I'm going to begin fermenting my ghost peppers I harvested. Perhaps the spice can be used as currency in the new world.

The election time is always a little dull around the DC area. The inauguration is when it really gets crazy. In 2020, there were a lot more crazy MAGA people stumping for Trump in highly visible ways... Which is actually very odd for this area.

Wife and I voted early already, and we are planning on leaving the country for a week during the election. Hooray for a trip to Mexico!

I've fermented a bunch of different peppers this year, as well as roasted them (no ghost or reapers this year though). I went ahead and processed it all into hot-sauce and froze a lot of it.

I read in a few places that really hot peppers won't ferment, but I did some reapers last year and they seemed to ferment just fine.

I wish I'd bought more guns.

I have dug a series of tiger traps in the front yard, now it's just a matter of coating the punji sticks liberally in my own feces. The machine gun nest on top of the house is technically in violation of the HOA rules but they haven't come around to enforce those for some reason.

I'm just kidding, of course. I would never live somewhere with an HOA.

Unfortunately I'm spending this week the same way I spend most weeks, working. Then feeding, washing, and playing with the baby after she gets back from daycare. Then sleeping.

Like EMCE, I live in Maryland, fairly close to the DC line. I don't plan to take any special steps for election day but I might plan some travel for the inauguration. I do feel robbed, though - normally we get inauguration day off, but this year it lands on MLK day anyway, so no bonus day for poor Grumpy.
