Well, should one?
8/2/2021 9:39:16 AM
Yes. Not a new concept at all.

Does the pope shit in the woods?

They should bring back the old-timey smallpox inoculation raids.

we’re a year and a half into the deadliest pandemic in generations and we have a vaccine that has been proven to be safe and effective, with hundreds of millions of doses administered and you decide that today is the day to start this thread
8/2/2021 11:01:32 AM
Yes, because it is now becoming a trend for companies to start mandating it for their employees.
8/2/2021 11:45:56 AM
they have the right to do that and probably prefer employees that are vaccinated against a deadly virus over employees who are vulnerable to dying from said deadly virusevery company should mandate it[Edited on August 2, 2021 at 11:53 AM. Reason : .]
8/2/2021 11:51:49 AM
Did rjr not attend nc state?
8/2/2021 12:32:18 PM
hmmhmmm that right-to-work is the good shit!
8/2/2021 12:37:53 PM
Hey no where have I argued that one should NOT be compelled to vaccinate.
8/2/2021 3:04:06 PM
you’re just doing that very right wing thing of, “hey man, I’m just asking questions”
8/2/2021 3:11:39 PM
I'm being accused of asking a question? Ok. Asking questions is a very right wing thing to do? Ok.But what do you guys think of government mandated vaccines? There is legal precedent in Jacobsen v Massachusetts to compel the public to get vaccinated. That case has also, according to Wikipedia, already been used for several aspects of the current pandemic. That case though was regarding state required vaccines. It doesn't appear that federally required vaccines have been a thing.
8/2/2021 3:35:28 PM
I could be wrong, but I haven't heard of any states considering requiring COVID vaccines for everyone, only private companies requiring it (free market!!1). Though North Carolina already requires vaccinations for things like measles and polio, so mandatory vaccines in general aren't really now.
8/2/2021 4:43:07 PM
I guess there are a few separate questions1. Should private companies be allowed to mandate vaccines for employees?2. Should public institutions...for employees?3. Should public institutions....for 'customers', ie students (not sure of another good example)?4. Should state/federal government....for citizens?Item 3 is already prevalent. I honestly can't remember my own employment requirements and have no idea about public employees. Sounds like 4 has SCOTUS precedent at the state level per rjr although I'm not familiar with implementation.

rjrumfel you already signed your body over to the us govt when you got your drivers license. a vaccine is far less of a violation.
8/2/2021 7:08:44 PM
If one is too stupid to act in one's best interest, one should be compelled.
8/2/2021 7:42:27 PM
^^is that in regards to being an organ donor? because you can not be an organ donor and still have a driver's license
8/2/2021 7:53:44 PM
nah, the draft
8/2/2021 8:20:29 PM
Oh ok. I'm not sure how much a drivers license has to do with that though.
8/2/2021 8:38:50 PM
In many statesbgetting a drivers license also registers you for selective service if you are eligible, but I don't think nc had that law in place until rjr prob already had his driver's license for a few years.[Edited on August 2, 2021 at 9:04 PM. Reason : S]
8/2/2021 9:03:51 PM
Absolutely NOT! My body my choice right libtards???
8/2/2021 9:14:01 PM
I had to sign up separately for selective service once I turned 18. Not sure if it was ever tied to my driver's license.
8/3/2021 10:21:23 AM
ok you guys get the point
8/3/2021 10:42:55 AM
Not gonna lie-- pleasantly surprised daaaaaave isn't a full-on antivaxx kook.
8/3/2021 8:10:44 PM
Idk man if I had to guess I’d say liberals are more likely to be anti-vaxxers than MarxistsActually the org I’m a part of has a 100% vaccination rate out of 40-50 people. Turns out collectivists tend to also be socially responsible [Edited on August 3, 2021 at 9:09 PM. Reason : .]

You gotta keep em separated vaccinated
8/4/2021 5:17:21 PM
Look, every bone in my body says, "Fuck yes, compel them! Send vaccinators door-to-door with a squad of armed National Guardsmen until the job gets done."But I attempt to rein in that natural impulse, because it shouldn't be the first choice.Compulsion is the last resort but it should be on the table. Better than compulsion is incentivization. And I'm talking real incentives, not some lottery bullshit. Pay everyone $100 to get fully vaccinated. $50 a shot for pfizer/moderna, $100 for J&J. In theory that amounts to around $35 billion, plus the cost of setting up a national database to make sure the same people aren't getting multiple shots just for the paycheck. Expensive, but a drop in the bucket compared to the relief bills overall.Best of all is to remove "anti-vax" as a valid political choice, but that ship sailed months ago. Imagine a commercial, released right when the vaccine rollout began. Donald Trump and Barack Obama. "We don't agree on much, but we do agree that you should get vaccinated." Short, simple, direct. Trump sends out some all-caps tweets calling everyone who doesn't get the shot "low-IQ." Obama goes on a few talk shows and says that vaccines are a choice but he thinks they're a good choice. Tucker Carlson picks up the idiot ball and says, "Barack Obama says vaccines are a choice. But do you really have the 'choice' to be an agent of Chinese efforts to spread the virus in America?" Flash forward to now, and you have an 85+% vaccination rate among people over 12 in this country and we're exporting tons of doses that we don't need to stockpile in the vain hope that idiots will spontaneously be cured of their idiocy. You could say much the same thing about mask wearing and other precautions, of course. If the last administration had embraced it, particularly if they had done so in a way that coordinated with the other side, tens of thousands of people would probably still be alive today. But it's too late to do that. It's late enough that a lot of people will be really annoyed if you do incentives. So fuck it, send out the National Guard (and any Guardsman who won't get vaccinated can ponder the wisdom of that decision in Leavenworth)

The stimulus funds this year should have been contingent on getting vaxxed[Edited on August 6, 2021 at 12:13 PM. Reason : M]
8/6/2021 12:13:17 PM
Don't worry, there will be detla stimuli. They can make that stipulation then.
8/6/2021 1:54:20 PM
^^^^I kind of assumed after going through lockdown and mask requirements and distancing and closed restaurants and cancelled vacations and hundreds of thousands dead, that people would be clamoring for the vaccine. But polls show regular people (people not extremely online who vacuum up Twitter discussions) just didn’t care, they were just waiting for officials to give them the all clear. There was never any marketing or commercials to try to convince people to get vaccinated and this was probably where we messed up. Doesn’t help that the gop bizarrely embraced an anti vaccine narrative but I don’t think this has been the main reason.[Edited on August 6, 2021 at 10:06 PM. Reason : ]

Some of those people thought being asked to wear a mask was akin to loading up on train cars in Germany, so it's not shocking that asking them to put something into their body would cause pause.

Mr. Lordi should go door-to-door and compel people:
