You have to give him credit for not commenting on Edwards' affair.

No you don't, it makes no bearing on the race and would only paint him as a political opportunist. Its the same reason Obama hasn't said anything about the Ted Stevens indictment. Silence can be as politically calculated as making a statement. They will let the talking heads and pundits do the dirty work.[Edited on August 8, 2008 at 9:22 PM. Reason : .]

Right, but edwards is a MUCH bigger name than larry craig. The media not really going after him is very telling. imoOf course he is VERY smart to admit this during the olympics. I bet he waits until November to admit the kid is his.
8/8/2008 10:17:48 PM
Larry Craig?LARRY craig?oh... Larry CRAIG .... yes... i remember Larry Craig. the anti-gay, pro-marriage-bill-of-rights, focus on the family, Republican Congressman from Minnesota.the one who like to play footsies with men in airport toilet stalls as a prelude to having random anal sex with gay men in filthy airport bathrooms ... then get back on his way back to D.C. to pass more bills in favor of protecting heterosexual marriage and denying homosexuals any sort of basic civil rights.yeah. Larry Craig.because that is SO LIKE John Edwards having a brief, extramarital affair with a normal woman.
8/8/2008 10:19:02 PM
larry craig, larry craig, LARRY CRAIG x10Yes, larry craig who was running for president, former vice presidentail candidate. A man whose wife is dying and fathered a child with his mistress. Yeah, BIG non story there. You are right Joe, imagine this.. a hypocrit politician... from minn? WTF.. stop the press.JOE SCHmOE, Joe SCHome, JOE SCHMOE, defender of all things democrat.(Did the repeating the name add to the dramatic effect? Edwards, the vice presidential candidate during Sen. John Kerry's 2004 presidential bid, had been mentioned as a potential running mate for Sen. Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee this year, and as a possible attorney general or other high-ranking appointee if Obama wins the November election.I guess lying about things really doesnt matter too much in the democratic party. You democrats, I swear, if its not lying about your past and thinking people are too dumb to notice or find out, its then just about wealth redistribution.Joe, while you might not be a bible thumper, you certainly come across with a holier than thou, self-righteous attitude. Here is the good news though. If you ever have a bastard son, no one will care. However, a potential VP and possible attorney general lying to the public, not to mention being a sleezy lawyer, and cheating on his dying wife. Sounds like a story, but the paris hilton/mccain ads are much more juicy right?

Ok joe, Ill post this so then youll go away.On the CBS evening news last fall, good ole johnny, "Of course. I mean, for a lot of Americans, including the family that I grew up with, I mean, it's, it's fundamental to how you judge people and human character - whether you keep your word, whether you keep what is your ultimate word, which is that you love your spouse, and you'll stay with them."Here is the video hosshttp://www.cbsnews.com/sections/i_video/main500251.shtml?id=3633705nOh, and his reason? "All of which fed a self-focus, an egotism, a narcissism that leads you to believe that you can do whatever you want," Sounds like another democrat. If only the national enquirer will into him next.OH, yeah. I forgot to mention he is being considered for AG, VP, or a cabinet position. Moron, I do agree with you on the events. That is why I said he was very smart to quit lying about it now. LIke I said, he will wait until november to say the kid is his.[Edited on August 8, 2008 at 11:28 PM. Reason : .]

^^ to be honest, i'm not sure what you're trying to demonstrate there.
8/9/2008 2:35:36 PM
I'm demonstrating the fact that McCain either doesn't understand the Hamdan verdict or is willfully lying about its outcome. The court found him not guilty of providing missiles to al-Qaida. It found him not guilty of knowing that he was supporting terrorism. It found him not guilty of being a part of a conspiracy to the United States.
8/9/2008 3:43:19 PM
This is a totally unfamiliar pattern with McCain. Totally. This is like, the very first time he has either been grossly ignorant of or willfully distorted the core findings of a major judicial decision to suit his own political ends. Cue Socks`` to tell us this is "just another gaffe" in 5, 4, 3, 2....
8/9/2008 3:49:33 PM
haha wow this looks like a productive conversation. "McCain made a minor mistake in unprepared remarks, which Obama NEVER does, and now you must admit he is either an idiot or a LIAR!!!!" hahahha oh gosh. But spooky you forgot to say "What a Maverick!". You wouldn't want to lose your credibility. lol anyways kids, you'll excuse me if I sit this "important debtate" out. PS* Dr. Steve that's a very cute way to try and deflate my reaction. Doesn't make my statement any less true, but it's very cute. lol peace.
8/9/2008 4:53:49 PM
"minor mistake" for John McCain supporters apparently means complete misunderstanding of all the key facts.
8/9/2008 6:55:13 PM
^^^^ He was unclear on the details, but his conclusion, that the court did their job, was accurate. But, I guess his point was that this guy must have been very dangerous, where the ruling doesn't necessarily support that.^^ McCain has made a lot of "minor mistakes" this race: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWX5u69hmzY This doesn't contain the fumble where he was asked about his own position on bc/insurance, or where he was asked about being Kerry's VP.

