so i guess pedro's pending retirement will only increase the omar's pitch to zito?
9/30/2006 7:42:13 PM
Yeah, pretty much. It also means Glavine will definitely be back next year (since he has a team option for $9.5M). Pedro makes the Mets that much better but he certainly isn't a necessity. How about old man Franco with 5 RBIs in 3 innings!
9/30/2006 8:04:00 PM
glavine has a player option for 2007 than can be declined in lieu of the team option

Game 1: El Duque vs. Lowe WGame 2: Glavine vs. Kuo WGame 3: Maddux vs. Trachsel LGame 4: Maine vs TBA W

i'm torn between wanting Maine to lose because he's an obnoxious arrogant asshole whose twin brother was ten times cooler than heor wanting him to win so i can sell my yearbook with his autograph for $$$
10/2/2006 6:56:07 PM
Duque is a stupid game 1 pitcher. Do the mets really not have anyone better? I know he's been hot in september, but he's about off and on as they come.[Edited on October 2, 2006 at 7:14 PM. Reason : .]

I'm listening to WFAN at work and they said el Duque will likely start... but we won't know for sure until 10am tomorrow.[Edited on October 3, 2006 at 5:31 PM. Reason : that was a report straight from the field at Shea.]

How much did you guys pay Beltran to WATCH St Louis go to the WS??
10/19/2006 11:53:28 PM
he had a front row seat
10/19/2006 11:53:53 PM
Now get to the playoffs win the division for 13 straight years and you might be as good as the Braves
10/19/2006 11:54:10 PM
Now let's not get crazy. The Mets are already at LEAST as good as the Braves by, ya know, advancing in the playoffs.I'm not saying 14 straight divisional titles isn't impressive. Of course, it is.But it means jack without World Series titles. And the Braves have ONE to show for a decade and a half of "dominance." Give me a break.
10/20/2006 10:10:13 AM
he's rightthe Braves franchise is a jokeand Bobby Cox is a another bad season away from being fired
10/20/2006 10:15:03 AM
Troll away. They'll be back and just as good in '07 without a doubt.

How can a Yankees fan, after the last 6 seasons, possibly talk shit about the Braves playoff failings? This is stupid. The Braves will be good next year. In fact, I'm glad the Mets have taken a bit from both teams. They are spending wisely in Beltran, Delgado, hopefully Zito. Yet they are keeping young [or homegrown] pitchers in Perez, Maine, Pelfrey, Humber, and Heilman. It's going to be a fun few years.
10/20/2006 12:06:35 PM
Man, it still hurts today. At least I got to see them beat up on Atlanta in person this season.[Edited on October 20, 2006 at 12:14 PM. Reason : .]
10/20/2006 12:14:21 PM
^^ The Mets are doing a great job stock piling young arms. Now if they had only kept Kazmir imagine where they'd be

A Yankees fan said that, not a Mets fan.I honestly think the Mets are set up very well for a long time. They have an absolute ton of young pitching. They have the $$$ to fill in the position players with free agency. And they have the cornerstones in Reyes and Wright that every team set up needs to have. The Braves have a lot of good young talent too but I believe the Mets young arms are probably better and definitely deeper.
10/20/2006 2:34:50 PM
god damned metsi wanted to make fun of my boy while the tigers whooped that ass in the series
10/20/2006 2:36:36 PM
10/20/2006 2:38:19 PM
Nope. They pay him to hit 41 HRs, score 125 runs, and drive in 120 runs. Oh and the gold glove defense.I understand how you can be angry at Beltran though since he owns the Braves like they are working on a plantation.[Edited on October 20, 2006 at 2:43 PM. Reason : x]

all that success against the braves sure helped him in that at bat
10/23/2006 12:01:36 AM
The Mets finally got it right and there gunna be good for a while. But no matter how good they are and how bad the Yankees are they'll always be second class in NY.

the best part of the cards winning the series?braden looper has a ring
