Ah yes, of course you are glad mrazek got hurt. Two shutouts and league leader in GAA and save % (small sample size, sure) and now we have to ride Reimer hard instead of splitting work in a condensed season.

Not only is it some dumb fucking shit, it’s also just being an asshole. Whatever definition you have of being a fan is orders of magnitude away from mine, it’s unbelievable.

This team has been amazing to watch this season. Even with Turbo and Trocheck missing extended time they kept stocking up points. If things break right, starting with Turbo being able to come back healthy and Svech finding his touch again, I think this team could be special.

Trade deadline is Monday (4/12) at 3pm. I feel like the Canes are set up to be contenders for the foreseeable future, but this years team is so stacked I think we should take a long hard look at loading up and really going for the Cup this year.

Reminds me of how great the 05-06 team played all year and then Rutherford just said fuck it and got Doug Weight and Mark Recchi and the rest is history.

Offer dougie a contract for about 3 million a year and don't budge. His constant lack of defensive effort is ridiculous. Not to mention his continued troubles keeping pucks in the offensive zone. He's not worth anywhere near what he thinks he is. Let him take up a huge chunk of somebody else's cap space if they're dumb enough to make him a top-paid defenseman.

Well here we go, it’s Playoff Hockey time once again. No guarantees, anything can happen. The Canes skill should take care of Nashville but will Saaros stand tall and steal games?

it's weird getting on twitter and seeing all the hot dougie takes when i've been saying the exact same thing about him for years. guy is an absolute trash defender. no amount of offensive wizardry (lol) makes up for his boneheaded mistakes and laziness. let some other team overpay him and re-sign hakanpaa.

this series would be over if it wasn't for dougie. he has almost singlehandedly given them 2 games.

Yes Dougie can expose a lot of defensive weakness when he is called on to play heavy minutes. He is best when he is sheltered either with a shutdown partner or is used more in offensive zone starts. But when Slavin is healthy and can cover for Dougie and he doesn’t have to be a primary defender in end of game situations he is most valuable.

I wouldn’t pay him a contract he will likely get from other teams trying to secure a top power play triggerman, but if somehow the canes could sign him for 6.5-7 mil a year and shelter his ice time like they have been when Slavin and Pesce have been heathy, I’d do it. Most likely some team is going to pay him big time money though
