but child abduction has always been a thing. just easier to get away with when we were younger since we were wandering around alone. now it's heavily publicized

we just got lucky lol

well, that, and we knew how to run fast and who not to trust, I suppose :3

it could just be today's kids are dumber (or weak, as you said initially)


also cameras are ubiquitous, so now that I think about it, normal trick or treating should be easier these days... :thinking_face:

I always felt like it was one of those church things they did out in the deep country because door-to-door trick-or-treating wasn't really possible given the distance between houses. Then I guess lazy parents co-opted it? Seems about right for today's helicopter parenting.


Luckily, my neighborhood still does the normal door-to-door thing. Or driveway-to-driveway at least. My old neighborhood didn't really do shit.

We're lucky that we're in a neighborhood with a good amount of trick-or-treaters.

My kids have been to some trunk or treat things (not on Halloween, and usually with in-laws), and while you get a ton of candy fast, it just seems kinda hollow (more like Holloween)

A bunch of dopes park their cars in a parking lot and the kids just go around to the backs of cars and get candy all in one "safe" place.

Although I don't actually think it facilitates safe practices as I alluded to in my earlier post ITT.
