Are we sure about that? The broadcast is saying if US gets one more they are through if the 3-0 Brazil lead holds...

[Edited on June 21, 2009 at 3:58 PM. Reason : they just said like 10 times that 3-0, 3-0 would be good enough b/t both espn/2]

And Bradley again with a headscratching sub

Leaving Dempsey in who is sucking ass and taking off Altidore

If Italy get shut out and we win 3-0 and Brazil wins 3-0 we advance on goals scored

Dempsey with the goal fml

We can't let this result blind us to the fact that Bob Bradley still needs to be fired.

Holy cow.

It's not very often that you're 3 points and 6 goals down on a team going into the final game, and you end up beating them out.

I'm not shocked at all. Brazil had scored no less than 3 goals on every team they played going into the final day and Egypt did give up 3 goals vs Brazil, so it's not like they have the best defense in the world. I noticed Gooch used his left foot to clear the ball once today. If he had done that vs Italy we probably would have tied.

i dont see how you aren't even a little shocked...i keep saying italy blow and are getting old (and i better not hear any other counter points cause this just proved it), but they did just win the world cup. and the usa...they have shown nothing impressive and other than the first 45 of the italy game, didnt even look like they wanted to be here. so i am very very very shocked...

a) when is the last time italy has been beaten this bad in a tournament?

and

b) when has the usa ever come up with a result with their backs completely against the wall?

^I was half joking, but I knew Brazil had the talent to put 3 in the net I just figured we would win 2-0, or 2-1 IF we even managed to win.

man, the egyptian papers are blasting the Egyptian coach. He's getting skewered over the starting lineup, which had some of the weakest players on the team. He switched up after halftime but it was too late.

The US played really determined yesterday, you could see it, they wanted it more. Good win for US of A

Good win for USA. I don't think any one is delusional enough to expect a win versus Spain, but this buys another two games, as their is a 3rd place game. Should be good experience for the younger guys.

should be...

too bad Adu and Torres haven't seen any minutes yet... they probably will against RSA after Spain dismantles us

epic win but it's another example of winning in spite of our coach... 2 more horrible substitutions but at least he didn't bring on Beasley, I probably would have broken something. As horrible as Dempsey was all game against Egypt, he did score a sick 3rd goal on an awesome ball from Spector

The Charlie Davies goal was nice. It was just a hustle play all the way.

Dempsey once again proves his unpredictability by scoring a kickass header.

I didn't even know when this game was played because I didn't think we had a chance to move on.

^^I thought I was going to break something when he brought Connor Casey on, a fatter, slower, less-skilled Wayne Rooney.

Ditto.

On a side note, I get scared whenever the ball is within 10 yards of Spector.

FWIW, my heartburn just started to flare up, which means he's probably starting.

Looks like its:
Howard
DeMerit, Gooch, Boca, Spector
Dempsey, Bradley, Clark, Donovan
Davies and Altidore

Good to see Boca back in the starting lineup and glad Davies got the start again

lol don't worry, it's the same starting XI as the Egypt game except Boca for Bornstein at LB

I would have liked to see Dempsey up top with Jozy with Davies as a sub in the 2nd half and somebody like Torres or Feilhaber at RM. But I figured he'd go with the same lineup, which makes sense
