9/30/2010 10:25:49 AM

9/30/2010 10:29:43 AM

9/30/2010 10:45:44 AM
Me 3. Halo is like Nicoderm CQ...Black Ops will be like Unfiltered Pall Mall's

http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Rank_%28Halo%3A_Reach_Game_Rank%29haha, I'm like 5k from Lt. Colonel and WO Grade 3 was still the longest fucking rank I've gone through.
9/30/2010 5:13:54 PM
I don't get why they didn't have all the ranks available already. what's the point of holding them back?
9/30/2010 5:35:07 PM
ever play mariokart on the hardest difficulty, get half a lap ahead of all the computer dudes and automagically they're powersliding around you on the last turn... it's kind of like that.

I'm almost to the end of the campaign. I'm stuck on the MAC turret on heroic (fucking goddammit). I've really enjoyed how the multiplayer maps are integrated into the storyline.
10/1/2010 6:02:44 PM
You mean how they copy and pasted the maps out of laziness?
10/1/2010 6:16:23 PM
the maps they made in Forge are terrible. The others aren't so bad.
10/1/2010 6:27:59 PM
Yea thats what I have disliked the most, I hate seeing the same textures in everymap. I know it was to "save space" or whatever their excuse is but this doesn't feel like a complete Halo game because all the multiplayer maps... kinda suck. The only good ones are the Halo 2 remakes and even then they aren't that good because they don't play nearly as well on Reach as they did on H2.
10/1/2010 6:36:15 PM
I hate the cage. Also, hemorrhage is almost always a snoozefest. I don't mind sword base with jet packs but it's an absolute piece of shit on slayer pro.
10/1/2010 7:18:08 PM
there should be some daily challenges that are harder and worth more points. I enjoy having something different to try every day I log in, but on those days where I'm not working and play with friends a lot, having a bigger goal would make it more appealing.

^I guess my beef would be more with the weekly challenges. I don't get on every single day for the daily challenges, but usually I knock out the weekly challenge on the first day of the week I play. There have also been times where a daily challenge is tougher & worth more points than a weekly challenge. What about a weekly challenge like play 1 complete game of every game type this week, worth like 5,000 credits.
10/4/2010 2:57:38 PM
FYI, according to the latest Bungie Weekly Update, the matchmaking playlist update will be implemented TOMORROW.SWAT will have its own playlist.Team Snipers won't have it's own playlist yet (it definitely will eventually, just not yet), but the weighting for the Snipers gametype will be greatly reduced in the Team Slayer playlist. Which means it will show up less in the voting round.I'm not sure if it's part of tomorrow's update or the one later this month, but betrayal-booting will be returned to the Halo 3 standard of "3 strikes you're out" instead of the current 1-strike setting. And of course that is still dependent on the person hitting X or B to boot or forgive you after your 3rd betrayal.
10/4/2010 3:14:25 PM
I wish they'd move infection off of Rumble Pit. Sometimes I'd like to play slayer.
10/4/2010 3:38:07 PM
I have a copy of Reach for sale with the Spartan Recon Helmet code unused in the box. $40
10/4/2010 3:39:53 PM
the weekly challenge this week is pretty lengthy. 50 firefight rounds. Don't think I'll be completing that one.
10/4/2010 5:22:00 PM
50 rounds of firefight or 50 games?Because in most of the FF gametypes, there's a bunch of rounds per game.
10/4/2010 5:23:32 PM
Is there anyway for Bungie to patch the firefight lag? Or button-delay-lag-whatever-they-call it?
10/4/2010 5:44:44 PM
50 total games. I was hoping it was each round within a game but unfortunately not.
10/4/2010 6:07:12 PM
10/4/2010 9:22:39 PM
The weekly challenge made me fucking laugh. 3000 cR for playing 50 firefight games. I played 1.5 games of gruntpocalypse today and got the 1500 cR daily. YES Bungie, YES. Motherfuckers fail at credit weighting.
10/4/2010 9:46:33 PM
I care more about having completed every weekly challenge rather than the amount of credits I earn from it.
10/4/2010 10:01:00 PM
I wish you could check boxes for specific games you want to play in Matchmaking, and ignore ones you don't like. Race, for example, can go die in a fire.

finally got Major and the EVA helmet. now all I need is the black visor.

