Yeah, I don't know how that's going to work. I have google voice integration enabled now, which transcribes all my VM's, and I use a gvoice app to listen to them (ala visual voicemail). Will be nice to cut those two apps out.I'm just surprised how much better everything is. I honestly really enjoyed the phone with NoDo, but damn, Mango really is delivering.

Posted this on a friends' wall, but it hadn't been brought up here yet: http://www.neowin.net/news/wp7?-mango-custom-ringtones-detail?edAlso worth noting is that you can use http://audiko.net/ to create your ringtones from MP3s and/or take iPhone ringtones and use that to convert them to MP3 for WP7.
7/12/2011 9:23:43 AM
to those with Mango builds...can you do turn by turn voice directions and watch a movie at the same time with the new "multitasking"? I just really miss the days when my Windows Mobile phone or *sigh* Android would be able to read directions out loud while i had a netflix movie / whatever video on for a passenger in the car during road trips.
7/12/2011 9:32:41 AM
^^Sweet, it sounds like you'll be able to natively take a sound clip from Zune and use it as a ringtone.Should have been in at release, but whatever.

For now I'm still stuck with Blackberry, but eventually I'm going to be moving on to either WP7 or AndroidOnly things keeping me from embracing WP7 completely after I've seen what Mango can do are:1) Lack of Swype (I saw some swype like keyboard has been released but I've read that it sucks)2) Still no Flash3) No NES/SNES emulators (Microsoft won't allow them)4) Phones still pretty bland (hopefully Nokia has something cool up their sleeve)
7/13/2011 9:43:41 PM
the last thing i'd want on a phone os is flash
7/13/2011 11:49:01 PM
^Seriously. My fiance has the Evo 4G. Flash is fucking awful. Existing flash apps dont work for shit on mobile devices, and the only REAL need for flash on mobile was for youtube, which is now a moot point.

So it seems like they're really pushing hard on the facebook integration with the contacts etc.--where does that leave those of us who don't want facebook to have anything to do with our phones? I hardly ever check my fb account and would prefer my mobile device not to be inundated with status updates and profile pictures. I'm presuming that this can be dealt with by simply not actively linking contacts to facebook--or does it attempt to do that automatically and it's something that you have turn off? After a brief return to health, my Touch Pro 2 is in bad shape again and I'm trying to decide whether WP7 (HTC Arrive) or Android (Evo 4G or 3D) is a better choice for me.

Next beta is out (it's not the RTM, even though that's been finalized) but all the Twitter stuff seems to work.
7/27/2011 2:49:15 PM
lol, my phone crashed and wiped the memory completely. Luckily all the contacts were sync'd to Live and the pictures loaded into Zune on my computer. Now I just need to setup my accounts again and re-download all the apps. Yay.
7/29/2011 9:23:24 AM
Did it crash, turn off, then reboot into nothingness? If so, and if you have a Focus, try turning it off and on again. When my memory card was dying it would do that from time to time.
7/29/2011 1:44:16 PM
so how terrible is the browser, I'm considering making the switch from android
7/29/2011 7:55:40 PM
i give it a B-works fine 95% of the time. font rendering is pretty disappointing on most sites in portrait mode, but i browse in landscape most of the time anyways and it's usually ok then. the current browser is IE7 based, the Mango update is IE9 and supposed to be a lot better.
7/29/2011 9:12:19 PM
Mango browser is A+.If you want to try it out, just let me know.
7/29/2011 9:53:38 PM
^ Yep. Definitely agree it went from a B- to a solid A. IE9 on Mango is measurable faster loading, and more responsive. Renders small text much better too.
7/29/2011 10:32:01 PM
I want to try it out Stein.
7/29/2011 11:54:41 PM
This was sort of a special offer for BigMan157 since I spend 8 hours a day with him.
7/30/2011 12:10:32 AM
Oh, haha.
7/30/2011 12:32:40 AM
I installed some updates and my phone screen would go dark while I made a call and when I was done it stayed dark. Did some searching and this worked for mehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849604I'm guessing my proximity sensor was reset to 1, so I set it to 30 and it's working fine now.

well....I installed the Mango beta 2 yesterday and it's great! I can't wait for Mango apps to be released that take advantage of the new "multitasking" capabilities. there's a bit to be desired still, and I understand this is still not finished, but overall, MS is doing a great job thus far giving us a phone OS that just works!
8/2/2011 8:31:46 AM
If that Nokia Sea Ray that's been shown off in some places really is just a slightly modified N9, it's very tempting. That thing looks pretty sweet.
8/17/2011 10:43:54 AM
Mango has started to be deliveredhttp://windowsteamblog.com/windows_phone/b/windowsphone/archive/2011/09/27/windows-phone-7-5-mango-update-begins.aspx

Update in progress....
10/4/2011 8:56:07 PM
You behind the times mannnnnn!
10/4/2011 9:36:31 PM
lol. Like so far:Zoom in on Triangle Town Center in maps. Awesome.Speech command while phone is locked.Forward and back available without having to hit the volume button.Custom ringtones (wtf microsoft why did it take you a year)Games Hub shows you everything without having to launch that ghetto "Xbox Live Extras" app.Integrating Facebook and Messenger Chat into texts."Multi-tasking"OneNote todo lists (awesome for grocery lists).Me hub ftw.Camera settings saved and click on screen to take picture options. Sharing videos finally.
10/5/2011 10:41:32 AM
Outside the "tap to get next step" aspect of it, the Turn by Turn on the phone is excellent if you haven't tried it yet.
10/5/2011 11:01:29 AM
Yeah it is pretty neat, tried it out at lunch. At least you can just tap the screen anywhere and it will tell you what your next step is at any time. Also you can listen to music at the same time.Guess Facebook integration needs some work still. Got a message 5 hours ago and nothing shows up in either my messaging tile or my notifications. 10/5/2011 1:39:34 PM
Still waiting on my update. I have a Samsung Focus. v1.3If I don't get it soon, I may try the method above
10/12/2011 3:20:14 PM
When is the Focus S rumored to be coming out?Other than the upcoming Nokias it's the only one that really excites me. The Titan is just too large.
10/12/2011 3:30:52 PM
http://www.windowsphone.com/marketplace owns. The whole "download and install app/game" to your phone aspect works perfectly. You can also get to a list of apps you've installed at any point and have a one click web-based reinstall.
10/13/2011 12:31:56 AM
^Wow, I'm ashamed to say I had no idea you could do that. And you're right, it does work almost magically.
10/13/2011 12:46:33 AM

no mango for me yet and I could never get that trick to work.
10/24/2011 12:51:44 PM
I would buy a wp7 handset if there was one with 512-1gb ram, slide out keyboard 3.7-4.5" screen, 1ghz+ pref dual core, on a gsm network.
10/24/2011 1:39:48 PM
