Is this a viral thread?BTW, we received an email about it at work, like precautions to take.
1/22/2020 10:49:05 PM
i stopped drinking corona

It does bug me that this is happening in China. An entire city could be wiped out and nobody would hear about it.
1/22/2020 11:30:04 PM
A new disaster China brings to the world. As long as we cut off the connections with them, we should be fine. Probably hundreds of thousands will die from it.
1/23/2020 8:48:35 AM
Fuck this shit! They try to spread this deadly virus to the rest of the world. Not to say they are a real-life hell of the entire country already. A city of 10M citizens is locked down.[Edited on January 24, 2020 at 10:43 AM. Reason : ;]

They should ban EVERYONE coming from China, or at least isolate for a while.
1/24/2020 6:25:09 PM
^^oh no you might get a bad cold
1/24/2020 6:41:49 PM
the regular flu causes 12,000 to 60,000 deaths a year
1/24/2020 8:50:01 PM
I think the only solution is to make camps. Put all non round eye people in them. We can offer them jobs in these camps like farming and stuff to pay their rent. Just good historical evidence to show that this is the best solution while this blows over.

Interspecies sex.I mean, interspecies virus. Bloody virus jumped from an unknown animal -- unknown to world, known to China -- at a live animal market on to a human.Let this be the snake flu!My daughter is happy because schools are closed till Feb 17; they just announced "highest state of emergency" yesterday! A quarter of the people wearing masks here.

They are building a 1,000 bed hospital in 6 days in Wuhan. Why 6? Because in 2003 for SARS they built 1,000 bed one in 7 days, setting a world record. Gotta break them world records when you can!The construction machines look like insects crawling on plot of land.https://youtu.be/g11sTUhBGls[Edited on January 27, 2020 at 2:10 AM. Trump already offers help to China and CDC is at work. China(mainland) is gonna invest $10B(questionable) on solving this problem.

All this talk of eating bats and snakes is making me think animals shouldnt be so physically concentrated
1/28/2020 5:05:09 PM
Was thinking out loud about the impact of this, not just the virus but all the quarantines and businesses in China now not operating. I've got just-in-time manufacturing where China has become heavily ingrained on the supply side, Chinese manufacturing where they produce the end part is affected which will affect those goods' prices as well as shipping them, a good part of the Chinese transportation system which is hardly small is being held idle (good for the climate short-term, bad for oil) as well as a drastic decline in overseas trips to and from China, and you have businesses like Starbucks which have closed half their Chinese locations. And there's not a foreseeable end in site yet. This will be an excellent case study for global climate and global economic effects.
1/28/2020 8:54:14 PM
Eh this outbreak will be over soon enough.
1/28/2020 10:06:55 PM
Define "soon enough"
1/28/2020 10:19:19 PM
Well much like SARS, I think this disease is being blown way out of proportion by the media. So I don't really care.
1/28/2020 10:37:17 PM
Number of confirmed cases doubled in 2 days.
1/28/2020 10:52:12 PM
The whole mainland China is becoming a dead zone, and could be totally a grave.
1/28/2020 10:54:59 PM
I keep thinking that the number of China cases is likely 50 to 100 times higher than the reported number because Communism
1/28/2020 11:19:19 PM
1/29/2020 11:35:46 AM
Number of cases surpasses SARS cases from 2003 ~6,200 cases, ~100 of which outside China132 deaths, all in China60 million Chinese under full or partial lockdownUS, Japan, and other countries evacuating their citizens from Wuhan on chartered flights
1/29/2020 5:27:17 PM
Ok, try to avoid China then, period
1/29/2020 6:01:10 PM
1/29/2020 7:20:17 PM
So is this confirmed more deadly than regular flu yet
1/29/2020 8:05:26 PM
At one site I was reading talk about this and it was saying considering the confirmed cases and the fatality rate, best-case scenario is it's a bad flu season.[Edited on January 29, 2020 at 9:32 PM. Reason : .]

Today more than half the people, perhaps 3/4, I saw were wearing face-masks, and I wore one too, because I had to at the clinic (I have a bad cold so worked from home). Crazy lines at the supermarket checkout with certain groceries running low and the employees constantly restocking them. Next to oranges and certain other fruits they had signs saying "Fruits with Vitamin C help strengthen immune system". That gave me a chuckle... and yeah, they had a ton of oranges, way more than normally.

The confirmed case in Chicago gave it to their spouse. We've passed France, look out Macao!
1/30/2020 1:42:15 PM
Does anyone remember if the quarantine efforts for SARS were this stringent?
1/31/2020 3:03:20 PM
I read that the mortality rate is actually much much lower than 2% due to underreporting of active cases.
1/31/2020 5:55:48 PM
1. Saw an estimate the number of infected in Wuhan could be more like 75k.2. You can't calculate the fatality rate now because you're at the front end.3. The one bright side is even just counting China only, the deaths are all occurring in Hubei. Only 10 deaths have occurred in Rest of China.[Edited on February 1, 2020 at 10:02 PM. Reason : .]
