i seriously think i missed my calling as a sports columnist or analyst

while i am heartbroken, there is some good to come from this, we got a goalie that can stop pucks and an offense that can score. i don't think its all over yet. Gerber having that virus really has taken him off his game as i would expect, he lost 12 lbs in a week and a half. Whitney will be getting more PT now that he is healing. Now if staal will backcheck and we move Cullen off the point we might be competitive
4/24/2006 11:57:39 PM
YOU PEOPLE DONT FUCKING GET IT YOUR DEFENSE IS HORRENDOUSTHAT IS THE FUCKING PROBLEM, NOT YOUR GOALIE, NOT YOUR SCORING DROUGHTS FROM TIME TO TIMEYOUR FUCKING DEFENSE
4/25/2006 12:00:04 AM
doesnt matter how good....they are taking a 2-0 lead back to canada. even splitting up there difficult.^and no shit. i said that right at the point the trades were made. [Edited on April 25, 2006 at 12:01 AM. Reason : 039i]

I was stating positives, hence the lack of discussion of defense
4/25/2006 12:02:26 AM
ive been saying that shit all fucking yearand your fellow canes fans dont get itit is annoying as fuck to hear the same morons complain about the goalie and certain forwards^ i wasnt calling you out, it was more of a 'in general' thing[Edited on April 25, 2006 at 12:03 AM. Reason : .]
4/25/2006 12:03:20 AM
except the last goal and a breakaway i thought our defense was pretty good
4/25/2006 12:04:12 AM
^^maybe we all 'get it' we're just trying to be positive and not a anoying nay-sayer
4/25/2006 12:05:17 AM
the scoring droughts don't bother me as much as the failing to clear the zone droughts, dumb penalties that lead to a goal, failing to hold the zone and general lack of cohesion between defenders. I did think Aaron Ward played a good game and Wesley was decent
4/25/2006 12:08:02 AM
aaron ward is my favorite cane, he and justin williams[Edited on April 25, 2006 at 12:09 AM. Reason : .]

dont worry they made the playoffs and thats good enough.....right?

Willie showed alot of toughness tonight after that facial encouter with the post, it didn't seem to slow him down at all, props to Brind'Amour for a hell of a game and for leading by example. Also, Ladd had a hell of a first playoff game, he really threw his body around and made some noise, I can't wait to see him progress, he'll fit Lavi's system like a glove
4/25/2006 12:12:43 AM
Aside from his typical dumb penalty, Commodore also played much better from a puck/space denial standpoint.
4/25/2006 12:13:05 AM
i have much fewer negative things to say with Big Joe and Mr. T out of the lineup
4/25/2006 12:16:08 AM
Blast you Jack Johnson for staying with Michigan
4/25/2006 12:19:34 AM
Although the defense has been sucking it up, I do believe Gerber had been letting in easy shots on goal. There is little other explaination for the ease some of the point blank shots got behind him. I'm disappointed, cause I thought he'd be strong, especially tonight. Man, hell of a game... I sat in my seat in shock... just...unphased by the OT goal...to add insult to injury, it tookme nearly 30 minutes to leave the parking lot
4/25/2006 12:23:11 AM
no gerber didn't stand on his head but he was left to dry once or twice, bandit and I were discussing if gerbs hadn't of thrown his stick would he of been left in?
4/25/2006 12:25:58 AM
gerber = no right nowwe need cole and vassy playing.....outside of that....i remain positive
4/25/2006 12:27:56 AM
vassy?
4/25/2006 12:28:23 AM
If by Vassy you are referring to Vasicek, then no, we sure as hell don't need him playing. Hell, I like the guy, but aside from his first game back where he racked up points against the Caps, he has been a liability. Ladd replaced him, and did a FANTASTIC job. Kudos to him for a great effort in his first playoff game.
4/25/2006 12:30:31 AM
maybe we would could win the series if it was reset, and we started with ward. the problem is the 2-0 lead, they are gonna try and run with it for a sweep
4/25/2006 12:32:39 AM
Five goals, folks. Offense is not the problem.Ladd hit more people tonight than Vasicek has hit in two seasons.
4/25/2006 12:33:02 AM
In response to the Gerber issue, let's just say that he let in NINE F#*#ing goals off of I believe 33 shots. That's under .750. One goal scored tonight was from the blue line that should have had no chance. If Ward played the whole game, this game would've been Carolina's by two or three.
4/25/2006 12:33:36 AM
then it should be a 6 game series then? We'll see if the defense plays well enough infront of Ward
4/25/2006 12:37:00 AM
in the first period he was probably like .800 -- 3 goals for 20 shots or something
4/25/2006 12:37:05 AM
I was glad I was able to go to the game...(got free tickets, whoo!)By far the best game I've ever went to. I was up there in 312, all the way at the top (I saw Vulcan swinging his cowbell too). Canes showed a lot of heart to come back like they did. It was heartbreaking to see them lose, although I knew they were in trouble when they were set up so close to the goal like that. Remember, they did sweep the season series, which means they are definitely capable of winning in Canada, albeit it'll be incredibly difficult with the playoff atmosphere. Go Canes!
4/25/2006 12:37:54 AM
The first period tonight? It was three goals on twelve shots.
4/25/2006 12:38:23 AM
Haha yeah that was our section. I think we were driving people around us nuts with that cowbell.
4/25/2006 12:47:11 AM
ha, i was in 313, the cowbell ruled. there were some carolina fans in front of us who got pissed when we booed the hell out of 'ol Roy when he came on the jumbotron for that lame ass song
4/25/2006 12:53:58 AM
I was with Vulcan and the cowbell, which he actually stole from me, and wouldn't give back because he was having so much fun with it. I think we need to start a "Cowbell Choir" and have a whole section full of cowbell. Our ears would be busted, but it would be a lot of fun.
4/25/2006 12:57:39 AM
defense is pathetic
4/25/2006 1:17:30 AM
if it makes it to game 5 there is a guy who sits under a tent over at damons...has mad tickets in 312, selling them for 20 and as the game gets closer 10. just fyi
4/25/2006 1:18:50 AM
^I heard that from someone else too. I think I may have to visit him for game 5
4/25/2006 1:27:47 AM