My black visored decked out Grenadier with prosthetic arm is where it's at, son.

http://www.ign.com/videos/2010/09/30/halo-reach-top-10-kills-92910?show=HD#5 FTW. That is one badass kill. The new SWAT playlist is nice, but it seems like I only get paired up with people ranked WAY above me and then I get owned.
10/6/2010 3:39:49 AM
yeah #5 is sweet. that video shows the versatility of armor lock though
10/6/2010 9:59:15 AM
damn i didn't even know rockets actually BOUNCE off of armor lock...filing that away for later
10/6/2010 12:33:06 PM
yeah that video inspired me to use armor lock more on BTB. At least 3 times over only a few matches I killed people in vehicles that tried to run me over by using it. Pretty effective in those situations.
10/6/2010 1:22:24 PM
What armor abilities do you guys find the best to use? I swear it seems I suck with everything but camo and sprint. Armor lock seems to be nearly useless except for vehicle heavy maps. Jetpack just makes you a slow moving target. Hologram is okay against crappy players, but seems to suck against good players. And, drop shield only appears to be useful in firefight. I can't remember any of the other ones...if there are other ones.
10/6/2010 2:55:32 PM
Drop shield actually seems OP in most objective games, though i think they patched that
10/6/2010 3:16:01 PM
In order from my most-used to least-used:Sprint/Evade - General purpose. It's nice to be able to run to the aid of your teammates, or run away from grenades. Also useful for making jumps over longer gaps. Best AA in Headhunter.Hologram - True, good players are never fooled for more than a second, but often that second is enough to give you an advantage. I find it more useful as a decoy when standing than when running. If I'm sniping from the top of Reflection I'll have a hologrom standing next to me or possibly facing the elevator.Jetpack - I tend to use it on specific levels. The Cage, Boardwalk, Spire and maybe Boneyard. I might use it on Sword Base, but Sprint+Grav Lifts are just as effective for getting around.Armor Lock - I only recently started using this one to cut down on my deaths in Arena. Basically any time you hear a grenade bounce near you go into lock. Splatter prevention in BTB. Really only useful in team gametypes where someone will save you or distract your enemy.Drop Shield - Useful in Assault for arming/disarming (although I think they've removed it from those gametypes).Active Camo - If I use this, it's more for the Radar Jammer aspect. I never camp, I'm always running towards the fight, so the cloaking effect really doesn't do much for me.
10/6/2010 3:28:40 PM
^I feel the exact opposite on Camo.I hate the radar-jammer aspect of it. Not only does it let your enemy know that there's a stealthed player nearby, but it jams you, too. If I'm using it, I've either been forced to retreat or I'm trying to move behind enemy lines without getting shot at. Though I will agree that camping sucks. It's boring, and it's not really much of an advantage in 1-on-1 fights, anyway, unless you're trying to assassinate people (and those people are somewhat oblivious).Hell, that's one of the better things about Reach... in one-on-one encounters, the most skilled shooter usually wins.[Edited on October 7, 2010 at 5:05 AM. More talk about the halo moviehttp://movies.ign.com/articles/112/1125896p1.html
10/7/2010 6:47:15 AM
I wish I could just let this go, but the fact that Reach is a prequel is driving me crazy for one single reason: the weapons. From a story point of view, did the UNSC decide to stockpile all of their 60-round magazines for the assault rifle on the Pillar of Autumn? And they also apparently put all of the good rockets - you know, the ones which fly faster than 15mph - on the same ship. It's just really aggravating to me to see that the arsenal in each Halo game has gotten progressively weaker from game to game.
10/7/2010 8:45:06 AM
^ I can't tell if this is a serious post or not.Are you really expecting them to not balance the weapons for each game? Do you really want there to have been four Halo games with the exact same Assault Rifle? And so what if this was a prequel. Reach was a military stronghold and research planet, so the in-canon excuse is that all of these prototypes were lost when Reach was glassed. You complain about weapons getting weaker from game-to-game, but at the same time complain that the weapons in the prequel are weaker than the one after it. Make up your mind!As for weaker from game-to-game, I don't know if you've noticed, but the following weapons are all more powerful than they were in the last game: Pistol, Shotgun, Rocket launcher, Plasma Pistol, Needler, Spiker, Grenades----------------------
