At this point Walt Jr probably couldn’t be de-age-ified enough to look right unless his scenes were flash forwarded. I can see any other actor from the TV series still being included without seeming too old for the part.

What I liked most about this film was its structure. I can't recall many movies where the story arc of the main protagonist is eventually revealed through flashbacks that are shown sequentially throughout the film. That was done very well.

The only criticism I have for it is nitpicky shit like, the realism of the flashbacks was damaged by the significant amount of weight that Todd and Jesse had put on. Those guys did not age that well.

The conflict between Jesse and Todd was also a very central aspect of the film that was portrayed very well. I don't think that its about Todd being the Devil, and Jesse the Christ figure, but more about acceptance. Todd accepts his role in the criminal world and shows no real signs of internal struggle. He does what he needs to do but still maintains peace in his life. Todd views all of his horrible deeds as being linked in a chain under Uncle Jack's control, not his. Jesse, however, is not at peace with his violent actions and can not justify the damage that happens around him. He has decided on a path to remove himself from the equation by death or departure, as depicted in the climactic duel. In contrast to characters like Walt or Todd, Jesse refuses to allow his predicament to justify committing more violent acts. So, when he is given the choice to either die or flee, he gladly accepts.

I watched it and enjoyed but agree it felt unnecessary and had little climax. I remember pausing it and noticing there was only 10 minutes left and thinking oh that's it.

And lol at fat Todd. I thought Jesse aged okay but Todd holy shit.

I just checked it out again for the second time.

I really enjoyed the opening with Skinny, the flashbacks with Todd, and the shootout at the end on the second go around. There were some tiny subtleties that I missed at first, such as Skinny not recognizing Jessie at the door, them giving him all of the cash that they just got from Walter only for him to come up short at the end cuz Jessie can't ever catch a break. Todd being so at peace with himself and his actions that he offers last words and a prayer for a girl that he just murdered without any signs of guilt or remorse. Then, Jessie being asked "are you ready?" before going to the cleaner and answering confidently and without hesitation. On a side note, Saul asked him the same exact question during the first trip to the cleaners, but jess responded in a way that completely alluded to his emotional insecurities.

And as far as negatives, well... I don't want to fat shame anybody, but dayum is Todd's weight hella distracting. I don't know why the director couldn't have given him a bonus to lose about 35 lbs. Actors do that all of the time in between roles.
