There are other options than the Logitech harmony? Been using one for years with the hub and it does everything it’s supposed to.

Which Harmony remote do you use?

I used a few different Harmony remotes and finally got the https://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/harmony-companion?crid=60 (well, previous version w/out light/outlet buttons) and it's been sooo much nicer. Eventually I'm going to get one for my parents so they can stop using 3 or 4 different remotes every day.

I have the companion. What I don't like about it is that the remote can't just assume functions for one device. It seems like you have to set everything up via actions. I just want to push one of the color buttons and have my remote be the tv remote. Then a different button to be my soundbar remote. But I can't just use a regular universal remote because of the Roku.

I backed the NEEO kickstarter years ago and it was fucking amazing until they got acquired by Control4 and stopped supporting it. What's worse is Control4 came out with their own version, running their own software, and it's unattainable for average consumers without going through a dealer and buying a whole bunch of other shit at massive mark-up.

^^ I have a Harmony 665. It allows you to individually control the devices assigned to the current activity.

Amazon says I bought the Logitech harmony ultimate in 2014

I bought / traded for a LT harmony years ago from synapse. Work well for a while, although it had some incompatibilities / shortcomings with my equipment. Or maybe I just didn't get everything setup correctly. Otherwise, I liked it, until it went stupid and would randomly quit working / lose settings / etc. I think synapse gave me a knock off! (JK, it lasted years; probably just went bad or damaged from dropping over the years).

Been using a harmony for almost a decade. Got one with the hubs 3 years ago, and can't complain. I can't fathom juggling remotes now.Tried to get my folks to use a cheaper one, but they keep hitting the "help" button (which is poorly placed right beside the "watch tv" button) and fucking up the remote.

lol for a second there I was like "burro has a hubs?? Didn't see that coming"

I use a harmony hub and my cell phone as the controller most of the time.

There's nothing funny about someone being homosexual. You people should be ashamed of yourselves

Save yourself the turmoil and frustration, avoid the Harmony remote. I had it for about 3 years and I was the only one who could get shit to work. Not the wife, kids, in laws. No one.I was too cheap to get my AV guy to program a Universal Remote. I asked him about it after I had a few issues and he pretty much regurgitated the issues I had w/ mine.

I have a caavo. It's aight. Basically let's you use a bunch of HDMI inputs and outputs to a single input on your TV. Like a network switch for HDMI per se. Remote isn't very robust. Very limited button set, so there's that. Also no "learning" feature was a buzzkill. Selling mine now. Got the new remote for my shield tv so I'm happier now.

Bump, apparently Logitech stopped making remotes? All the others have seen on reddit seem to have major drawbacks, like requiring a phone app or some other nonsense. My harmony is dieing, whats next?

One that I got for $1 at a yard sale.

i use a shield to watch everything and can control all relevant devices with the shield universal triangle remote
6/22/2023 9:36:02 AM
I still use use the logitech remote referenced above with a shield for 99% of watching - there are rare cases i'll flip the input over to the appleTVwhile logitech aren't making any new remotes - existing ones still work very well
6/22/2023 11:39:22 AM
Oh no! I didn’t know they stopped making them. I wonder how long before support ends.
6/22/2023 3:24:52 PM
I can control everything with Roku Remote
