i mean but seriously...i dont think well get him but that doesnt mean shit..."I dont give a shit about North Carolina right now"
4/3/2006 8:38:24 AM
Not to stoke the flames of speculation about Barnes or anything, but....Didn't Roy Williams say something similar to that just prior to taking the UNC-Hell job?
4/3/2006 8:40:33 AM
Thats not even remotely similar.
4/3/2006 8:42:58 AM
wow, what shocking news
4/3/2006 8:58:23 AM
What about Pitino....hahaha....he has ties with the ACC

i thought he said it BEFORE the championship game...and there were a few signs to that effect among the Kansas faithful at the game...
4/3/2006 9:10:04 AM
nopesaid it during the post-game interview
4/3/2006 9:10:33 AM

4/3/2006 9:42:00 AM
not sure if this was posted or notbut i dont mind the prospect of the GM coach
4/3/2006 9:50:46 AM
That dude is like 80. I still want a somewhat young coach who is going to be here for a while.
4/3/2006 9:54:52 AM
wait, so you want a coach that's gonna stick around and develop a system over several years?
4/3/2006 9:57:54 AM
where on earth could we have found someone like that
4/3/2006 10:00:00 AM
lol
4/3/2006 10:01:28 AM
4/3/2006 10:05:00 AM
i do think we need someone with charisma to come in, as long as they are a good coach. we need someone to unite the fanbase and gain everyone's support. i'm tired of this arguing about the coach shit.
4/3/2006 10:06:36 AM
4/3/2006 10:07:57 AM
^ummm... maybe you should reread your post and that quote and try again
4/3/2006 10:09:52 AM
Actually you may want someone like that.Take what Herb's done, stabilize it, and then when he retires we take another long look at the NCAA coaching field.
4/3/2006 10:10:52 AM
so we will give another coach 15+ years to develop into a national powerhousejust not sendekgotcha^thats actually true. if you can get the program to the next level with someone for 5-10 years, the coaching pool once they go will be much bigger than it is now[Edited on April 3, 2006 at 10:11 AM. 4/3/2006 10:10:56 AM
that's just the thing. if someone comes in here and makes us better than we are now in <=5 years (i'm talkin consistant sweet 16 or better), why get rid of them?
4/3/2006 10:16:28 AM
not talking about getting rid of himbut if its an older coach, and they can do that for us, then the pool after he retires will be that much better
4/3/2006 10:17:37 AM
ok i can see that, but i'd rather just hire a younger guy unless the old guy was bobby knight or something lol.
4/3/2006 10:18:19 AM
I am putting my resume in for the head coaching position... here are my credentials9-3 lifetime coaching record (15-17 boys basketball)Reached championship game in first season (tournament experience)Quality references (players, players parents, my mom)Overall pissed off, firey coaching attitude on the court (chairs thrown = 1)
4/3/2006 10:20:03 AM
i think no matter who we get, we are in for a few years of true mediocrity (no ncaas, middle/bottom of the acc). the players we have now were picked for herbs offense, and came to state because they wanted to play in that kind of offense.we simply arent equipped to play a more physical type of offense.i hope to god im wrong, but i think for the next couple years, we are going to refer to the end of herb's tenure as the "good ol days" ...when we used to win.

our fan base wont go for longevity. along with longevity comes periods of down-time.i think our fans have already shown that they cant and wont accept that.
4/3/2006 10:33:31 AM
i don't disagree that's a possibility sober, but parts of the texas game looked promising that we can play a more up and down style. with fells, costner, and grant given the way he played late, i think we can run well with these athletes, and a more conventional offense would allow ced to emerge as a true star. i'd be lying if i said that i wasn't worried how things are going to turn out, but i also think there's room to be optimistic.

all i have to say is that if fowler values his life, he better not fuck this up. i can already envision NC State fans rioting outside his house with torches and a noose hanging from a tree.
4/3/2006 10:42:28 AM
^^^^Sad...but maybe true.It pains me to say that we probably have the most irrational and delusional fans in the country. Then you add that we're probably not the brightest...and you have a bad combination.^^^My bad for misinterpreting. I wholeheartedly agree with you.[Edited on April 3, 2006 at 10:44 AM. Reason : .]

Is anyone "IN" at scout.com to get this new article? Finding the Next Coach
4/3/2006 11:24:55 AM
^Yeah...it pretty much names every available coach. It says our chances with Barnes, Few, and Jay Wright are slim to none. It says we would have a good chance with Calipari, Gillespie, Turgeon, Altman, Larranaga, Frank Haith (what???), Gregg Marshall, then it lists Sean Miller, Larry Harris and a bunch of former players. It says we would have a slim to fair chance at with Beilein.I'm torn on Calipari, but it seems he'd be the only big name coach we have a shot at. And I'm surprised it didn't mention Montgomery.
