Yeah, pretty much. It also means Glavine will definitely be back next year (since he has a team option for $9.5M). Pedro makes the Mets that much better but he certainly isn't a necessity.

How about old man Franco with 5 RBIs in 3 innings!

glavine has a player option for 2007 than can be declined in lieu of the team option

i'm torn between wanting Maine to lose because he's an obnoxious arrogant asshole whose twin brother was ten times cooler than he

or wanting him to win so i can sell my yearbook with his autograph for $$$

Duque is a stupid game 1 pitcher. Do the mets really not have anyone better? I know he's been hot in september, but he's about off and on as they come.

I'm listening to WFAN at work and they said el Duque will likely start... but we won't know for sure until 10am tomorrow.

Now get to the playoffs win the division for 13 straight years and you might be as good as the Braves

Now let's not get crazy. The Mets are already at LEAST as good as the Braves by, ya know, advancing in the playoffs.

I'm not saying 14 straight divisional titles isn't impressive. Of course, it is.

But it means jack without World Series titles. And the Braves have ONE to show for a decade and a half of "dominance." Give me a break.

I hope you are joking because otherwise you are a damn idiot. Cox will not ever be fired. He may retire soon, but they are not getting rid of him. It is not his fault that the upper management was too dumb to get a closer last year and that Tim Hudson sucked ass and Hampton/Ramirez/Thomson all were hurt.

Also calling the Braves franchise a joke is hilarious coming from a Yankees fan. The Braves develop 3X as many MLB players through their system than the Yankees. Just because the Braves can't spend $200 million to go buy everyone else's talent does not mean they are a joke. Their minor league system has consistently been one of the strongest for a long time.

How can a Yankees fan, after the last 6 seasons, possibly talk shit about the Braves playoff failings?

This is stupid. The Braves will be good next year. In fact, I'm glad the Mets have taken a bit from both teams. They are spending wisely in Beltran, Delgado, hopefully Zito. Yet they are keeping young [or homegrown] pitchers in Perez, Maine, Pelfrey, Humber, and Heilman.

It's going to be a fun few years.

Man, it still hurts today.

At least I got to see them beat up on Atlanta in person this season.

^^ The Mets are doing a great job stock piling young arms. Now if they had only kept Kazmir imagine where they'd be

the mets are already at LEAST as good as the braves? what does that even mean?

the mets trip to the NLCS somehow equates their success to that of the braves? the braves have made plenty such trips with the same result and all the while the mets were finishing 3rd in the division. yeah the braves only have one world series. how many do the mets have?

i'm not trying to stir the shit again. you guys did better this year. congratulations. but don't say shit like 'the mets NLCS run was just as impressive as the braves 14 year stretch -- you just look stupid.

--

and cox getting fired is the dumbest thing i've ever heard. but 2007 is probably his last and could be the braves last shot and doing anything for a few years.

A Yankees fan said that, not a Mets fan.

I honestly think the Mets are set up very well for a long time. They have an absolute ton of young pitching. They have the $$$ to fill in the position players with free agency. And they have the cornerstones in Reyes and Wright that every team set up needs to have.

The Braves have a lot of good young talent too but I believe the Mets young arms are probably better and definitely deeper.

Nope. They pay him to hit 41 HRs, score 125 runs, and drive in 120 runs. Oh and the gold glove defense.

I understand how you can be angry at Beltran though since he owns the Braves like they are working on a plantation.

Because, unlike the Braves, my team has four WS titles to show for its decade of divisional dominance (alliteration attack!).

I recognize you hate the Yanks and all. But you at least have to admit that the argument makes sense--that it's silly for the Braves to try to taunt any team about postseason stuff when they came up 1-for-14 in the postseason.

Again, I have nothing against the Braves. Ernie, I wasn't saying that the Mets are anything close to 14-years-in-a-row good. But it's crazy to think the Braves are just God's gift to baseball cuz they had a knack for making the playoffs. What they did for 15 years was very impressive. But c'mon, no WS titles...well, that's lame.

The Mets finally got it right and there gunna be good for a while. But no matter how good they are and how bad the Yankees are they'll always be second class in NY.
