Anyone having a problem with the banner area of GMail loading? None of the options at the top are available unless I switch it to "basic HTML" view.

thanks
3/22/2011 12:47:20 PM
Nope. Version 10.0.648.151 on Windows 7 working fine.

Check your AdBlock subscriptions, it may be a false positive with an element-hiding rule, possibly looking for anything with an ID of "banner"Also, consider switching to Adblock Plus, it's now just as good at blocking content and it works faster with lower up-front overhead.
3/23/2011 12:45:38 AM
^Adblock was it. Thanks for the advice.
3/23/2011 11:22:50 PM
What subscription(s) did you use? I block ads a-plenty and never got that problem...

so, when does the icon change for chrome?[Edited on March 25, 2011 at 1:21 AM. Reason : never liked that it looked like a pokemon ball]
3/25/2011 1:21:03 AM
It has changed for Chrome 11 Beta; oddly it has not changed for Chrome Canary yet...
3/25/2011 4:48:10 AM
yeah just saw it update. i figured it would ahppen sooner, given there was an update between the announcement and this last roll out.meh, whatev.

i would like it if chrome had an IE9 like interaction with the task bar. where you could pin individual tabs and shit. it'd be pretty friggen sweet to pin a gmail tab to the task bar and have an unread count on the icon.
3/25/2011 5:49:27 PM
There may be an extension for that; I know Opera has one for JumpLists called LikeIE9
3/25/2011 6:40:27 PM
good call... i looked into that. there's an extension that lets you bring up jump lists when you navigate to a site. nothing that brings the functionality to the taskbar itself.you can create a shortcut if you install the gmail app, puts a pretty little gmail icon pinned to the task bar, if you open a window it goes to the lower quality favicon. which, you can have display unread messages. it just looks like shit, and requires a popup-like (no navigational stuff/tabs) window to be open.Ultimately, I guess what I'm looking for would be the gmail app from chrome store to run in background and give an unread count on the task bar, even when chrome windows are closed (in addition to the HTML5 desktop notifications). i bet it would be doable... i think it would be something people would use, too.

gah every time I try to use Chrome for an extended period of time I just end up going back to FF. It's a POS. On my desktop half the time it crashes when I try opening it with 8+ tabs. Sure it might be due to flash but still. I have loading issues with scrolling, and my three finger gestures don't work on my MBP. Sticking with FF 4.[Edited on April 4, 2011 at 6:59 PM. Reason : s]
4/4/2011 6:58:57 PM
Weird, I very seldom see it crash on me... and ill roll with maybe 20 tabs max, but usually around 10
4/4/2011 9:13:43 PM
Yeah it's been happening on my home desktop on Windows 7, my work laptop on XP, and my Macbook Pro (as well as Win7 on parallels on my Macbook Pro haha). Maybe it's a particular site I go to, or maybe I'm just too badass for it but I keep wanting to like it and keep going back to FF.

Chrome is taking over our computers: http://www.conceivablytech.com/9599/products/chrome-remoting-is-live-its-a-pc-remote-control
10/15/2011 12:07:43 AM
anybody else irritated that Chrome is putting "Buy a Chromebook" ads on the new tab page? i hope this isn't a sign of the future
11/23/2011 6:17:46 PM
they haven't shown up on mine yet...
11/23/2011 10:15:57 PM
yes, that really annoyed me, too.
11/24/2011 3:41:00 AM
I saw itI'm surprised the prices have gone down so much, still not low enough to be competitive though
11/24/2011 6:05:30 AM
I use nothing but Chrome here at home and at work. I think its def better than IE and comparable to Firefox. I find it to be real quick. It does every so often crash, but that is rare.

Chrome for Android 4 is released. i'll be interested to see if it's a big leap forward in mobile browser tech
2/7/2012 12:56:00 PM
^i posted in the android thread. I love it already. I've got the ability to select open tabs from any chrome running device, phone, tablet, and desktop. Can pull phone tabs on my desktop, tablet tabs on my phone, or any combination there of. Haven't been able to test it the way I want to yet, but I'm looking forward to it.
2/7/2012 2:47:13 PM
Unfortunately (as someone posted in the Android thread) it will not support Flash.
2/8/2012 3:37:44 AM
Yeah, adobe stopped supporting mobile flash so there's really no point I guess. Google said chrome.will eventually become the stock android browser, as it matures. There's some little tweaks that need to be made, but its got great potential
2/8/2012 8:32:17 AM
not really surprising since mobile flash support is pretty much done.
2/8/2012 8:33:19 AM
Chrome 17 just went Stable, so the WebRequest API is stable, so now Adblock Plus for Google Chrome will work much better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xk8mm1Qmt-Y
2/8/2012 11:00:50 PM
might try to get that. 18 beta has been sucking since i got it. sometimes have to open firefox to get a page to load properly or a video to run
2/8/2012 11:02:04 PM
Hey guys, hopefully this is a starting point for my question. Didn't really want to create a separate thread.I'm trying to display a real-time schedule in kiosk mode on a 46" LED.Unfortunately, the particular scheduler is lacking in functionality because it requires a manual refresh when an event is added. I'm trying to set this up so that no interaction is necessary to start and continue the process.Auto reload extensions have not been successful as they all seem to require some user interaction. Same with using javascript in a bookmark. Can I somehow edit this to not prompt for a timeout and force it to go to the scheduler's url instead of setting location.href?javascript:timeout=prompt(“Set timeout [s]“);current=location.href;if(timeout>0)setTimeout(‘reload()’,1000*timeout);elselocation.replace(current);function reload(){setTimeout(‘reload()’,1000*timeout);fr4me=’<frameset cols=\’*\’>\n<frame src=\”+current+’\'/>’;fr4me+=’</frameset>’;with(document){write(fr4me);void(close())};}

nm, used autoit.
2/9/2012 2:25:55 PM
Anyone else notice some pictures don't show up with Chrome?
2/12/2012 6:18:11 AM
2/12/2012 3:15:22 PM
Running Chrome Beta on my Xoom tablet. Absolutely love it. It's a bit of a hog on my Nexus S 4G, really slows the phone down.
2/12/2012 3:17:12 PM
i keep going back and forth between loving chrome and being annoyed by ittoday's issue: it reacts strangely to some javascript that works just fine on every other browserevery day's issue: why do you keep asking me if it's okay to run the logmein app when i keep selected "yes, run every time"? what about this confuses you?i'll frequently go back to firefox and remember why i love it...and then it will hog/leak memory like a mofo and i'll realize it's not as zippy in general [Edited on February 12, 2012 at 5:51 PM. cool, dev tools has an option to override useragent now

I think the guy who posted this meant FF10 but still

2/13/2012 10:47:45 AM
so, anyone else's adblock plus pretty much not blocking anything right now? seemed to be working fine until a couple of days ago. now there are banners everywhere I go
2/15/2012 10:06:50 AM
update to chrome 18
2/15/2012 10:20:23 AM
wadda ya know - i was still back on 16. thanks, worked like a charm.
2/16/2012 10:23:52 AM
i didn't see a general firefox thread and i don't particularly care to make one...but chrome was just too annoying to keep using as my "main" browser...my solution to:
3/4/2012 12:57:31 PM
what did you find annoying about Chrome?Flash wonkyness is the only thing that occasionally bothers me (and only very occasionally). I was frustrated as shit with Firefox after the 20th website I went to that didn't render correctly. Not to mention, even compared to IE8, Firefox is slowwwww to render pages.