^ Let's not be mistaken what this is about. This is not about McCain's cognitive abilities. This about his wife being a super-rich heiress. According to the same blog post, they own at least 4 homes in 3 states (Arizona, California, and Virginia). And who knows how many more they rent (he mentioned a condo). And I will almost garuntee you that McCain isn't paying the mortgages for those on a Senator's salary. What this is about is good old fashion class warfare and envy. It's a page straight of the Karl Rove handbook. It should come as no surprise by now that political tactics they used to abhor have become fair game now that they are close to actually winning an election. Politico makes this point.

^ Then you have not been paying attn. Obama was going negative on McCain since the primaries, when commentators were saying he was doing it to 1) show that he had moved beyond the primaries (since it was becomming clearer hillary would lose) and 2) to show that he could go on the attack against Republicans (back when everyone was afraid of another swift boat assault).Just because Obama wasn't running commercials doesn't mean he was consistently distorting McCain's positions (eventually even ABC News had to call him out on his lie willful misinterpretation about McCain saying we should stay at war in Iraq for 100 years). But, like I said, I am not surprised anymore. I've accepted that is what you have to do to win. I am still just pissed off that for the past 8 years Democrats presented themselves as being above this type of Rovian bullshit. But whatever. All that really matters is November. Didn't you hear Jesus is moving into the White House???? Surely he will forgive our minor political transgressions if it gets him elected.

Say what you want to socks and cry to the refs, but it's not the democratic response to this (which hasnt even happened yet by the way) that makes it newsworthy, it's just a little crazy that any person has so many houses they dont know how many they own.I frankly get tired of McCain bowing out of tons of questions like this with that lame cop out of 'he doesnt recollect'...sorry just because you are an old fart doesnt give you the free pass card on tough questions. I don't like it one bit, and I don't trust him because of it frankly.
8/21/2008 9:57:16 AM

8/21/2008 11:06:25 AM
Its really funny how Obama likes to walk around talking about "issues" and saying his campaign is different from the "politics of old" and how mccain has taken "the low road" with using attack ads. Then he runs an Ad talking about McCains 7 homes. The really sad thing is some nut on here will actually defend it and still say he isnt doing attack ads. That or use grammer school defense of "well your guy did this... so..."
8/21/2008 11:15:55 AM
^ Yah. It kinda surprises me, the lengths that his supporters will go to excuse his inconsistencies. Remember when he opted out of public financing? We had Richardson on TV saying he had created a new public financing system. Talk about Orwellian double talk. For me, the parallels between Obama and Bush only get more striking.
8/21/2008 11:23:20 AM
8/21/2008 11:44:11 AM
How do you even think that 'when does life begin' and 'how many houses do you own' are even remotely in the same category?Let me give you a clue: One is generally supposed to be common knowledge to an individual and the other has been a subject of debate for several decades at least.
8/21/2008 11:46:15 AM
Kainen, Like I said, Obama went negative before McCain. And you're hardly the one to be giving lectures to anyone about how they should "focus on policy more often". I have created maybe 3 different threads on Obama and McCain and their policies (that doesn't include the numerous posts in other threads on their policies). But no one wanted to play along, so now I'm just chatting on whatever comes my way. If you ever want to have a policy discussion, try starting one. [Edited on August 21, 2008 at 11:54 AM.
