kind of saw this coming, but Moylan didn't get a good report after seeing Dr. James Andrews. The Devine and Yates trades are looking worse as time goes on. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3352558

The seriousness of the Moylan injury is not surprising. The Braves bullpen is cursed. Imagine if Gonzalez came back 100% and Soriano pitched like he did in the 1st half last year. Mix that with Moylan's sub-2 ERA and the Braves were setup extremely well. Too bad we have zero of those guys now and are using spring training "barely make the team" garbage to close out games.

So the peachtree games are reportedly being simulcasted on channel 591 in Greensboro. However, its not working for me. Anyone know anything about this?

Tonight Chipper is 3-5 with 2 more homeruns and 4 rbi. He is batting .455 on the year.[Edited on April 18, 2008 at 10:36 PM. Reason : .]

holy fuck glavine is on the DL...
4/18/2008 11:03:28 PM
^^ maybe he'll get in the all star game around the 7th or 8th inning...^ yeah, that is pretty shocking. I actually thought he would hurt the Braves pen with his 5 and 6 inning performances over the longrun, but never thought he'd be injured. Despite him leaving a sour taste in every Mets fans mouth, I liked and respected the guy...[Edited on April 18, 2008 at 11:10 PM. Reason : x]
4/18/2008 11:10:12 PM
Well you kinda gotta respect him like you respect any other 300 game winner.I didn't think he was washed up at all. Given our pen was supposed to be stacked, I thought his 5 or 6 innings would be pretty alright. But damn Glavine...This is seriously some NC State shit.

4/19/2008 5:15:56 AM
^ The second game of the season went 12 innings, we used eight relievers; I'd say with only 15 or 16 games played, that skews the stat a bit.
4/19/2008 12:29:42 PM
Ok, that blimp shadow was feaky.
4/19/2008 4:46:29 PM
of course that fat fuck has to get his first homer against the braves. at least chuck is looking halfway competent this game
4/19/2008 5:11:14 PM
hey guys, dont forget to vote for david wright for the all star game. we need to get the best lineup possible out there to win home field. nl fans need to stick together...5 inning Chuck... are you guys going to have ANY arms in your pen come August?[Edited on April 19, 2008 at 5:16 PM. Reason : x]

well chipper got hurt today, surprise surprise...
4/20/2008 4:52:03 PM
It's the same quadriceps injury that's been bothering him all season. He might miss a few games, I doubt he'll go to the DL though. Also, this is the first time in Glavine's career that's been on the DL. Great timing!
4/20/2008 5:05:05 PM
what is that? 4 in a row? Teixiera comin alive, Kotsay keepin it up.. I haven't actually seen a game in a while, but looks good to me... Even if Chipper is hurt, its the Nats and Marlins..should be able to take about 3 of these with him just maybe gettin some pinch hits. Or is the injury worse than that?
4/20/2008 8:22:42 PM
The Braves need to keep this hot streak going because they are in the middle of an "easy" stretch of the schedule and are still only 9-9. The Mets have been playing much better competition and eventually we'll be playing the hard schedule while they get shit teams like the Nats, Pirates, and Dodgers (yes the Dodgers suck).Anyway hope Chipper can play because we need every run we can get. What is the Braves run differential this year? It has to be pretty damn good despite the lame 9-9 start.
4/21/2008 3:28:19 PM
+31, we're three games under our Pythagorean expectation, which I guess could be a promising stat, or an omen of a 2007 redux. We finished 5 games below our PE last year and were 2nd in the league in runs scored and 6th in runs allowed. [Edited on April 21, 2008 at 3:33 PM. Reason : ]

4/21/2008 8:16:52 PM
^yea. Taking two out of two from the Mets. I wish we could play good teams.

I'm not watching the game, but I assume it's Sutton since we're playing the Natspos.I HATE DON SUTTON
4/21/2008 8:22:53 PM
its simpson
4/21/2008 8:31:03 PM
Simpson still does games on SportSouth, Sutton jumped to MASN last year.
4/21/2008 8:33:16 PM
Simpson is still the Braves announcer on Fox Sports net, or whatever they call it. [vent]I HATE how Braves/Nationals games aren't on MLB Extra Innings. I get all the other ones, but still!! [/vent]
4/21/2008 8:41:09 PM
Its Don Sutton

4/21/2008 8:55:38 PM

4/21/2008 9:05:12 PM

4/21/2008 10:02:00 PM
How about a Smoltz, Hudson, Jurrjens 3-man rotation? And an all Chipper/Escobar lineup?
4/21/2008 10:18:43 PM
i could go for just a smoltz chipper lineup
4/21/2008 10:35:28 PM
hmmm, I might have to go to the game tomorrow to see Smoltz's 3000K
4/21/2008 10:37:22 PM
Man, I had forgotten he was that close, only four to go. It's amazing that he'll get there after spending four years in the pen. It's also amazing that Glavine is still 400+ away. Also, I didn't realize that Smoltz finished third in the league in strikeouts the past two years.Interesting 3000 K fact: Cesar Geronimo, the center fielder on the Big Red Machine teams was the 3000th strikeout for both Bob Gibson and Nolan Ryan.
