There are new rules like the pitch clock, bigger bases, and limits on the shift. Some players are on new teams this year. Will be interesting to see how it all plays out!

I like the pitch clock. Don't like limiting shifts. Maybe players should just learn to hit better or fuckin bunt to the side of the field with no players. But i guess there's no chance of a homerun when doing those things so they are bad.
2/26/2023 7:30:59 PM
I agree on both!
2/26/2023 7:34:03 PM
Pitch clock off to an amazing start(sox/braves)

2.5 hour games are great. Nice job mlb

double post.I guess I am in the minority, but i am completely OK with banning the shift. I don't want to wait an entire generation to see hitters that have adapted to hitting to all sides. If you can blast one between the first and second baseman, that should be a hit. not a long ground out to the short fielder out in right. old man yells at cloud
2/28/2023 7:47:32 AM
Most sports amend rules to favor the offense and this is no different. So I get it. But it sorta feels like the defense should be able to adjust their alignment based on a batter’s tendencies (which they are still allowed to do just to a far lesser degree). I see both sides and I don’t really feel strongly either way I guess
2/28/2023 8:39:31 AM
I don't think there should be any rules about where position players line up. If a team wants to have 7 guys in the outfield, go for it. 6 guys standing on first base? Sure why not. Everyone standing in a straight line behind the pitcher leading to 2nd base? Weird but ok.^^it's not that batters today can't hit to beat the shift. They could if they wanted to, but it would mean they would have to not be trying to hit home runs. And in modern baseball that's basically no better than an out. Nobody is stopping guys from bunting into the wide open areas of fields, or hitting a ground ball. But then they would have to not swing for the fences which is all that anyone tries to do today because the math says always swinging for a home run is better in the long run. Baseball analytics have already killed of most strategy and game management. Now they are banning defenses to that strategy.]

Back-to-back-to-back home runs on 3 pitches!
6/25/2023 8:28:41 AM
And it’s the 2nd time that same pitcher allowed HRs on 3 straight pitches. Absolutely insane. “Grandpa were you really a major league pitcher?”“Yes but do not Google any of my accomplishments”

Muh braves killing it this June[Edited on June 26, 2023 at 8:34 PM. Reason : Scalping the competition]
6/26/2023 8:34:24 PM
^and doing it with their top 2 starting pitchers missing significant time. 18-4 in June quite impressiveOn the flip side the Mets with the highest payroll in baseball are currently 16 games back and 8.5 from the wild card. Plus they have 2 38+ year old starting pitchers that father time seems to be catching up to.
6/27/2023 9:21:55 AM
Yeah the wheels have totally come off this month for the Mets. The team isn’t really good at any particular aspect of the game right now. Bad pitching. Mediocre offense. Mediocre defense. Bullpen has been fine most of the season, but has struggled recently. As a fan, the silver lining is that even with the largest payroll, a huge chunk of that is tied up in short term deals. So it’s not a doomsday scenario of being stuck in these contracts for the foreseeable future (which has definitely been the case with the Mets in the past). Scherzer has an option for next year which I’m sure he’ll take. Verlander has 1 year left. Cano (lol) comes off the books this off-season. Eduardo Escoboar comes off this year too. I’m not terribly upset with how the this team was built. Tried to piece together the rotation with vets on short term deals. It worked last year. Didn’t work this year. We aren’t handcuffed for the next several years on those contracts. Definitely sucks to watch this train wreck after such a fun and promising 2022.

Just nutshttps://twitter.com/MLB/status/167390357299043123210 Ks, 1 ER as a pitcher3-3, 2 HR, 2 RBI, BB as a batter[Edited on June 28, 2023 at 10:22 AM. Reason : .]

them winning is almost as insane
6/28/2023 11:04:11 AM
I can't wait to see how much he gets paid next year.He is worth it, not sure if he will live up to the back end of the contract, but the next 3-4 years he will be phenomanal.
6/28/2023 3:07:21 PM
https://immaculategrid.comKinda fun game (Imo)
6/30/2023 5:58:01 AM
it's very fun. and very challenging.
6/30/2023 8:16:21 AM
It’s way harder than I expected when I first saw the premise of the game. I’m pretty consistently getting 6 or 7 out of 9. I just try to picture 90s baseball cards of dudes to help me remember what teams they’ve played for. I’m a casual baseball fan so most of my guesses are from the height of my fandom…mid to late 90s, early 00s, and a little bit of current (and then all time great from all eras are pretty easy to know). I have gaps in baseball knowledge (early 90s was a little too early for me, 2010-2018 ish I wasn’t following very closely). Even currently, I follow the Mets and NL East but i struggle other divisions. [Edited on June 30, 2023 at 9:42 AM. Reason : G]

Its definitely fun but hard.I have discovered catchers and semit well known midde relief pitchers are good guesses when I don't know somethingPaul Bako and Kurt Suzuki have played for almost everyone
6/30/2023 10:09:06 AM
^^agreed, a lot of my guess skew that 95-2005 range when I collected cards and played enough video games to know the lineups. Even playing in a very competitive fantasy baseball league. i still struggle to remember who's played where.
6/30/2023 11:40:33 AM
What kind of contract is Ohtani going to get and where?
6/30/2023 11:14:22 PM
I'll guess 9 years for $648M
7/1/2023 7:37:01 AM
These games go back really quickly nowused to the only quick games were Mets away games, because you know the Mets would usually only send 3 batters every inning and naturally Mets away games don't have a bottom of the ninth.
7/1/2023 9:10:52 AM
I’ll guess 11 years, 890 million. Are there any big teams he won’t go to? For instance Dodgers or Yankees?
7/2/2023 4:39:35 PM
Still waiting for MLB to explain the goldilocks ball and Aaron Judge.
7/2/2023 6:44:10 PM
^^I would think he would go anywhere as long as money is right. The key is does he want to go to the playoffs and have a chance at a ring or does he want to go to the team that gives him the most money. The Mets have money but they are going to need 1 or 2 more starters and some defensive depth. I think he stays west coast and signs with Dodgers.
7/3/2023 7:37:01 AM
^why not Giants?

10/7/2023 9:30:05 PM
The Os are just cursed. Best year in a decade, best record in the AL, blown out in the division series.
10/10/2023 8:49:22 PM
Sad too, the O’s feel like a team that anyone would root for to go far. Similar to when the Cubs and muh Indians/Guardians played for the WS. The unlikely and lovable underdogs finally coming together. The O’s have years to go with their core, just tough to see them get swept out by the Rangers**if the score holds
10/10/2023 9:06:49 PM
I’d much rather have Orioles win a game against the rangers
10/10/2023 10:24:11 PM
Not likely to happen, lol. Turned it off after the 3rd. Maybe next year
10/10/2023 10:35:02 PM
Game 7 ALCS tonight. Go Rangers!
10/23/2023 6:29:40 PM
We are half way to the worst possible World Series for ratings, need Arizona to take it home tonight.
10/24/2023 9:31:50 AM
At least an AL team actually made the World Series this year

Ohtani to Dodgers. No real surprise there
12/9/2023 3:46:29 PM
10 years 700 million holy shit. So he’s definitely gonna keep pitching with that contract, I’d assume.
12/9/2023 4:06:52 PM
I assumed he would keep pitching wherever he signed. Would be dumb to sign him and not.
12/9/2023 4:22:52 PM
I thought he had some injury that had his pitching future in some doubt. Idk.
12/9/2023 6:44:06 PM
I don’t think permanently. He probably wouldn’t agree to that
