This is kinda old by now, but didn't see it in this thread, new single from Justice... http://blogs.1077theend.com/internbryce/2011/03/27/first-listen-justice-civilizatio-full-song/. It's all up in a new Adidas commercial.

i know i'm a homer, but i don't care

new pearl jam vs/ vitalogy reissues are great... unlike the ten reissue, they just got remastered (not remixed [and ten is STILL too processed]), the extra tracks (as usual) are odd and instead of being a collection of b-sides of vs/vitalogy like they probably should be, are way too rough versions of songs and then remasters of other shit that's like wtf (crazy mary?)

but i suppose that's the way they are and will always be... self-sabotaging

i made the mistake of listening to the live cd on the way home (which is, of course is incomplete and edited, because even by 1993/94, they'd committed to the springsteen model of playing way long live shows with an average 2 encores that won't fit on a single cd) and then following it up with the austin city limits boot that i have on mp3

and of course i was like, damn eddie, for the love of God, if it wasn't for your drinking and smoking, the 2002-present years would be way better (THE best era of pearl jam, regardless of "rawr rawr" IS the 1994-2000 period, most notably when jack irons was drummer [yield kicks ten's ass any day])... but of course that mofo kept talking and eventually i remembered why i cared in the first place when i kept it rolling.. story telling and my own personal nostalgia (the bends is still my favorite radiohead album, who cares)

i love nirvana (major part of my life growing up), but they get too much sainthood and pearl jam catches too much shit for no good reason

"not for you"

haven't heard the vs/vitalogy reissues. i assumed they'd just be like the ten reissue and just be loud as shit. glad to hear that's not the case. i'm planning on picking up a copy of vitalogy on vinyl on record store day. i'm far more excited about that than i am about the news that they'd start recording a new album in april. backspacer left the worst taste in my mouth, and i was appalled at a recent NPR podcast about 90s music when the hosts were playing clips of their favorite songs from the 90s, and anne powers picked "the fixer" from backspacer to somehow prove that pearl jam is still relevant, even though they aren't, and they haven't been for years. not sure what kind of credibility she's trying to build with a shitty song from 2009 when pearl jam recorded some pretty iconic 90s material. i'm dreading whatever they put out later this year. they could've gone in a really interesting direction 11 years ago when they made binaural, but instead we got...well...what we got last decade. at least there's still the no code and yield reissues to look forward to over the next few years...

just to be clear, i love their first 5 albums. i can't say that about too many other bands.

pearl jam is def not relevant anymore

that's for sure

if i had to pick random songs off of the last 10 years that said they had lost touch, but still could make a gem of a song tho, it wouldn't have been fixer

two that come to mind

stolen from the beatles tho :-)

it's not important that they're not important anymore... but even pitchfork makes a deal to haul out the latest releases every time they come out and talk about how it seems that they used to be important, but can't muster the balls to be important anymore... i guess they're now the dad's rock band and the type of people who used to follow the grateful dead now wonder around following pearl jam

oh well, i'll always have my 17 year old brain tucked somewhere mowing lawns and not knowing what an internet was

it was the most succinct way to sum up my love/hate relationship with Panda Bear.

i think almost 3/4ths the album is available by just googling it for those asking for a copy.

I've been listening to Mother Mother's Eureka a lot since I got it last week. I was never a big fan of them before, but I absolutely love this album.

Wondering if anyone else has weighed in on it.

The new Thursday album is actually very solid. After Full Collapse I was kind of lukewarm on anything they did for a long time. The album they put out a few years back was actually decent but this new one might be my favorite of theirs since Full Collapse by a long shot. Very textured and just feels more polished (in a good way) than their last several albums. Definitely worth checking out if you were a fan of them at some point.

man, didn't like that TV on the Radio album at all. yuck.

v yeah, this probably doesn't go over well with some people, but I've always said if TV On The Radio was just a bunch of white guys they wouldn't get nearly the amount of acclaim that they do. people love seeing black dudes do "indie rock"

TVOTR is one of my favorite bands and it definitely couldn't have less to do with them being black. Plus, if it were true that critics would hail any indie rock artist that were black because they like seeing black dudes do indie rock, wouldn't Bloc Party get more acclaim?

The Black Kids is another one, their frontman is black and just about everybody agrees that that band fucking blows.

Back to TVOTR, though, there's also the fact that one of the two guys that are most responsible for their sound, Dave Sitek, couldn't be whiter. I feel like the acclaim for TVOTR stems from the fact that they seamlessly mesh several disparate genres and influences together and still make really compelling songs. To me, there a great band that just happens to be black. That's just my opinion, though. That said, I'm not nuts about the new record. I think it's good, but not great.

unless you're Pitchfork and you fellate them after an EP, invite them to Pitchforkfest and talk them up as the next greatest thing, and then destroy them when they release an LP that contains mostly the same re-worked songs as the original EP.

^ ha. the "review" of that was classic.

at least they had the balls to admit they were wrong. sucks for the black kids, but the truth is the truth. they suck.

The main reason why I like them...I listen to a ton of shit, and they're one of the toughest to label a specific genre to. The songwriting's excellent, and it's pretty good sex music also.

That being said...I'm still on the fence with their new one. There are some really good songs on there, and some that don't sound like any effort was put forth whatsoever.

i tried to temper my expectations for tomboy because of how good person pitch was, but damn this album is great too. there's so much going on in every song. "alsatian darn" is currently my favorite track.

the new battles it out there now too and it sounds pretty good so far.

i should just not worry about studio recordings from the AC gang because they never sound as good as the early versions of their songs for me

i feel like it's slowed down to a crawl to the point that because i already know the song i'm like cmoooooooooooon

What the fuck is that? It sounds like something Christian Lander and Maddox would have collabed on when they were like 14.

I'm reading through this site now, intrigued, and trying to decide if it's some kind of joke.
