repost to keep it on this page

has anyone heard the stuff about nicholson's reaction

Quote :
"I warned him"

there is a lot of speculation about playing the joker and how it wore on nicholson and ledger mentally and drove them into depression.

^hints at it too.

Quote :
"Perhaps the strangest celebrity reaction has come from Jack Nicholson. When photographers broke the news of Ledger's death to the veteran actor -- who also played The Joker -- in London last night, Nicholson simply said, "I warned him." "

saddest thing is, is we will probably never gain any insight on just what he was experiencing other than a few sound bites, quips from those we've already read. Sounded like he was a bit of a loner these last several months

It sounded to me that the role of Joker really got to him. According to an article on yahoo:

Quote :
"Ledger said in an interview in November that "Dark Knight" and last year's "I'm Not There," took a heavy toll. He said he "stressed out a little too much" during the Dylan film, and had trouble sleeping while portraying the Joker, whom he called a "psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy.""

I must have missed something but what happened to Katie holmes reprising her role in the last one? (not that I'm complaining)

she sucked, I'm pretty sure Nolan saw that. I believe she also had a prior obligation, so they (wisely) cast Maggie Gyllenhaal.

On a side note, this is the first time I have seen the subject brought up since Ledger's death.

When I first heard he died, one of my first thoughts was that Nolan will probably not make a third Batman movie, because I didn't think it would be his style to continue the series without Ledger. This is all depending on if the Joker lives in TDK. Now, in all the treatments I've read ....

***POSSIBLE SPOILER****

Joker is committed to Arkham at the end of TDK.

***END POSSIBLE SPOILER***

If Nolan was so willing to replace Holmes' with Gyllenhaal as Rachel Dawes rather than write her out of the script, would he do the same with Ledger? I really don't think the Joker will be in anymore Nolan Batman movies -- if there will even be anymore. I have faith the character will somehow be written out of a third script if he lives through TDK and the series ends there. Maybe the third will be a Harley/Two-Face film ... I don't know ...

Thoughts?

Never has a film series been more retconned than Batman...they'll write him out of 3+ and move on.

doesn't seem like an oscar worthy role (not that he is a bad actor), though it would be cool.

From IMDB

***Possible "spoiler"????

Quote :
"Morris reveals Ledger's death will present problems for Batman producers - because the actor had already signed on to reprise his role as The Joker in the follow-up to this summer's The Dark Knight. He adds, "I guess they can easily re-write it or re-cast. But yes, it's true, Heath was supposed to return in the next Batman movie.""

"I look forward to viewing Heath’s final screen performance in “The Dark Knight” – I hear he’s wonderful (and though Heath’s character, The Joker, is supposed to return in the third chapter – it was only to be a cameo, so any easy fix, I imagine) and his performance will undoubtedly go down in history – just like the man himself. Rest in Peace my friend."

I guess Nolan is all about the cameos to tie the movies together. Supposedly Crane will have a cameo in TDK.

Sounds like you have your answer. What they'll do is convince you that his performance in the movie is so good that it started to affect his personal life.

^^ Thats part of what pissed my off about the last set of batman movies; in every one he had a new girl and a new villain. It's not a goddamn James Bond movie.

Although I guess Alfred is rather Q-like.

I think if they tried to do a villain more than once as the main villain, people wouldn't want to see it because they think its the same movie.

No robin. The fact that Batman is alone (for the most part) in his fight is one of best parts

i wonder if the riddler will ever show up in this series

unwise. They could have cast someone younger. I hate when they replace people to play the same character. I hated it when Kilmer took over as the bat, although I actually ended up liking it in the end, but I hated it more when it was Clooney as he sucked ass as batman.

"Charisma as natural as gravity"
A beautifully written tribute by Christopher Nolan to Heath Ledger. It's short and to the point. Well worth the read. Appearing in Newsweek. A very classy thing to do...

I love how Nolan got all pissed off and immediately started worrying about how lunatic bat fringe fans like us would react to a grungy skateboarding joker He gets the importance of the franchise and so did Heath.

Anybody found a sneak peak at the new trailer with Harvey Dent in it? His site has changed and viral is starting up there but rumor has it that the new DK trailer was attached to 10,000 BC. Can anybody confirm this or find a version of it that has popped up on the web? I've looked and looked for it but to no avail. His is the updated version of the Harvey Dent site though.

Damn dude. Sorry to hear that. I know it was disappointing for you. Can't lie, I was contemplating doing the same thing but now my hope is that it was only at select theaters and that someone is gonna have the thing up online or that WB will officially post it if there really is a new one.
