Best candidate the Libertarians could put forward and would get whatever never Trump conservative vote there is left.

Question is will he split the vote enough in crucial areas?
4/28/2020 11:30:56 PM
Read through his positions on his wikipedia page. I'm honestly not sure how I feel about him at this point. He was a founding member of the House Freedom Caucus, which doesn't win him any points with me.

He is at least consistent in his values

I guess my brain is mush but Twitter punditry seems to think amash helps trump. I don’t see how amash helps trump... seems like he splits the conservative vote in my mind not the dem vote. Amash famously hates trump and I’m pretty sure this is his objective here.
4/29/2020 10:52:50 AM
Yeah, he's not Green Party, he's hardcore libertarian. He'll get the republican protest vote
4/29/2020 10:53:57 AM
I hope he comes out swinging on the GOP’s massive deficits (I’m talking pre-covid19 here). It has the potential for some real damage, even if it just keeps a few conservatives at home.

^^^ the idea, and it is sort of supported by 2018 and the 2020 Dem primary is that when there is no close ideological mirror for suburbanites (women in particular) versus Trump they back the moderate Dem.If there is a “conservative alternative” they may still thumb their noses at Trump but not vote for Biden. It’s not about some mythical anti-Trump media caricature but about the real suburban women who largely were responsible for 2018s wave.

Neither he nor Trump are really floating my boat currently.

I mean, were they really going to vote for Biden anyways? I think the silent Trump voter is definitely a thing, they may say they absolutely hate him and hate his behavior, but they see the judges he's appointing and love it. I think Amash gives some Republicans a way to vote for a Republican/Lib without voting for Trump.
4/29/2020 12:53:11 PM
and then when Trump wins, they'll be able to say "Welp, I didn't vote for him"

^^^I want a court that is as balanced as possible. I don't want a SCOTUS packed with conservative judges and no liberal judges. That wasn't the idea behind the Supreme Court when it was created. Having a stacked SCOTUS is not....fair and balanced.
4/29/2020 1:50:10 PM
I wasn't implying SCOTUS judges, was referring too all the appointees to various federal vacancies
