I'll see the movie, but after #2 and #3 my expectations are lower but I'm curious how they continue the story.

^Yeah I haven't seen part 3 since it first came out in cinemas (Shit that was 16 yrs ago?) but didn't Neo and Trinity die at the end?

Also, I hope to see Hugo Weaving back too. Despite the way the story went in the second and third movies, I really liked to character of Agent Smith and how he portrayed him.

Matrix 1 is still in the cinema. It's in the old movies replaying list this summer. Maybe the audience watch it and think: why not make another one?

The Matrix is my favorite movie of all time, probably.

The 2nd and 3rd I didn't like because they took the abilities too far. I don't like flying; in the first one they could jump long distances and they made it realistic, esp the landings. You could feel the force. But when you introduce flying, I hate it.

I wonder how this new one will be.

Isn't it a prequel to the original?

Seemed like a lot of call backs but no substance. It was barely different from watching a remake of the first with only a partially different cast.

Watched it on HBOMax. I will say that I really liked the first third. When Neo was clearly in the Matrix as a game designer and he was trying to convince himself that he was crazy and that all the glitches and stuff were actually just hallucinations, I thought that was interesting and a cool way to approach things.

Once he escaped into the real world and it was back to the constant grey backgrounds for (Z)io(n), it completely fell apart and was more of the "meh" stuff. Jada Pinkett Smith in old person make up was dumb. The machines that were now friendly had too much of a Michael Bay Transformers vibe, doing little fist bumps with the humans and stuff like that. If the bad machines were still intent on destroying the freed humans, why so much resistance to rescuing Neo and Trinity, considering Neo saved everyone the first time around?

Also what was up with Trinity at the end? So in the "new" Matrix, she is somehow the one now? She was way more powerful than Neo ever was, she could just snap her fingers and change anything. But Neo could still fly too? I don't know if "the one" transferring from Neo to Trinity was meant to be an allegory for the Wachowskis being transgender or something, but overall it didn't really explain it that well.

I think they would have been better off casting an actual old black lady instead of putting all that shit on Jada Pickett Smith.

And if Jada wanted to still be in the movie, have her jack into the matrix and be younger in there.

After reading reviews, I was expecting to hate it. I enjoyed the first one, hated 2 and 3, and then I was pleasantly surprised by 4. I thought it was pretty cool how they managed to be referential to the first one while being self-aware and not just cheesy throwbacks.

I'm halfway through my second viewing. I'm enjoying it more this time. The first time I spent half the movie figuring out what the hell was going in the new matrix (Maybe I'm a little slow). Now understanding that people think it's just a video game and didn't really happen makes more sense.
