Just so this doesn't get lost, I'll just repost.

'Heroes' duo get the ax
Alexander, Loeb fired in shakeup
from Variety:

Quote :
"Big shakeup on the staff of NBC's "Heroes" came down on Sunday with the axing of co-exec producers Jesse Alexander and Jeph Loeb.

Both scribe-producers had been with the show since its first season and were known to have led the day-to-day production operation under the direction of creator/exec producer Tim Kring.

"Heroes," produced by Universal Media Studios, has struggled in the ratings its third season. It's understood that Alexander and Loeb were let go because of Peacock execs' frustration with the creative direction of the show. The show is also said to have been grappling with hefty budget overruns this season, that are going well beyond its already sizable $4 million per-seg pricetag.

Reps for NBC and UMS declined comment."

Well this is bad news. Have they already shot the whole 3rd season already? It would suck to have the change up mid-season.

This show is pretty much already gone, guys...

The first season was great. It's really been downhill since.

Pretty much... they just lost direction after the first season, maybe the second wouldn't have been as bad if it hadn't been cut short, but I doubt it. Pretty sad, since it had potential. I am watching right now, and I am just meh about it.

what in the hell was that??

except for the ending...

i mean...ok. not all of it was terrible. learning more about arthur petrelli's death & why angela could do a 180 on her husband...ok that's good. elle and sylar scenes? bad. claire's mom and her brother? terribly bad. overall i'm not fond of the flashback episode at all.

i'm done

I finished tonight's episode and promptly removed the series from my DVR.

The last straw was having yet another episode where Hiro and Ando are pushed to the back. have those guys even had an episode's worth of screen time yet this season?

that was horrible

this season will be the last, if the show even makes it to the end of this season

All of that could have easily been revealed in a web comic

The only reason they did this is to pull on the nostalgia factor to make people remember how awesome season 1 was.

I was watching it with the wife last night, and she said, "oh yeah, I forgot Peter was a nurse"

I think that was posted in an article, but that's something that really bothered me. They have lost all sense of being real people with sudden abilities. Now they are all superheroes, with it being odd to find someone that doesn't have a power.

Such a shame, but I guess it's time to find a new show.

^ if that happens, or even if he just takes hiro's powers now petrelli is the only one who can travel in time, and he can heal himself, read/control minds, blow himself up and survive... show over right?

^^ I said the same thing, it was also nostalgic to tie in some of the story lines like in season 1, the poisoning/heart attack, Claires mom starting the fire that Claire saved that guy from, to name a few

Elimination of all time traveling abilities is an excellent way to help make this show worthwhile again. At least then they won't rehash the exact same plot every year. I like Hiro, but if he has to die to make this show get back on track, so be it! They can give Peter his power to use other people's power's he's met back, but just without anything he'd previously learned.

Time travel in shows like this always open up a billion plot holes.

so is it just me, or was that entire train sequence with claire's mom the worst acted/scripted scene ever? that flint guy is also the dumbest character ever, because only he would actually be ok with being imprisoned. that really annoyed me for some reason

It's not happening again, it's another flashback episode to the first eclipse (the intro to the show since day 1)

like every ep of heroes, this week's was fun to watch but quickly sucked once you thought about it.

this week's flashbacks especially disregarded the established timeline. we saw events that happened both in the pilot and in the 1st season flashback ep (that took 6 months before the pilot) happen intertwined as one narrative

Incredibly bad episode. The Elle + Sylar thing was pointless. "Oh lets try to drive the fact even further home that Sylar really is a nice guy!" And when we saw Sylar and Elle meet earlier, you really got no feeling that they had any sort of prior connection as was implied here.

The train thing also sucked. It drove me nuts how he let the flame girl go because she thought they killed her daughter. He gave no such leniency to Claire's dad.

The Petrelli thing wasn't terrible, but they really pushed for Mrs. Pettreli to be much nicer towards her children than she has been in the past. She had no trouble with putting her children into harm's way in season 1. She didn't so much as flinch when Nathan was shot, presumably dead ("Well, it had to happen"). And they kept having her playing favorites in a devious way. "You're my favorite, Peter." "You're my favorite Gabriel."

Blah.

i know i spoiled it, but this was my beef with the article i read and posted on the bottom of page 8. it made no sense to me that they would use Elle to go back and deal with Sylar as he was discovering his ability for that very reason.

Am I the only one who liked this week's episode? Kept me entertained.

I'm not quite sure what they are trying to do, but it seems like they are trying to start afresh with this whole second eclipse idea.

And can someone clarify....so now that Sylar can show empathy he can gain powers from people without having to kill them? So now he's just basically what Peter used to be?

And why does Hiro think he is 10 just cus Papa Petrelli had his hands on his dome? Is that just the extent of his memory that was erased or somethin?

I wonder how they're going to explain why Claire's the catalyst. Since season one, they've set her to be the keystone of everything, but they never really explained what was so special about her. Early on, it was the fact that if Sylar got her ability he'd be unstoppable, but now it's changing into something else.

Supposedly Kaito Nakamura hid the catalyst in a human host, rather than keeping a formula lying around. And remember, it was Kaito Nakamura that handed baby Claire to Noah Bennett in "Company Man."

I liked it except for:

1) Sylar acting like Dr. Phil, and
2) Once again, no Noah Bennett at all.

Quote :

He's very much like Peter and Papa Petrelli -- they all three have similar abilities. It seemed to me like Sylar still had to touch the subject, but I could be wrong.

Papa Petrelli was interrupted during the process (by Ando), so maybe he just didn't finish. Or maybe he didn't think it necessary to completely eliminate his memory or kill him.

So does Papa Petrelli have Hiros power? I know Hiro obviously still has it, but when Petrelli walked up behind (I think Sylar, maybe Knox or someone) he made the teleport noise.

And Andos "LEAVE MY FRIEND ALONE" looked like an attack from power rangers or something.

He did teleport, but he teleported first to Africa to attack Hiro. My understanding is that he got the ability from Peter. I'm curious about how he got the ability to wipe minds. Is that the another manifestation of Parkman's ability, or is this The Haitian's? Given the Haitian's ability to nullify others' powers is it even possible for his to be stolen? Also, where did he first get the ability to read minds/control others if Parkman and his dad were both living before all of this began?

Ok, that makes a lot more sense than having a reason for why Claire was naturally different from the other heroes.

Which side are Sylar and Elle playing for? Now, that he's good it would seem that his goal would be to undermine Arthur's group. Having been pushed away from the company, Elle might logically move to the other side, but like Sylar she's trying to come to terms with her powers and not seeing them as something monstrous.

I hate to say it but I am starting to get disappointed in this season too now. Cmon, make up your mind with the direction of the story and go with it. Stop jumping around all over the place and write up some decent dialog with a purpose. The show is starting to look like Lost now.
