anybody who doesnt think jake is having a great season just doesnt know football, plain and simple
9/25/2007 12:02:26 PM
Delhomme hasn't blown a game...to me that's a great season for him. When we were great teams he was a good game manager, didn't make great plays, but didn't blow it either. I think that's key for him and we'll be successful...pending our DLine steps up the play[Edited on September 25, 2007 at 12:14 PM. Reason : .]
9/25/2007 12:13:44 PM
8 TDs and 1 INT is fineour defense definitely needs more work
9/25/2007 12:15:12 PM
Something just doesn't seem right with Peppers...They were commenting on it during the game Sunday but I've thought that since week 1. He seems tired or just not into it...He was getting blocked and would just stop pushing.

9/25/2007 12:32:35 PM
well all you've suggested was that Brady is a better QB than Delhommebreaking news flash right there
9/25/2007 12:49:35 PM
I think the offense is the least of our worries right now. It's the fucking defense and special team, usually our strong areas, that are fucking up.
9/25/2007 12:54:28 PM
^^ Yep, that's obviously all I know about football. I've never seen Jake Delhomme blow a game in his life, and of course I don't know nearly enough to be able to evaluate him based on his own merit. Look at his ratings in the past four seasons: they're in the 80-90 range, not the ~110 we've seen in the last few games here. Is it really so unreasonable to think that he may, at some point in the season, play like we've seen him play before? It doesn't matter that much since we still managed to get to the Superbowl in that period, but we relied really heavily on our defense. Right now, our defense needs some work, and Delhomme's possible turnovers could easily lose us games. So excuse me for having some reservations about the guy. I will never have been happier to be wrong about anything in my life if he keeps it up. Maybe it wouldn't bother me as much if our defense got their act together.
9/25/2007 1:00:25 PM
everybody knows Delhomme isnt Brady or Manning...so what are you suggesting? you're just saying you're still not completely sold on Jake...thats fine...also you will never ever be completely sold on him unless he wins a Superbowl...he is a top 5 QB in the NFL right now strictly based on the first 3 weeks of the season and those stats...but those arent good enough!
9/25/2007 1:17:45 PM
The first three games of a season are supposed to tell me something about how his stats are going to look at the end of December? Come on now, be reasonable. I didn't say he couldn't be good: he is right now, that's true. Whether he'll continue to be is another matter completely. I never said I wouldn't be sold on him unless he wins a Superbowl. If he can somehow manage to keep up what he's been doing recently during the whole season, I'll be happy with him.Stop trying to argue with me, you're getting nowhere.
9/25/2007 1:44:38 PM
Peppers and Jenkins are playing like they are suddenly 5 years older. Our LBs have been very disappointing, and our secondary isn't good enough to shut down NFL corners/receivers without more out of the guys up front.I see the Panthers front seven of the early 2000s this year...they have moved to Houston.
9/25/2007 2:10:48 PM
more than just our defense as a whole, I'm really disappointed in Julius Peppers. All I saw from him last week was weak play and a batted down pass. Where is the Peppers we all know? Where is the guy that chased Vick down from behind? Where is that dominant presence that he used to bring?[Edited on September 25, 2007 at 2:14 PM. Reason : ^Jenkins has been decent at least]
9/25/2007 2:12:14 PM
Jenkins has been somewhat effective, but he does look slower. And Dan Morgan has been completely ineffective.
9/25/2007 2:29:51 PM
I had zero hopes for Dan Morgan. He's injury prone and you really can't count on him. We'll be drafting LB's for a few more years, unless we sign someone good,
9/25/2007 2:35:26 PM
I know it was just the Falcons, but it does feel good to get a win without Steve Smith having to have 8 receptions for 160 yds and 3 TDz

still though...what has Spoon done in St. Louis? Been a part of one of the worst run defenses in the league the past 2 years? Spoon was a great player to have....playing OLB with Morgan in the middle...I think the last 20 Rams games have made it very clear that Spoon was not in fact worth the money he was asking for]
9/27/2007 11:04:41 AM
^yep, I was gonna say that, not worth 6 years- 36 millions.

It's odd, because before the year began many people looked at last season and thought that Carr might get the nod over Delhomme for the starting spot. But, looking at this season, I find myself much more worried about the Bucs game with Carr up for the start instead of Delhomme.Either way, though, I agree that the defense HAS to do something if we're going to beat Tampa. ZERO interceptions in the first three games??? That's fucking pathetic, especially for corners that are supposed to be as good as Lucas and Gamble are supposed to be.
9/27/2007 4:10:45 PM
I'm way more concerned about the lack of sacks for a D-line that's one of the best of the league.
9/27/2007 4:14:11 PM
Yeah I'm not so much worried about Carr as I am about our defense, but I'm hoping Jenkins' "speech" will get them fired up...Carr is serviceable...I certainly feel a lot more comfortable with him starting than Chris "1-17 Record As A Starter" Weinke...we need our O-Line to do a good job for him and the running game, and for somebody who is not #89 to catch a few passes...but our defense is key

if they don't stop the short/mid over the middle pass it's going to be a long day.Who woulda thought this game would be as big as it is.
9/27/2007 4:21:39 PM
^yeah I'm hoping old 83 will step up since he seemed to like Carr coming into the game last week^^lol i forgot about the falcons game since Deangelo Williams got more snaps than Weinke

I hope at about 7pm on Sunday night J_Hova is really pissedI hope what he's pissed at are the following:- Jeff Garcia now suffers from a busted spleen- Kris Jenkins blocks 3 kicks- Matt Bryant gets injured celebrating the one kick he does make- Cadillac leaves his doors open and has 3 fumbles- The Bucs drop to 2-2 and 2nd place in the division

BIG GAME THIS WEEKEND, IM HYPED
9/27/2007 5:57:13 PM
this really is a big game...its hard to say "must win" in only week 4, but it damn near is...this game might not determine the division, but worst case the winning team will be 3-1 while the other three teams are AT BEST 2-2, 1-3 and 1-3
9/27/2007 6:33:50 PM
I think the problem with our d-line is it's too good (or at least that's the prevailing opinion around the league, and more importantly, our coaches as well). If our line was average, we would be running stunts, blitzing LBs and safeties and doing everything we could to get pressure on the QB and mix things up. But because everyone thinks our d-line is godlike, we just leave them alone to do their own thing every single play. The result? the same 4 guys rushing from the same 4 positions using the same moves on every drive and getting tired since they have no support and are facing max protection constantly, and by the second half, even a high school team can figure out how to beat a pass rush like that (see: our recent history of second half collapses). We have the talent to get the job done, but the coaches would definitely be well served to watch some game film of the Patriots defense in action and take some notes. They keep an offense off balance like no other.
9/27/2007 6:47:48 PM
i dont exactly agree that we're too good...i think we've been living off reputation and name the past couple years based on when we HAD to have great defense a few years back when that was winning us games...I do agree however that we trust the front 4 too much to get pressure...we do need to vary things up a bitbtw...bakubits? more like biakabatukabits! lol
9/27/2007 6:49:41 PM
David Carr looks fucking weird now
9/28/2007 6:35:11 PM
Things don't sound good for Delhomme, FOX keeps saying he's gonna need surgery.
