20/22 in a 6-2 win last night. Our #10 picked up a few penalties as per usual.

why does joshnumbers spell goalie goally?
9/7/2006 5:19:50 PM
you act like number 10 reads tdub.i miss skating... one more week... one more.so, im thinking of having wally mount black tuuk custom+'s on my vector 10.0s when i get em. your thoughts.
9/7/2006 5:20:43 PM
I know he doesn't read tdub, but I needed a 10.I don't really like the Externo holder, so go for the Tuuk.
9/7/2006 5:38:33 PM
gotta find a way to get them on the cheap yo
9/7/2006 6:08:22 PM
i went to coolsports, they're gonna hook me up with some LS2's so i can dye them black and they'll mount them on the skates, for $40-50. w00t for cheap ass deal
9/9/2006 12:10:59 AM
I like all those guys, but Wally > Coolsports.
9/9/2006 12:54:55 AM
i might have them take the holders off, give me the ls2's and give them to wally. basically, they said they'd keep the e-pro holders and knock off whatever for the new ones.

this proguard elite tape from the garner ice house BLOWS... wtf is up with this shit.
9/12/2006 12:14:53 AM
The ProGuard tape wears a little better than Renfrew but the glue on it sucks.
9/12/2006 12:23:05 AM
basically. im liking this friction tape though. hoping for something a little tackier from wally.
9/14/2006 1:36:00 PM
hockey season's back, so this thread needs a bump. Why is the curvature of the stick blade such a big deal? Does it make your job impossibly harder if Jaromir Jagr has an illegal curve to his blade? Can it just be shot harder that way, or is it harder to read? Why?[Edited on September 15, 2006 at 9:26 PM. Reason : .]
9/15/2006 9:25:57 PM
no you can lift it easier when you have fucked up curves like his
9/15/2006 9:47:41 PM
9/15/2006 9:58:04 PM
^That's some nice hockey junk in the trunk on that hedge.
9/15/2006 10:14:52 PM
The biggest problem with a huge curve is that someone can wind up and take a huge slapshot without any thought of accuracy and still hit the net. That's when you get 120 MPH slappers flying at your head...uncool.[Edited on September 16, 2006 at 10:50 PM. Reason : 5]
9/16/2006 10:50:16 PM
Thanks. So why does Jagr care? It's not like he takes many slap shots.Who is the goalie in Canes camp with the completely white helmet?
9/20/2006 1:03:24 AM
Craig Kowalski
9/20/2006 1:06:31 AM
Wow! You know everything. I figured out that Peters was the other guy.Where's the worst spot to take a shot? Any gaps in the pads I should know about? And I still don't understand why Jagr and Ovechkin like extra curved blades. At least this is making me sleepy.[Edited on September 20, 2006 at 1:21 AM. Reason : .]
9/20/2006 1:13:10 AM
The worst spot for the goalie, or the shooter? I'd say the hardest shots to get on a consistent basis are ones that come in on the blocker side, just above the pad in the butterfly, because it's hard to get your blocker out there sometimes when you're doing a passive-hands butterfly. Bad angle shots can also be tricky, because pads these days are meant to seal in the butterfly, not seal the post.Basically, a big curve allows for more accuracy and more finesse in the hands without having to worry so much about the puck rolling off the blade.
9/20/2006 1:32:16 AM
that shit wasnt slashing
9/28/2006 6:15:52 PM
^ The first one wasn't. To be honest, though, you took a pretty good swing at him the second time and by the book they can call an attempted slash.I wanna know how the fuck I got an unsportsmanlike with no warning. WTF.
9/28/2006 7:47:23 PM
Even though I've answered non-goalie questions in this thread before, I'm making it official: this thread is for any hockey questions. It's like Kaiton's Corner, but it's Vinylbandit's Veranda.

^ What's wrong with fighting in hockey?[Edited on September 29, 2006 at 3:51 AM. Reason : ...]
9/29/2006 3:51:31 AM
What's wrong with it? There's nothing wrong. The only problem is the stupid instigator rule which prevents fights when they should happen for the good of clean play.
9/29/2006 9:42:55 AM
why are adult rec leagues invariably non-checking? i mean come on.[Edited on September 29, 2006 at 9:45 AM. Reason : *]
9/29/2006 9:45:14 AM
Because people have to work in the morning, and 37 year-old assistant bank managers usually break when you hit them. There are a few full-contact adult leagues and tournaments, but you have to look hard to find them.
9/29/2006 4:46:02 PM
Ask me about Tanabe.I dare you.
9/30/2006 1:40:49 AM
what the hell happened at the game earlier? lost it and the shootout
9/30/2006 1:47:49 AM
Almost no one (save Commodore and Walker) played worth a goddamn, and Tanabe is up to his old tricks and was personally responsible for the third goal. Cam had to make some crazy saves on lateral shit and was still only 9/11. Walker had a good fight, though...really pounded a guy who got in a little too deep for his own good. Willy and Cole both jumped in on different incidents when guys were going after Staal, but Willy left in the third with some sort of groin problem (eep).
9/30/2006 1:52:43 AM
ouch and what was with the fights? i haven't seen them fight like that in awhile

9/30/2006 2:26:07 AM
HAHA nice what don't people like about him? I was sitting in a suite with a few kids so people kept it pretty clean, but there were a few comments made about one of his plays
9/30/2006 3:24:41 AM
He's a defenseman who doesn't play defense. That's the main complaint. His lazy positioning helped contribute to the first goal and the combination of his so-poorly-timed-I-said-"no"-as-soon-as-he-moved pinch and his inability to corral the puck led directly to the third goal. The main problem is that he's a good skater and pretty good with his stick, but he's so selfish he never gets to use those tools to help the team in his own zone. I'm hoping he'll get better, but we've been told that he's ready, in his second stint as a Cane, to buckle down and play team hockey...but tonight it looked like the same old Avi.[Edited on September 30, 2006 at 3:59 AM. I have Legace as my 2nd goalie on my yahoo nhl fantasy thing, is he worth keeping around or should i trade him, and if so, who do you recommend? ]
10/18/2006 3:10:21 AM
^^ I never heard anything about ditching the trapezoid.^ Legace doesn't have much help, but who's available? Giguere is only getting half to a third of the Ducks' starts, but he's been playing well. Vesa Toskala is also an underrated starter.
10/18/2006 3:15:01 AM
Maybe it was just commentator chatter and speculation during the playoffs. My mom heard it too, so I know I am not the only looney. Free Marty!!!