4/25/2006 1:34:09 AM
^^^That was the guy who gave us ours for free. We were just going to watch the game over there. He lowered the prices from $20, to $10 as the game started, then just gave them away when he saw he wouldn't be able to sell them. We just finished up our food and walked across the street.[Edited on April 25, 2006 at 2:20 AM. Reason : .]

at this point, i hope they can split up north, if not just for another home game, or just to stick to those french cheese eating liberal canadians for one night.[Edited on April 25, 2006 at 12:24 PM. Reason : 30kk2]

Great game, sucks it turned out the way it did. It was amazing to see the vets step up and lead the team back twice. Recchi played the best game I have ever seen him play for us and I think he was our best player tonight all around. Props to Aaron Ward and Commodore on the back end for playing great games. As well as Weight and Brindy up top. That had to be one of the least consistant officiated games i have ever seen. Calling phantom holding the stick penalties and not calling blatant trips and hooks. It was on both sides, not just stuff that happened to the 'Canes.

Watching Hurricanes games makes me actively root for the other team just because Trip Tracey infuriates me so much.
4/25/2006 2:21:16 PM
4/25/2006 3:22:11 PM
Brind'Amour and cullen were our best offensive players and our defense wasnt bad either...with ward starting that game it would have been over in regulation.... hopeuflly hedican will get more pp time, i thought he did really well on the point
4/25/2006 4:54:18 PM
^truealso, i thought that ladd did a pretty good job bringing in some physical play. all through game 1 i was screaming for them to finish some checks and actually get physical. ladd definitely laid it into some people
4/25/2006 4:59:44 PM
cullen had a good offensive game but defense was suspect at best, he was guilty of watching the puck in his own zone.
4/25/2006 5:31:54 PM
they all did great, and better. it just wasnt enough defensively.
4/25/2006 6:16:32 PM
I'd like to see Babchuk play, but not sure who I'd sit on D since Oleg was on the bench for game 2. GO CANES!!
4/26/2006 2:06:27 AM
'Canes win tonight 4-1. If I'm wrong, I plan to be too drunk to notice.
4/26/2006 10:02:27 AM
I think the Canes need to come out with their own version of this before the game: http://youtube.com/watch?v=9Zvs4T4RU30
