It's a modern day Tulip Mania.

I want a Stanley Cup but the Canes keep losing when they should win SMH]
1/23/2024 1:32:02 PM
I was somewhere in the range of 35 - 38 years old, when I realized SMH wasn't onomatopoeia for the smacking lip sound, but rather was internet speak for Shaking My Head.

One of the stupidest crazes yet. It's a cup. Just like Yeti was a cup several years ago. I am protesting this idiotic consumerism at work by continuously using a 4-year-old green polystyrene Solo cup for water which has had multiple splits patched with transparent tape.

Every time I see this mentioned somewhere, I interpret it hockey wise and am confused for a solid minuteevery time^ I actually used to use a stanley thermos (not a super huge one) throughout winters and summers for the years before covid. it wasn't like the ones people carry with a handle though, it was a more oldish styleit was cool cause I used to drink a lot of water, and I'd like hot water in the winters sometimesI don't remember when I stopped, but now I still have a bigger than average bottle, but not as solid as a stanley[Edited on January 23, 2024 at 7:33 PM. I have some yeti but prefer teh can coolers

At least a cup has practical use unlike a beanie baby
1/28/2024 12:48:40 AM
^good point
1/28/2024 1:00:20 AM
crazy that anyone would watch this garbage of a sportwhere is the puckhow are you supposed to see the puck on TV
1/28/2024 11:30:13 AM
lol, what exactly do you think this thread is about?[Edited on January 28, 2024 at 2:41 PM. Reason : OP was vague af when making this thread, per the usual]
1/28/2024 2:39:56 PM
don't pick on me just bc I completely suck and have no connection with reality
1/28/2024 2:47:29 PM
I will not.So, apparently, people have been going crazy lately trying to collect Stanley (the company) cups (metal tumbler, similar to a Yeti mug). People have even been paying over asking price for them.
1/28/2024 3:07:12 PM
OP was not vague at all if you know anything about investing history or speculative bubbles.
1/28/2024 3:10:44 PM
don't you condescend to me
1/29/2024 6:30:56 PM
^^^^^^ they used to highlight the puck during games(blue was slow, orange was fast), back in the 90’s when things were awesome
1/29/2024 8:15:39 PM
I guess it might be better if you're in the audience?or maybe not :3
1/29/2024 8:26:54 PM
Audience is better, hockey is like the perfectly timed sport for bathroom breaks, food, etc. usually just over 2 hours
1/29/2024 8:30:35 PM
it's not that hard to follow a puck on TV.
1/29/2024 9:04:54 PM
Was better when fast pucks were orange and slow pucks were blue
1/29/2024 9:10:41 PM
Sure, back before hdtv. Now it is unnecessary and distracting
1/29/2024 10:14:09 PM
I mean i get it is not necessary, but how is it distracting? You see a blue puck = slow, reddish orange = fast
1/29/2024 10:25:23 PM
watching dudes with sticks hit balls aroundthat's what I like to do
1/30/2024 12:09:41 PM
TIL a puck is actually a ball
1/30/2024 2:41:28 PM
my balls are shaped like discs ok
1/30/2024 2:47:26 PM
