He wanted to play RB and stay near home.

It came down to State and Wake.... State wanted him at either slot or CB, Wake wanted him at RB

I was originally pissed, but in the best interest of Adams, he will have a better career, and be much more successful at RB than he would have been at NC State

with this in mind, it seems that he made a good decision

^ Chuck needs to go give Grobe some head and steal his playbook. With our stable of RBs, that'll be our only chance of success

i saw somewhere else that said he was 6-4 200.

The Orlando Sentinal rated him the #25 player in the state of florida and friggin scout.com can't even evaluate him and assign him stars?? Rivals hasn't evaluated him either, 2 stars are given to anyone that has an offer from a decent school. Who the hell does the evaluating in FLA, i understand theres a lot more kids down there, but GEEZ..put more people in that state to evaluate, this is rediculous.

btw, i hope he comes here.

does this sort of thing happen every year or is this something that has just happened more this year (w/ us losing all of these previous commitments)?? and if it is the first year that it has happened at least consistently, does anyone have any insight on what is the deal????

We've never had a big problem with it...and I don't remember any school having this kind of problems with it barring NCAA sanctions or something

It's becuase of:
1) Shitty record
2) Doc, Bunting, Beamer, etc... negatively recruiting against us
3) Losing Diaz (Recruiting Coordinator)
4) Everyone leaving (You'd think it'd be viewed as a positive, but (#2) is convincing kids it's a problem in the program)
5) Again, losing Doc. He was an awesome recruiter. Shitty coach, but awesome recruiter.

There's actually rumors floating that some of our own players have badmouthed the program to kids on OV's. I really really would like to think that's not true. If it is, then it's time for Chuck to either find a new job or start kicking kids off of the team.

Thats the fucking problem...I feel like we dont talk enough shit about other programs to get kids here. From everything we hear from the recruits, it always seems like we leave the door open for them, but let them make their own decision, and dont recruit against other schools.

I mean dont get me wrong, I like running a clean program and clean recruiting, but if next years class is as bad as this one is gonna be, we gotta change something. Its well documented how Bunting and Beamer talk shit about State in particular.

We have about EVERYTHING working against us this year in recruiting, so I'm not really surprised we dont have a great class. Hopefully next year we can coach our way to a winning season and turn things around from there.

I'm starting to wonder if Chuck is doing that becuase he learned it at FSU. By the time he got to FSU, they were already pretty well established and had the "awe" factor. That might have worked there.

I really think in order to recruit like that at NC State... at least until you put together back-to-back-to-back 9-10 win seasons, you're gonna have to be cut-throat about it.

Its like the recruits that came the weekend before exams, when we played App. State in basketball. Two of them walked into Chucks office and wanted to commit then and there. Chuck told them to take their other official visits before they made their decision. I think it was Baldwin and Walker, so we got them anyway, but i'm wondering now if he shouldnt go ahead and take advantage of that while he can.

Like you say, if we're a great program, thats gonna land us more recruits than agressive bashing and strict commitment rules, but until then, I think something has to change.

i wonder how many more great things would've been achieved in the world if guys didn't fall for the highschool "love" and would've made unaltered choices about their futures.

Not saying that douche(and based on that myspace profile, he is a douche) would've achieved great things, but im sure there was a lot of other potential out there that ended up just being a life stuck in their hometown, married to an overweight high school "love" with their 5 kids.

We got some pretty good talent in this class. Not many numbers, but Chuck definitely is getting some kids in here that he thinks can play. He's not going to fill out a recruiting class just to look good on paper and have numbers. He's offering kids that fit our system and will play. Yeah, we lost some recruits to other schools but who doesn't?

WVU isn't a bad deal for recruits. All they have to do is beat a decent Louisville team, and a bunch of weak Big East teams... and they are BCS bound.

GO PACK

^the funny thing is, WVU's recruiting class is ranked behind ours right now at 55 nationally, how bad does that suck for winning a BCS game, and being ranked top 5 in a lot of the pre-pre season polls coming out

I'm not too much into the whole 4 or 5 star recruiting only anyways. We've gotten our fair share of those since Chuck's been here and we still haven't finished higher than 4th in the ACC. It's time to get guys who are willing to get better and play as a team. Sure it would be nice to land a few but it sure isn't a measuring stick to success.

TE/ATH Rashad Phillips committed to the Pack today. Was down to us and Syracuse. This guy grew up a NCSU Basketball fan (From VA).

