I walked in and picked mine up on launch day.
7/6/2007 10:52:55 AM
yea after the initial line went down there really wasn't shit as far as a line.. tons of ppl piled around the display table but i just walked right up and got one, in and out in less than 3 mins
7/6/2007 10:59:43 AM
just activated mine! can't wait to start playing
7/6/2007 6:43:42 PM
i hope they fix the few flaws in the next generation of them, battery access, sim card access, and network issues (3G and such), other than that everything is pretty damn nice about it
7/6/2007 11:50:52 PM
a few issues. itunes seems to get stuck when syncing my photos. the program doesn't crash it just sits stuck on 'syncing iphone' another thing...whats with the ring tones???
7/7/2007 11:33:32 AM
Steve Jobs fired someone for playing an annoying ringtone in a meeting
7/7/2007 11:56:12 AM
i dont blame him. i fucking hate ringtones
7/7/2007 12:07:45 PM
i agree with ^

7/7/2007 5:27:41 PM
isn't it the case that you have to use the packaged sim card and can't transfer from a previous phone?
7/7/2007 5:32:19 PM
yeah basically.. its a pain moving your contacts over but at least you can do it through Outlook instead of typing them in one at a time on the phone...
7/7/2007 7:23:22 PM
i finally made it over to the apple store to play with one today (one of the ~15 fully functioning ones including phone and wifi they had on display). Like all the reviews say, it really is smaller than you imagine..... just tiny, really, but somehow the screen seems huge. they keyboard really worked just fine for me, even in portrait mode. I fired up Mail and wrote a couple paragraphs right off the bat using two-thumb typing with no trouble. I think the key was being gentle with the thumbs - not mashing down on the screen for every stroke. You really barely have to touch the screen to register the tap. I've never actually used a Blackberry or Treo or any smartphone with a full keyboard before, so I have nothing to compare it to. People that currently use those kinds of keyboards are probably used to using a certain amount of force on the keys and receiving a good bit of tactile feedback, but I have no prior experiences with that kind of keyboard, so I think i was able to using a very light touch and trusting what I saw on the screen, instead of what my fingers felt (or didn't feel).everything else worked as advertised, as far as I could tell. the UI and animations are really sleek and smooth, and just as responsive and snappy as they're shown in the ads. On one demo unit I used (but not on a 2nd one), the Maps application kept crashing on me (just spitting me back to the Home screen) when I was zooming and moving around too much in Satellite view. Hopefully it was just a snag in that particular phone, with too much public usage or something. I made a couple calls, and from what I could tell, it sounded great.

7/9/2007 7:21:08 PM
oh, that sucks. guess they'll start pushing out some software updates to fix stuff like that
7/9/2007 8:00:00 PM
I'm sure I could do all sorts of research to find the answer to this, but can I just copy a divx file to the iphone and have it play, or do I have to import/convert it in iTunes in order for it to work?
7/9/2007 9:22:03 PM
i don't know the answer to that, but i'd be very surprised if you didn't have to convert it
7/9/2007 9:25:20 PM
my bet is on using itunes
7/9/2007 9:25:46 PM
one complaint. You cant sync photos with _ (underscore) in the name
7/9/2007 9:49:31 PM
well that's just a dealbreaker then
7/9/2007 9:52:58 PM
didnt know that..any idea why?
7/9/2007 10:41:47 PM
don't you just tell it which iPhoto albums to sync? (on a mac, i guess). are you saying that if yopu tell it to synch a folder/album that contains pictures with _ in the title, it will just skip over those photos?
7/9/2007 10:47:09 PM
^exactly. I tried many different things to see why some photos synced and others didnt. I compared them in photoshop side by side. all the settings were the same. (RGB - 8bit - 72 dpi). Then i thought it was a file size issue so i sized all the pics down to <100kb. that didn't work....so i compared file names and took a stab in the dark and removed the '_' from the name and it worked.Haven't tried syncing using iPhoto or Photoshop elements...just using iTunes and selecting the folders i want synced.
7/10/2007 1:54:08 AM
Not real sure about the iPhone, but I know with the video iPod, you have to convert the video into quicktime format with the correct resolution.

