10/16/2005 5:25:03 AM
Over here in the pacific, you never can tell which direction they will go in. Take a look at the past track for this one.
10/16/2005 5:48:16 AM
looks like it will be a major cane, Wilma probably will be the end of the season(at least for big storms) For the record books, we need Tropical Storm Alpha.
10/16/2005 10:29:51 AM
Looks like a tampa landfall
10/16/2005 12:54:13 PM

As stated on a previous page, they should start naming them after video game charaters after the initial 21 have been reached.

10/19/2005 5:16:08 AM
10/19/2005 8:32:27 AM
882mb...that seems really really low...what was katrina's pressure when it was a cat 5?
10/19/2005 8:40:37 AM
^it was higher. I believe this 882 pressure reading is the lowest in the Atlantic in recorded history.
10/19/2005 8:45:55 AM
holy shit
10/19/2005 8:56:08 AM
yeah this storm is no joke.
10/19/2005 9:03:13 AM

10/19/2005 9:13:00 AM
This storm sucks...My fiance's parents are on a cruise in the Carribian right now...and its going to ruin some football games this weekend
10/19/2005 9:26:42 AM
gonna fall apart before it hits land
10/19/2005 9:39:13 AM
this furthers my theory that all those hurricanes back in the day that were 200+ mph wind speed never really got that highbecause we are seeing crazy pressures and winds less that 200 mph
10/19/2005 9:52:38 AM
10/19/2005 9:53:58 AM
if by back in the day you mean before the 60s...well we weren't flying airplanes into hurricanes back then and measuring.
10/19/2005 9:54:04 AM
i knowthat is what i meanit is just something to think about[Edited on October 19, 2005 at 9:54 AM. Reason : edit]

10/19/2005 1:38:45 PM
i kinda find the path it's taking interesting, if you view a map of water temperatures, this things projected path goes through the warmest water it can all the way up the eastern seaboardi know outside forces more heavily affect the path than anything....just seems interesting
10/19/2005 1:49:17 PM
True. Were they flying into storms back when Camille was around? How come nothing seems to touch that 190 level? Camille's pressure was nowhere near this low.
10/19/2005 1:50:44 PM
wind speed between 175-190 both = extreamly deadlythe surge with this whore has to be insane though
10/19/2005 1:53:12 PM
If you look at the forecast path notice that huge jump from Sat. to Sun. that means the winds are really gonna pick this up and move it which is not conducive to maintaining anywhere near this strength, it will be like most of the other cat 5 storms, get real big out in the open and by landfall maybe a cat 3 at best
10/19/2005 1:56:39 PM
^^^Source: http://sciencepolicy.colorado.edu/about_us/meet_us/roger_pielke/camille/report.html" The last reconnaissance flight was made early Sunday afternoon, and the crew recorded a central pressure of 26.61 inches (901 mb) and clocked maximum winds at more than 200 mph near the center (USACE 1970). Hurricane-force winds extended 60 miles from the center and gales outward about 180 miles. The storm was now at its peak and was located less than 100 miles from the mouth of the Mississippi River."At landfall: " There were no records of winds near the eye of the storm, but estimates ranged up to 190 mph. The tidal surge reached an unprecedented height of 22.6 feet above mean sea level at Pass Christian and was nearly 6 feet above mean sea level as far east as Gulf Shores, Alabama (USACE 1970). Near the west end of the Bay St. Louis bridge, of 26.85 inches of pressure was recorded. "
