Francoeur has already raised his batting average 6 points and the Mets are 2-0 with him in the lineup. Yeah its early, but think about how long it has been since the last time the Mets won two games in a row.

Francoeur was demanded to be the star in Atlanta, but once the Mets are back to full strength and he's in a lineup with Wright, Beltran, and Delgado, I think we're going to see his true potential.

What's the injury status on Reyes, Beltran, and Delgado? When should we expect them back?

And what about Wagner and Putz? Once both are healthy we can send in a closer in the 7th

^^

Delgado is swinging against live pitching today and tomorrow in St. Lucie. If all goes well he'll be in rehab games starting next Weds/Thurs and probably back 3 weeks from now.

Reyes actually ran full speed and did full speed agility workouts before Sunday's game at Citi and showed no limp/pain apparently. Probably 2 weeks away with rehab included.

Beltran still hasn't resumed doing anything. I'd say 3-4 weeks with him, minimum.

Putz/Wagner are right on schedule. August 15 for both is my guess.

Citi Field was nice.

Had a great seat to watch the Mets get bitch slapped by the Dodgers. Everyone seemed to love Manny Ramirez. And it seemed like there were more Dodger fans than Mets fans there.

A lot of the older folks remained Dodgers fans after the 50s, and passed it on to their kids. My grandfather grew up in Brooklyn and he will cheer for the Dodgers until the day he dies.

^I assumed that was a big part of it.

I went to the game with my old co-worker and his brother and another friend of his. Only the friend was a Mets fan. The rest of us, came for the entertainment I guess

"Thu, Jul 16

GM Omar Minaya said in a Thursday press conference that Reyes had “a good day Thursday” in Port St. Lucie and is “showing much improvement” in his strained right hamstring.

Minaya added that out of Reyes, Carlos Beltran and Delgado, Reyes looks the most likely to return the earliest. Reyes took live batting practice off John Maine Thursday in Port St. Lucie, but has yet to run the bases. He has been limited to agility drills with some hard running in the outfield. No timetable has been set for Reyes to run full out or play a rehab game."

I am still kind of skeptical of when he will return since he hasn't run the bases yet. He HAS to be able to run the bases like Jose Reyes can run the bases for him to be activated. Its not like some power hitter's speed isn't at 100%. That is Reyes' greatest strength. Still, the news is better than it was a couple weeks ago.

Lol... are you seriously trolling about beating the Mets right now? They don't have literally half of their team and most of them are big contributors.

Lets go over the big pieces that are missing, shall we?

- Beltran, Delgado, Reyes, Sheffield, Putz, Wagner, Maine and Martinez.

This is such a lost year due to injuries it is not even funny. Just wasting one more year of Johan's and Beltran's prime and Reyes/Wright's affordability.

I literally just lol'd at the TV when Nieve was rolling around on the ground in pain last night and Saturday when Sheffield came up lame trying to make the throw. It's downright humorous at this point...

^ nice fact checking. Atleast 8 games back Braves are 6.5 starting today. Obviously the Phils control the division, but the if the Braves can continue to hit even just a little, their pitching will keep them in the wild card race. I would not put money on it personally, but one can hope.

Oh wow, sue me. I was 1.5 games off.

Let me ask you something...

Have the Braves ever come from behind in the division to make the playoffs in this decade?

ahahha... I can't tell if this is parody or not but I'd believe it:

http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2009/07/its_come_to_this_for_the_mets.html

Quote :
"It's come to this for manager Jerry Manuel: He’s toying with the idea of using pitcher Livan Hernandez not just as a pinch hitter, but as a corner infielder. (Hernandez apparently loves the idea, and even took grounders at third during their last homestand.) Here’s the most disconcerting thing about this: Assuming he’d be equally inept at either of these corner positions, we guess we see the logic in using him at first, as Daniel Murphy could be moved to the outfield. But last time we checked, the Mets already had a third-baseman. In fact, it’s one of the few positions they haven’t had to worry about all year. Which we suppose can only mean one thing: Manuel is preparing for the inevitable David Wright injury — the one that would be the final nail in the Mets’ coffin. So much for optimism."

To answer your Halladay questions, the Mets just reportedly turned down an offer for Halladay originating from the Blue Jays of Fernando Martinez, Jon Niese, Bobby Parnell and Ruben Tejeda...

Jon Heyman of cnnsi reported it on his twitter...

Ha ha Tony Bernazard. I used to have his 1987 Topps card when he was on the Indians. He was a "top prospect" or something.

The Mets are falling apart hard. Even if they did not have the slew of injuries this year, they'd still have one of the worst farm systems in baseball. Seriously nearly everyone of their minor league teams is straight up garbage.

^^ In defense of Franceour, stuff like that happens. He clearly lost the ball in the lights. He wasn't just "doing a Manny" out there. Plus Franceour is a solid defender even though he is a horrible hitter.

Well, in four days we'll either have hope after taking a series from COL and knowing Reyes will be back in 7-10 days or all hope will be lost losing the series and being buried for good from any playoff race...

Here is to hoping it is the former...

Showing some life despite the circus in the front office.

Big Pelf tomorrow is huge as a bridge to Johan, who will NOT lose a big game @ Citi Field... tomorrow is the biggest game of the year. If we can win that, we cut the lead to four games for all intents and purposes...

And Jose is on the way...
