I came in physical contact with someone who tested positive the next day, but due to the shortage of available tests I was told they can't test me unless I show symptoms.

Damn. Did i spell covid wrong? Or has no one been tested yet. Should I have named it “know someone that has been tested for covid-19” for more results? I think not. I want my fucking test

Are they still the long-q-tip-up-your-nose test?

I tested a few weeks ago and it was only ~4" long with a foam tip

The nurse told me the current kits are no longer super long with a plastic swab end.

Are most tests free now? I want to get one, def don’t want to pay...

And are results confidential? Don’t want to lose pay at work for having to quarantine for 10 days

in wake county, you can go to a county-operated drive up test and it is free. they do ask for your DOB and cell #, but i don't think they get enough info to contact your employer.

I found out on Wednesday that someone we saw last Thursday just tested positive.

So my wife and I got tested at our doctor's office in Durham (no free testing sites available until January 5 when we checked). It was a normal length q-tip, but they still stick it pretty far up your nose.

Waiting on results...

Our kid tested positive about two weeks ago. Got it from daycare. Wife and I got tested twice (once with him, and about a week later) and we came out negative both times. We were both fairly sick, so I'm pretty certain we had it

Just got results back from Wednesday's test. My wife texted my family "We're both negative," my dad said, "Well work on your attitude".

damn, everyone negative huh? Good.

I was positive right at Thanksgiving (no, no Thanksgiving get-togethers). I went through a few mild symptoms that came 1 or 2 at a time. The most annoying was the head inflammation/pressure from all the coughing to where it hurt to turn my head. Fever topped out at 100.5F for 2 days.

With a wife, 2 kids, and 2 parents in my house, I was very lucky no one else in the house caught it from me. I most likely caught it from my work neighbor who caught it from his wife. Both are pretty careful about COVID precautions.

I downloaded the app, but I stay in so much and have so little contact that I don't think it matters. All it really does is drain my battery more. Still, better safe than sorry.

^same tested 4x positive on 12.17.

Felt like a horrible sinus infection with awful fatigue and the added spiciness of potentially throwing a clot and having a major stroke or pulmonary embolism.

many times..I have a 15 month old in daycare and due to protocol we have to get him tested if he runs a fever or anything, so we all get tested. Radeas health in wake forest can do a PCR test and have results to you in 7 hours. pretty awesome and convenient.

and if you are still living, then you are super-immune!!!

a study found the most immune people were those who have had COVID and then been vaccinated.

^so I am assuming you are vaccinated by now.

Why are you getting tested weekly, are you paying for these tests, is your wife doing the same, are you doing same with your kid?

Have you considered getting an antibodies test?

I have two young children that both attend schools physically. Wife is a teacher as well. Tests are free. Wife and I are vaccinated. Kids are tested not as frequently.

My SO is also a elementary school staff around snot-nosed kids all day.

She's getting tested weekly too, out of concern for me, her unvaxed parents that she tries to see every week or two, the children, etc.

I got tested once after i hung out with a friend one night (outside most of the time, but were inside long for a little while, and several of us ate around table) and he started getting symptoms the next day and was diagnosed a few days later (i was negative).

Wake County has multiple free drive-thru testing sites. I was in and out in 15 minutes:

been PCR tested 2x within the last 10 days, despite being vaxxed/boosted (a few days before an xmas party last weekend, and yesterday for an upcoming xmas gathering). Lines here have been pretty long for walk-ups, which is an encouraging sign, given how many people DGAF and won't bother. my county has a 83% vax rate (77% fully vaxxed), but I know several people who've tested positive and are currently sick, but they weren't boosted.

Get the damn booster ffs and don't ruin your or anyone else's xmas/NYE
