How much more bad do things get before they get better? I see unemployment doubling although is at near historic lows. Any wage rises are probably caput now for many businesses.

I lost all my activities in like 3 hour period

-I teach at 2 schools. Both are moving completely online
-I run a travel company on the side. all bookings have ceased
-I love basketball. The nba is canceled.
-I have a trip to Europe in 2 weeks. I guess its canceled?
-I have coachella tickets. Not happening till at least october.

You're going to see me on here a LOT more. Nothing to do now.

very localized, but personal to me

me and my family run a strawberry farm and we host field trips all through the spring. some counties are cancelling all field trips and i'm sure more counties will follow. that'll be a fairly serious blow to our business in the months of april and may. field trips are not the entirety of our strawberry sales, but it's a very reliable source of income especially during weekdays when other retail sales are much lower (weekends are obviously the busier time). i'll also assume people would want to avoid crowds and may not be as likely to come out on the weekends as well. we will have to wholesale a lot more strawberries, at a lower price obviously, than we'd like. but them's the breaks i guess

We have a vacation rental, should I preemptively cancel reservations? Its not somewhere that draws intentional or nationwide guests, theyre always within driving distance. The cleaners dont disinfect everything though, just change sheets and do normal cleaning. Its pretty booked up starting in April, it will make a lot of people mad but Im thinking its more responsible to cancel things

about 3 hours away, i'm not able to go between each renter

i'm thinking for now i will block the available dates and email the people who have booked, point them to the states coronavirus response page and warn them that we may cancel their reservations with short notice and let them know that they can cancel their reservations for a full refund. i think 4/1 is our first booking, so that leaves a little bit of time to see how this develops.

I'm planning on renting a property from April 28 through May 4. I haven't received any updates yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if I were to receive a cancellation notice from the home owner. While I would be upset, given the circumstances, I wouldn't be angry unless I were unable to receive a full refund.

One of my side hustles is selling bad breath. Over the past couple of years, I've nursed a fledgling business into quite an enterprise; eating red onions, breathing into a Ziploc bag, and shipping the product all across the country. I never would have thought the idea would take off, but I liken it to people who buy used panties.

i'd leave the rental open. i just canceled my airbnb in italy tuesday. i was going until i lliterally couldn't go. some people have to go places for certain reasons. college kids are being kicked out of dorms etc.

People might realize they don’t have to be so capitalistic to be content and comfortable. They might realize how nice it is to be able to work from home. Maybe they’ll see the government mobilizing trillions of dollars in a matter of days and wonder why this can’t be done for poverty or homelessness or green energy. A city in Florida has a moratorium on evictions. St Louis has a moratorium on water shutoffs. You’re going to see leniency on lots of things like this that impact blue collar worker, that people have been saying would bankrupt society if we let people slide on them. Turns out we can let people slide on a lot of things it seems without major issues or any issues. Not hard to see people wondering why we can’t have healthcare or childcare or college for free when the fed can more than a trillion dollars in borrowing in 1 day.

This virus affects all Americans almost equally, there are very few things that do that.
