What is your criteria for comparison here?

I mean if you're going on voice alone, maybe, but there are so many other factors to consider. Based on notoriety, I would think someone like Lady Gaga would go for the Michael Jackson of the modern era.

I'm not gonna deny the talent and popularity of the people you guys are talking about, and who knows maybe they will gain more popularity in the coming years, but people like The Weeknd and Usher don't hold a candle to the level of international influence and popularity that Michael Jackson had in his prime. And that says a lot since the internet and YouTube weren't around in MJ's era.

The only musical acts I can think of that are in the same league as MJ in terms of how influential they are to music as a whole are David Bowie, Prince, Madonna, and The Beatles. MAYBE the Rolling Stones and Queen.

I think people like Usher, Timberlake, Bruno Mars are the most similar as far as being performers who sing and dance. If we're just going off popularity and record sales, might as well say Eminem or Rihanna.

Michael Jackson is unique, in that he was a superstar even as a child. Perhaps Justin Timberlake would come closest in this sense, having been somewhat famous as a child.

I feel like Kanye West compares best to Michael Jackson's late career mental breakdown, though.
