there are a bunch of other small things to which add up



another thing has to do with community and family
like childcare expense is a big point of contention nowadays. it used to not be an expense, even if the mother was busy, grandparents, local neighbors or grandmothers

nowadays I assume if you left your kid with someone, there would be people who go like "oh what if they're kidnapped!!!! "
and more and more people see doing stuff for family as being a chore rather than... family

another thing is like passing things down. I'm the eldest sibling, but I've always seen people in my extended family and in mine pass down clothes and other things
sometimes you'd send over a box of all the old stuff
sharing bedrooms
people's living standards have ballooned and then they compare the 60s/70s/80s, whatever idk

another simple thing is handyman work. I admit I haven't picked a ton up in comparison to my father and his father, but I'm working to rectify that. imagine how much costs one could cut if they didn't need to call a tradesman for every small thing
we have the internet now too!

Of course some things in the economy have become unfair, I'm a big proponent of more antitrust myself, but people need more awareness

I experienced the grocery bag fee while vacationing in Colorado earlier this year. Maybe it's just a City Market thing? There was a shortage of grocery carts to use because people would rather haul all their groceries out in a cart than pay $0.05 per bag.
