Katmandu vs The Brewery in Rd 1 is BS! Both could have been contenders for the Natty!

I'll be posting round results tomorrow at noon and voting will being tomorrow at noon round 2. Brewery wasn't but it was a night out spot....so it made it. Technically Bogarts was like a lounge etc.

also, just as a heads up, starting tomorrow we are gonna link this with the http://www.ncha.org/feedthesoul campaign to help support feeding hospital staff and local restaurants. If anyone can give that'd be great. Thanks TWW

They had a bar. Sure it was a music venue primarily but Sadlack's was a sandwich place primarily eg. Hell the Alley wasn't a bar either and it's a 1 seed.

Sadlacks was a bar that happened to serve sandwiches

the Brewery wasn’t open unless there was a show

It's name was literally Sadlack's Heroes, you know named after the sandwich. They didn't just happen to serve them.

^^ you ever go to Sadlacks?

I’m guessing not

it was a quintessential bar full of regulars, most of which never ate there

Yes, I'm just being an ass. I wouldn't eat a sandwich at a place that smelled like pee.

During lunch hours (cause yeah bars are open for lunch??) it was a very popular spot for sandwiches.

I never went at night which I guess is what you're referring to.

[Edited on March 31, 2020 at 9:26 PM. Reason : If they "just happened" to serve sandos they wouldn't have had sando specials every day]

you claimed that Sad’s was primarily a sandwich place, which it wasn’t

it had regulars who went daily for 20+ years who rarely ate there

It was a sandwich shop that had a bar, much like there are wing places that have bars.

Mitch’s is a restaurant that has a bar

Sadlack’s was a bar that happened to serve food

there’s a big difference

Almost every place that serves alcohol nightly has regulars, including Mitch's.

That is not a defining metric of a bar.

There were also plenty of Sadlack regulars who just went for the sandos.

I can appreciate that you have an emotional connection to the nightly drinkers at Sadlack's but that also doesn't make it primarily a bar.

[Edited on March 31, 2020 at 11:18 PM. Reason : Lemme guess TGL3 could walk to Sadlack's and thus formed said emotional connection with the other regulars ]

omniscience.

Look, it's not a bar that happens to also serve sandwiches. It's a sandwich place that happens to also be a bar. It's not Sadlack's Bar, it's Sadlack's Heroes.

Cool, there's a place near me that's a bar but also happens to sell groceries. And the name is misleading because it's Lowe's Foods and really should be Lowe's Bar.

I don't know all these bars well enough to vote.

Here are the ones that I have been to:
Napper Tandy's
Natty Greene's
Farmhouse
PB's (what a nasty, nasty place! beer pong in that shitty atmosphere)
Rum Runners
City Limits (had no idea this closed down)
Stool Pigeons (didn't this turn into something called Rhino bar, or maybe I am making that up?)
The Wolves Den (good pizza, but the pretzel sticks would scrape the roof of your mouth)
Katmandu (maybe once?)
East Village (can't believe it's gone!)
Jax (owner was a nice man, probably close to 80)
Playmakers (is the Brickhouse still open?)

i think i gotta agree with TGL on this one, i'd consider Sadlack's a bar that served sandwiches (and they were pretty good).

obviously sadlacks primary draw wasnt the fucking sandwiches, anyone who was around before hillsborough got the glow up can plainly see that its main function was to sling alcohol and offer a patio to consume said alcohol, not to serve sandwiches.

I don't know if the management situation is different or what, but it's hard to consider playmakers 'closed.' It's still a sports bar serving sports bar food and drinks with the same atmosphere and same setup under a different name. It's an Ohio State bar and they were packed for the national semifinal games a few months back.

Also, is East Village just closed for renovations or what's the deal there? They had the most uncomfortable bathroom situation lol
