the one that they were selling the special glasses to wear so you could stare directly at it, that eclipse sucked, and I had a good view of it lol

was not anywhere near the hype

If you didn't travel to an area that experienced totality, then yeah.

bttt

coming up in about two weeks

2017 eclipse was incredible, and I only got to see about 30 seconds of totality. This time, assuming weather cooperates, I'll get to see ~4 mins of totality. Wild that this is normally a once in a lifetime occurrence but we have the opportunity to see two. Even wilder when you consider the absolute astronomical odds of things that have to fall into place for there to even be an eclipse like this visible from the surface of the only known planet with intelligent life. We are living in a simulation!

Those cheap glasses are worthless...you get a much better view with your naked eyes

You are all good to look right at it with your naked eye during totality. If even 1% of sunlight is viewed without the glasses though, it could result in permanent eye damage. Work had a box of 5000 pairs of eclipse glasses that they were giving out to employees, so I got a stack of 25 for my friends/family.

"Eclipse totality is the exact same as night time" says the person who has clearly never experienced an eclipse. Why go swimming on a hot summer day when you can just take a bath? Its the same thing!

That was awesome, there were some high level clouds, but they didn't block the view at all.

I didn't take any pictures, plenty of professional photographers will have some online, I just enjoyed the moment

I saw it from Cuyahoga Valley National Park outside Richfield, Ohio. About 3 minutes and 15 seconds of totality at this location, but no traffic issues and not very crowded. Clouds were scaring me in the morning with some low-level clouds blocking everything, but they cleared out and only had some spotty high-level clouds and contrails which didn't interfere with the view at all including the corona during totality. With the glasses on, you could not tell there were any clouds in front of the sun.

So excited for another longer totality tonight!

Feel like traffic was overstated. Walmart at noon and sams at 11:30 were not busy at all, roads were fine
