A recent policy change at NC State means that students will no longer keep their @ncsu.edu email address indefinitely, and instead a new account will be created at @alumni.ncsu.edu upon graduation. They will keep their @ncsu.edu for a period of time (I want to say 6 months?), then their @ncsu.edu is removed. Only graduated students are eligible to receive an account at this new domain, so it won't affect the free user spam if the registration rules allow the use of the alumni.ncsu.edu domain. It would just mean that anyone who didn't create a TWW account until after graduation still has the option to do so, even though they don't get to keep their @ncsu.edu account anymore. Also, as a heads up, I believe that all graduated students going back to 2010 will be migrating away from @ncsu.edu to @alumni.ncsu.edu, so there may be a bunch of users who need to switch email addresses in the near future. Mostly just wanted to put the information out there, since I didn't see any recent discussion of the new email stuff, just older references to the (now defunct) forwarding service that used to use the alumni.ncsu.edu domain. Lastly, the eos.ncsu.edu and unity.ncsu.edu domains are no longer used except by some legacy accounts, which are guaranteed to also have an @ncsu.edu email, so maintaining support for those domains for user signups probably doesn't make sense anymore. TL;DR - Graduated students now get @alumni.ncsu.edu and their @ncsu.edu goes away - All graduated students going back to 2010 will be switching to @alumni.ncsu.edu in batches - Maybe allow @alumni.ncsu.edu emails for free accounts? - eos/unity domains aren't used anymore, probably not useful for registration
