Since it appears that links are automatically created now, perhaps a way to avoid creating a link should be as well, such as a [nolink] tag or something

Links are only created after a sequence of three Ws and a period. There is only one instance I've encountered where this screwed anything up, and all it messed up was me trying to disguise a link, so there's no use for such a tag.

for real.. if you type out a URL, why NOT make it a link??