haha, i forgot about that guy
7/10/2007 8:55:23 PM
7/10/2007 9:07:57 PM
to encourage you to buy the video files from their services such as itunes etc
7/10/2007 9:11:58 PM
well it was kind of a rhetorical question.
7/10/2007 9:19:20 PM
itunes thread was dead so...i just noticed iTunes Plus...DRM free music (1.29 a song) plus you can upgrade previously purchased music for 30cents....finally! although its expensive but it is the right idea at least.
7/10/2007 11:02:32 PM
where have you been? that happened over a month ago
7/10/2007 11:12:45 PM
where have you been? Golovko's all about reposting month old Apple related news and pretending like it's new.
7/10/2007 11:33:21 PM

iPhone nano later this yearhttp://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,288805,00.html
7/11/2007 8:31:37 AM
That was a prediction made by J.P. Morgan, based mostly on a patent application from last month that looked somewhat like a cross between a Nano and a phone. Apple has hundreds of patents that it doesn't use or plan to use, though. JP Morgan has already retracted that statement. http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7007873682http://macdailynews.com/index.php/weblog/comments/14223/http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/07/11/apple_iphone_nano_report_rubbish/

if they were to make a nano phone, which would kinda suck IMO cause the screen would be too small....what capacity would it be? the iphone is already at 4 and 8gb so the nano would be what? 32mb? lol
7/11/2007 11:39:18 AM
Did you even bother reading any of those articles? They have no plans to make an iphone nano. I mean at some point I'd imagine putting the electronics for the phone portion would be so cheap they would be crazy not to. But at that point you won't have an iphone nano, you'll have an ipod nano with phone capabilities. you know...like all those articles said.
7/11/2007 1:26:13 PM
And you didn't bother to answer his question.
7/11/2007 2:05:57 PM
48mb ?
7/11/2007 2:13:07 PM
^^The stupididy of the question combined with the 12 year oldish lol at the end of it gave me no indication that he was being serious in the slightest. not to mention that the size of the nano is already set at 2,4,and 8 GB, so why would anyone think they would be any less? I'd imagine the next gen of nanos, phone included or not, would be 4, 8, and 16GB.
7/11/2007 2:20:46 PM
There are quite a few reasons why a cheaper iPhoneNano with the same capacity as the iPhone won't be available this year.
7/11/2007 2:32:22 PM
^^you do know the ipod is up to 80gb now but that did not stop them from making an 8gb iphone. I doubt very much a iphone nano will be realesed with the same capacity.
7/11/2007 3:02:57 PM
it has to do with the price points of manufacturing flash memory and compact hard drives more so than anything else, they just don't come up with these numbers out of thin air, there's a reason why they went with flash in the iphone instead of a compact hdd.[Edited on July 11, 2007 at 3:16 PM. Reason : .]
7/11/2007 3:15:33 PM
you're right. I'm sure they'll probably release one with 32mb. lol you're still thinking iphone nano. There most likely won't be an iphone nano, Sure it may be called an iphone nano for marketing purposes, but it will be first and foremost an ipod nano with phone capabilities. And it will have at minimum 4 and 8 GB. Anything less would just be stupid. Not when you can get 4GB flash cards for $20 these days.]
7/11/2007 3:15:41 PM
i meant there's a price/performance point in which it's cost effective enough to where they can provide some of the best storage capacities in the market and still make a profit and still be competitive... 32mb is hardly competitive in today's marketmost likely the nano and iphone use the same exact storage media, and the iphone is already as small as it should/could get, i don't forsee why anyone would even want one smaller99% of the draw of the iphone is the screen, why on earth would they make it smaller, it would be unusable for pictures, or videos, or games and make typing impossiblei HIGHLY doubt there will be an iphone nano[Edited on July 11, 2007 at 3:22 PM. Reason : .]
7/11/2007 3:18:43 PM
I was commenting on the retardation that spewed from Golovko, not at anything you said. Of COURSE no one would want anything smaller than 4GB. even that is a laughably small storage size these days. It's absolutely INSANE to think they'd ever go smaller than that. ]
