Never read any of the books or played the games but this show is making me want to. Only four episodes in so far, but the action/fight scenes and mythology are really good. I wish I had more time to dive more into the universe.

Play the game, DO NOT WATCH THE SHOW

Yeah the game is like 40 hrs long. I don’t have that much free time unfortunately. I can do a few episodes of an hour long show here or there over Christmas though.

Witcher III is like 11 bucks right now, 70% off on steam. I picked it up after watching the netflix series rofl. loving both.

About 3 episodes in. As someone that has read the books/short stories and played the games I kind of like how they've framed these early episodes. They've hit a lot of the good notes from the short stories that are much less conjoined than the books that came after. Casting is good, especially happy with their choice for Dandelion, he was great. Cavill has impressed me more than I thought he would.I'm watching this with my girlfriend, who is not generally a sci-fi person and has never even heard of the books/games, so from her perspective my/our main gripe is that the show hasn't (so far) done a lot of explaining of some of the finer points of the Witcher world. Most notably (again, so far) is when Geralt's(Witchers') eyes turn black. Of course I know what the signifies, but I've been a little hesitant to explain to her what it means in case the show does start to trickle out some explanation/exposition of general lore later on.Still. Really like it, and definitely glad we'll get at least a Season 2.

------SPOILER----------Not sure really a spoiler, but putting it anyway. I think the show is improved a great deal knowing there are multiple timelines. I was a bit confused after episode two on some stuff and learning we are dealing with multiple timelines I think made watching episode 3 and 4 a lot better. It becomes clearer in episode 4, but I think knowing that going in would be helpful to many. I don't know if the multiple timelines being revealed in episode 4 was suppose to be a spoiler or "big reveal" but quite honestly I think knowing that going in helps.

^^ we just finished 4. We were both thinking “that blond woman looks just like that little girl” and keep trying to figure out why the scenery looks so familiar. Then yenefer said she was working for 3 decades then we started to clue in.

I played the game (number 3 complete edition) and thought it was pretty meh overall. After watching the show I am getting an itch to play it again though. I enjoyed the show despite its flaws. It seemed like a long pilot more than a polished first season but I hope there is more.

if they build out the sets more and put in some details, this show could be a lot better.

Loved it. Can't wait for season 2. As others, took a second to figure out the time jumps, but it made sense. Thought the casting was perfect. Sucks season 2 isn't out til 2021

Just finished this morning, before the critique I will say that I like the show enough to watch it as long as they're making it. I think Cavill is pretty good, and can mostly make me not see Superman, which is a pretty tall task. For the most part everyone else's acting is decent, and the dialogue is mostly passable. The sword fighting is some of the best I've seen in any show or movie at points. But on the downside, and I will preface this that I have not read the stories or played the game or anything, there are parts of this show that are a real mess. The total lack of cues that we were in different timelines felt very unnecessary. I get it when there is a big reveal or it seems like not knowing adds to the story in some way, but it just felt confusing there for no reason. The character building for Yenifer seemed backwards. Throughout her whole "schooling" she's basically behind everyone else and just fails over and over but somehow shes the best student and most powerful sorceress all along? Also her whole hunchback thing was kind of, I dunno, off. It was clear 7 seconds in that she was going to take off her glasses and let her hair down to reveal a really hot girl that would become the most popular one in school. And the bard talks and jokes like it's modern day despite everyone else acting like we're in the middle ages?
