a pitch black room but that turned out to be the perfect environment to connect with the utter futility and desperation of the album. i felt like i was reaching out and touching pure evil. it was awesome.his other albums are pretty lame in comparison.
7/20/2011 2:19:10 PM
"the authority"a"progressive reggae" band
7/20/2011 2:21:00 PM
7/20/2011 2:28:08 PM
Well I hope her songs are better than the two on the Hopscotch website. Not impressed whatsoever.
7/20/2011 3:05:06 PM
Can we all agree that Filthybird is the worst act of Hopscotch? This is so. terrible.
7/22/2011 12:19:41 PM
7/22/2011 12:31:29 PM
The worst act of Hopscotch is Xiu Xiu
7/22/2011 12:36:25 PM
I mean, there's just "terrible" in a range of ways this year. I seriously don't know why anyone would want to see Frontier Ruckus. I have no idea, NO IDEA what's going on in either of these two songs on the Hopscotch website. Time signatures all over the place, I whole bunch of rambling lyrics and whining. Just...why? How can this be appealing to anybody?[Edited on July 22, 2011 at 12:43 PM. Reason : k]
7/22/2011 12:43:14 PM
this new bluegrass shit does nothing for mei fucking love little scream, thougha lot of it is like bear in heaven (which i also love) but with a more organic sound palette
7/22/2011 12:50:36 PM
I can see how they are too whiney for some people's taste. I've even had that same discussion with someone I am trying to convince to go.I actually like them lyrically, especially in the first song on the Hopscotch website -- complicated nostalgia, good snippets of imagery in there, etc.*shrug*I'm not gonna walk across town to see them, but if the schedule works out I'll try to see them
