My sister actually still lives in moore county. She said the power has basically been out for the whole county since 8pm last night. She said everything is closed except some places that have generators. There was also looting at the Walmart and one of the gun stores.

One of my acquaintances from high school started doing drag around 2010 and has posted about shows and events, including story hours at libraries around North Carolina over the past decade.

Sad that these people are now being threatened with literal death because of an organized campaign to foment hate. It’s honestly amazing watching this machine at work… something innocuous for years becomes a political target, then you see local, federal and state legislators align on a message against it that they clearly have workshopped, then you see violence, and they all pretend it’s just organic.

A lady I know had to postpone orthopedic surgery in Moore County last year because of this tomfoolery, and that resulted in an accordingly delayed convalescence that pushed into the Christmas season. My mom had volunteered to assist her in at least the first week of recovery. I missed a full week of vacation time with my aging mother thanks to these domestic terrorists.
