As a child I thought I’d be able to afford Lego’s when I grew up.

Nope. lol.

I would love to have some of those Star Wars UCS sets, but damn, spending that much money on plastic is a tough sell for me.

No, i am a regular human person.

I loved legos as a kid, but they are so overpriced now it's not even funny. I guess they gotta pay all their licensing fees somehow.

I bought the Seinfeld set a few years ago. Worth it.

I had a bunch as a kid that my parents still have at their house. I have a few of my old sets with me, but I recently got back into them and bought a couple of sets. The coolest one I have gotten so far is the Concorde which I came home and immediately built in about 4-5 hours. My wife likes the flower sets so she has purchased and built three or four of them as well.

My wife has found me a couple of limited edition niche sets suited to my more obscure interest (container shipping), including the Panama Canal (with working locks!) and the Maersk McKinney-Moller. Both A+ sets that she probably spent too much on, given that as far as I know they can only be found on eBay.

I love 'em, but haven't got a new set for me since I was a kid. My kids love them, too, so I usually end up just building random things with them.

I judge people who only build the set with the included instructions and then do not tear it down and put it in a big container with all the other lego pieces and then build random shit with all said legos. That is the best part of legos.

Don't even get me started on people who save the fucking boxes

I'll check them out, but I think too obviously seasonal.

Spent four days chaperoning a high school field trip in NYC this weekend and we hit up the LEGO store on Fifth Avenue twice. Didn't get anything but a bunch of the kids picked up stuff. I didn't get anything as I didn't want to deal with trying to fit it in my bags since I wasn't checking anything.

new york city is one of the few places that really scratches that itch of feeling like you're 'somewhere'. I have a friend who goes to college there and I went and crashed with him for a few days, and it was pretty fun (of course, being in a new place always is)

Even on campus, beyond people you hang out with or things you have to go to, it's crazy how empty it gets at times. When I was a freshman, the amount of people that just went home every weekend surprised me

I believe "People of Lego" is the preferred nomenclature

we buy the knockoff Chinese blocks and kits

^^^ I went to grad school there and lived in NYC for 3 years
it's a nice place to visit but if you live there you're broke, anxious, and drinking too much
