^^ The talent is incredible on some of those top teams in FL; the game you were watching wasn't even in the highest class, either.

12/9/2006 9:54:15 PM
haha probably
12/9/2006 10:08:05 PM
Had it been Indy-Garner, and not so stinking cold outside, Wallace-Wade would probably be nearly full.
12/9/2006 10:33:05 PM
oh well, Indy gets another. I wonder if/when Indy will lose it's reign as the most dominate team in NC.
12/9/2006 10:43:11 PM
Probably not next year, as the Patriots were a young (and relatively vulnerable) team this year, but will be deep and experienced in 2007.The two big surprises of the day IMHO are Elkin beating Manteo so easily and Southern Vance playing Shelby as close as they did.
12/9/2006 10:55:36 PM
^I tried to tell you that Southern Vance is a good team. If they had a better kicking game they could have won this game.
12/9/2006 11:45:51 PM
Anybody who can put 24 on the board against Shelby's first string is certainly a very good team. Tell me this ... what happened mid season for them to get it together? Early in the year, they appeared mediocre, losing to an average Webb team, barely wining against a rival having a bad year, and getting routed by SWE?It sounds like a great showing yesterday, and certainly nothing to hang their heads about.
12/10/2006 12:04:53 PM
Southern pretty much changed their offensive philosophy. They went from running out of the I to running out of the shotgun and spreading the field. This allowed their QB more room to work in creating the big play. Defense has been pretty strong for Southern all year long. You could also see these guys develop more of a swagger on the field. They were much more confident as the season went on.
12/10/2006 4:59:38 PM
western alamance was down 21 going into the 4th quarter...they scored 3 straight touchdowns, recovered a fumble, and missed a 34 yard field goal for the win...then lost in overtime
12/10/2006 6:34:35 PM
manteo's play calling was very nc state-like. run run run run run run run pass run run run run. and on 3rd and long, run. the elkin corners were playing 15 yards back at times and manteo still wouldn't try any kind of pass.
12/10/2006 7:14:58 PM
Well, Shelby's QB/S got knocked out of the game for a while, and had stitches put in on the sideline. That changed the momentum in the game. The backup QB fumbled 3 times, and the team had 5 turnovers. Once he came back, Shelby came back to life.

Hoggard coach Scott Braswell was awared the PANTHERS head coach of the year. They will be donating 3,000 dollars to hoggards athletic club for the 2007 season. He got all kinds of things...too bad I was still outside being dumb outside the fox pre game and not inside.
12/11/2006 9:56:43 PM
yeah i went to the western allamance game. It was awesome to watch that 4th quarter. But their band played the star wars theme song at least 50 times.
12/11/2006 11:40:12 PM
Clinton vs Shelby for the 2A title today. Anyone else's home town representing this weekend? (Some games were last night.
12/13/2014 8:18:02 AM
I went to East Lincoln. They play today at 4.It's amazing how much an impact a good coach can make at the h.s. level. When I was coming through, we had a little talent but a mediocre coach. Now the school has the same level of talent with an offensive guru as head coach.[Edited on December 13, 2014 at 9:24 AM. Reason : zxcv]

southern durham, choked against a team they'd beaten to death earlier in the season :x so we're out
12/13/2014 10:16:20 AM
Well my school lost to the best recruit in my opinion we haven't gotten yet, and he torched us so!!!!!
12/13/2014 8:24:23 PM
^^^ I too went to East Lincoln (actually coach 2 sports there now). When were you there? Great game today, awesome to see them win their 2nd in 3 years. But that, plus the 2012 title game were the 2 of the 3 best games I've ever attended.
