but i dont own anyi just meant i wish the share prices were cheaper so i could actually buy a significant amount of shares[Edited on June 21, 2011 at 1:53 PM. Reason : .]

# of shares shouldn't matter at all. Why does it matter if you own 5 shares or 50? What's important is the amount of dollars you invest, and sure a high share price does affect the granularity with which you can invest, but even then, unless you're buying berkshire hathaway, it shouldn't be _that_ big of an issue.

I only have a few grand in the market, I'm not a big trader, hence my inability to buy much GOOG without putting more assets into the market]
6/21/2011 2:02:42 PM
Goog is only at $500. You really shouldn't be trading in lots <$500 due to fees eating up all your profits.
6/21/2011 3:43:49 PM
glad I didn't do anything with RIMM... it went the other way up ~$2.60 today

I actually had a financial advisor laugh at me for buying 5 shares of Google once. I don't remember the exact price but I believe it was about $600 so ~$3k with a $7.95 online commission.~They were like why would you even bother buying 5 shares of something. I was like if I bought 100 shares of a $30 stock would that be notable?I couldn't believe they couldn't grasp that concept. And I don't mean a 22 year old AXA rep. This was a very successful person.
6/21/2011 5:57:10 PM
^ that is pretty stupid of the advisor. I like buying in equal 100 share amount, but just because I like to look quickly and see what I am up or down in a day. Change +0.40 = $40, durr...But I don't see the big deal with buying smaller shares if that's what you desire. I've heard it's "harder to get rid of them later", but I doubt it now with online trading volume.Either way $3k in 5 shares or $3k in 100 shares... who cares

6/22/2011 10:18:42 AM
^ It's really more than that when you think about it. To buy and sell would be 10 dollars, you would have to make 20%+ for it to be worth it.
6/22/2011 11:11:57 AM
Yeah, point being, it shouldn't matter if GOOG is $500 a share.
6/22/2011 11:54:07 AM
is anyone else riding SOLR?
6/22/2011 12:33:31 PM
^yesbought 100 shares when it was $12.60 wondering how long i'm gonna hold onto it though]
6/22/2011 1:08:21 PM
^^I'm in at 12.19. Thinking of cashing out today though
6/22/2011 1:44:15 PM
Might be a good day to cash out, I'm thinking well see a small pullback but the general trend is still up
6/22/2011 1:45:04 PM
Whats your price target?
6/22/2011 1:53:24 PM
I'm in it for the long haul, I might take profits here and there but I'm thinking 20 is when I'll jump out, even if that's a year or more away
6/22/2011 1:59:00 PM
There's just no reason to be in the market right now.
6/23/2011 9:47:32 AM
Market way down, SOLR up
6/23/2011 10:35:39 AM

6/23/2011 3:57:42 PM
haha very true. Impressive run by AAPL on its way to $200
6/24/2011 12:36:41 AM
Exactly...cherry-picking 8 hours of data is not a legitimate indicator. While I don't believe your prediction to be accurate, I don't have a dog in your fight. Your unfounded grandstanding is just a bit overzealous.
6/24/2011 9:37:02 AM
wow, SOLR keeps going up against the market, I'm not a technical guy but we have to be heading into overbought territory here
6/24/2011 11:49:21 AM
I'd say it is. I'm not a technical expert either but here are my thouhts on this charthttps://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/d1WFhXv8vX9lejrt7ul0aeGRTo-ReHPMUsiTz9dk0Jk?feat=directlinkOn a daily chart basis it has been very predictably hugging its EMA20. When it gets a little overextended it pulls back. You can see we are getting a ways from it now. As of now if it closes where it is then it will have painted a hanging star candle which is often a reversal pattern indicator. The volume on this move over the past couple of weeks has been decreasing meaning a bit of exhaustion on the buy side. And, I'm no MACD or Stocastic expert but you can see what has happened in the past couple of months at previous levels.Look at near term price levels there appears to be some significance at around the 13.50 level and in a pull back would likely be the point at which the rising EMA20 would hit it. I haven't been following this stock other than seeing you guys comment on it here but if it pulls back to that level and volume appears to build I'll likely hop on the train with you. A fail there an the next level would be 12.75 where the EMA50 would likely hit and in the event of a broader market selloff 11.75 would provide VERY strong support.[Edited on June 24, 2011 at 12:28 PM. Just don't understand the mindset behind owning stocks during a crash
6/24/2011 12:27:29 PM
Your comment is irrelevant.

^^ How do you know when to buy back in so you don't miss the rebound?

6/24/2011 3:39:52 PM
What do you have them set to?
6/24/2011 3:43:55 PM
.30 cents, im guessing they will trigger on monday.
6/24/2011 4:09:55 PM
Yeah, most likely. 30 cents is nothing as volatile as this thing as been
6/24/2011 6:45:40 PM
TreeTwista10 might see his SOLR target @ 16 today