First off, this is the first recruit I can think of to ever have admitted being a NCSU basketball fan since he was a child.

And second, welcome to the Pack. This guy played on the same team as WR Percy Harvin (some people's #1 player in the country who signed with UF). Didn't play football all of high school, I think he took his sophomore or junior year off to focus on basketball... but Harvin convinced him to come back to the team for his senior year. Looks like it worked out for him.

New Commitment:

6'5" WR Jarvis Williams

We're out of it with Adam Patterson. He's got a final two and it ain't us.

We probably won't offer Melvin Patterson (another WR) so he'll end up at ECU just like another WR that we told no (Javon Brumsey).

Emanuel Cook is down to us and South Carolina, he's probably headed to USC though.

We should land DE/DT Audi Augustin who is down to us and Pitt.

We may end up with Preston Parker. He could very easily be Miami/FSU bound though, but we're right there in it for him. (Another WR)

And we may even end up with RB Norman Whitley of Richmond Cty.

Someone mentioned EKU as a possibilty for Bobby. I think he's back home in Florida now going over his options so he can enroll in summer school at wherever.

Preston Parker is likely going to Miami. I believe FSU is out of it. If Miami really wanted him, he would have probably already committed. It'll be interesting and Parker could be one of Amato's typical signing day surprises.

We're also in the final three for safety Greg "Hollywood" Davis out of VA. But with the loss os Manny Diaz, we're probably done. But this could be another signing day surprise.

This year hasn't been a very "hyped" up class, but we got some damn good players in it. People can hate on it all they want, but we've got several playmakers joining the team.

A couple of LB'ers (one from FL and one from NC) who have a lot of potential...

DeAndre Morgan ran a 4.26 at Miami's Nike Camp. That broke Devin Hester's previous record.

Justin Burke is another big get. So is Darin Baldwin (safety from FL).

This is what is looks like as far as I know heading into signing day.

QB:
Justin Burke - Probably our future at QB. Something like 60TDs and 6INT's as a Senior.

RB: none

FB:
Cedric Hickman - Big dude. Him and Pat Bedics will be 2 FB's next year. That's a change from these last few years. We will have true fullbacks.

WR:
LaMarcus Bond - Tramain Hall's successor, will probably redshirt. Probably Blackman's backup.
Donald Bowens - 6'3"
Owen Spencer - 6'3"
Darrell Davis - 6'5"
Carlos Everett - 6'2"
Jarvis Williams - 6'5" sleeper, was offered to play bball and football at Cincy. Florida turned up the heat on him late but didn't have room to offer. Grades were a concern early on that kept some teams away. But he is fully qualified.

Kickers:
Josh Czajkowski
Nathan Franklin

OL:
Cole Baucom - Walk-On (Enrolled)
Gary Gregory

TE:
Rashad Phillips - grew up a NCSU basketball fan

DB's:
DeAndre Morgan - Fast as hell. DeJuan's little brother. CB
Darin Baldwin - from Marcus Hudson's HS. CB/S
Jordan Delegal - John Dunlap's HS. Sleeper written all over him. CB/S/LB
Jevon Walker - wasn't highly ranked at all due to playing out of position all of high school. They had him playing DE when he is really a S/DB/possibly a LB. Also from Marcus Hudson's HS, teammates with Baldwin. Pipeline? Safety prospect most likely.

LB:
Nathaniel Irving - played in Shrine Bowl, some consider him 2nd best LB in NC behind Brandon Spikes.
John Ware - tough lookin prospect from FL.

Still a shot:
S Greg "Hollywood" Davis - Final 3
RB Norman Whitley - Who knows what's going on here, but you never know what will happen on Signing Day. Whitley could be anywhere from AppState/ECU bound to Clemson/NCSU/UNC bound.
DT/DE Audi Augustin - Final 2
LB Emanuel Cook - Final 2
DT Jason Kates - Final 4
LB Michael Dominguez - if we offer, he's ours.
LB Philip Oboh - if we offer, he's ours.
WR Melvin Patterson - if we offer, he's ours... if not, ECU.
WR Preston Parker - Final 4, probably headin to "The U"

Melvin Patterson's Scout.com profile
School Interest Level Offer?
North Carolina State High Interest Yes

who says we didnt offer Melvin Patterson? The kid has offers from Florida, Iowa, and WVU. With as bad of a year this will end up being, it would be retarded to not offer a kid like this. I think he got hurt during his senior year, but who gives a shit, so did DaJuan Morgan, and he's gonna be a fucking stud for us.
